Ivry left a bad impression in their first two home games

Toulouse has a better offense and against PSG and Dunkerque, the two best teams from last season, they have shown much more than Ivry showed against Nantes and Aix

Today, Toulouse will be the favorite for the first time this season. In the first two rounds against the best teams from last season, PSG and Dunkerque, they left a great impression and took a point from the Parisians at the start. The game finished with 29-29 but they also had a great chance to win the game. There were no such opportunities against Dunkerque. They held the score tied till the 16th minute (7-7), but they went down by 3 goals at the end of the first half of the game and were constantly behind in the second half. 

This time they had too many lost balls and the four missed 7-meter throws are hard to explain. Jerome Fernandez had 0/2, while Osmajic and left winger Nemanja Ilic both missed one as well. They lacked control in some situations and they didn't make use of player on court advantage. Goalkeepers Perez de Vargas and Pardin had a very bad day as they had 9/40 together, so a final -4 score (31-27) doesn't look so bad after all. 

The line man Miha Zvizej is back after he missed the PSG and Dunkerque games and scored 4 out of 5 shots. He is a very important player in Joel Da Silva's game concept. 

- Our championship starts with the game against Ivry and we are going for a win - said the middle back Danijel Andelkovic for the club website. 

- In the first two games there was no significant pressure but now things are changing and we have to win.

- Ivry lost two home games and are going to seek revenge. We have to be careful - said coach Da Silva. 

- I told my players that this is an extremely important game, especially for the defense. 

There are no absences on the line up list so Da Silva can head out for a first win of the season with full strength.

From looking at the first two rounds, it can already be seen how much Ivry is going to miss Diego Simonet. The Montpellier offense without Simonet who went to the Ivry team has no clue what to do on court and coach Canayer cannot afford an offense line up without the Argentinian. 

The Ivry home games against Nantes and Aix have shown this. It is a big loss and the younger Simonet who came from Spain, Pablo, is still not on that level of play. They scored 24 goals against Nantes because the away team got too relaxed in the last ten minutes, so the team made a 6-1 series. They only scored 20 in Aix (21-20 defeat). In the first halftime of the Nantes game they scored 6, against Aix only 7. 

Thanks to a great performance by goalkeeper Chapon and his 18 saves (Gervales didn't have to come in at all), they came to a 20-20 result in the 57th minute. They didn't score till the end and Vasilakis scored the winning 7-meter throw for the away team's win.

- The disappointment is evident, but the determination of the players and the team management keeps us going. We have worked hard over the week while preparing for this game, as well as for the following games in the league and the League Cup - said assistant coach David Deguoy.

- Toulouse has tall players as well as some fast players, just like we do. Nevertheless, we are very different. Truthfully, we have nothing to be envious of and we have something up our sleeve as well.

If there's something in the Ivry's game play that stands out for its quality after the first two rounds, then it is the new midfield duo Bataille and Ruiz Margaria, and this change happened after Davor Dominikovic left for Hamburg. The goalkeeping duo Cahpon - Gervelas is not bad either, and the wing players (Mabire and Smajlagic right, Zirn and Darras left) showed more than the middle backs did. 

- We have to focus on our best game play and experience the pleasure of playing together because that is the most important thing. If we do that, good performances will come. Playing together brings the points - said Degouy. 

This is one of those games which can be described as one team playing offense (Toulouse) and the other team playing defense (Ivry). Even though it is about time Ivry shows something offense wise...

Ivry have shown in the opening matches of the season that they are having some problems in attack, which was visible when they lost at home to Nantes 28-24 (6-1 in the last 10 minutes when the away team made a lot of changes) and against Aix 21-20. They are in dire need of points and I don't doubt the fact that they will again focus on their defence, which is their strong point. Touluse is a better team offensively, but coach Da Silva already said that they have to be concentrated in defence too. They didn't play under a lot of pressure in their first two matches , against stronger oppositions, and they showed that they will be better than last year. Against PSG they conceded 29 and against Dunkerque they lost 31-27 with four missed 7-meter throws. Both games ended with 58 goals in total, and I don't believe that this will be the case against Ivry. This margin seems two goals too high. Ivry's last four away games ended with 53, 49, 51 and 54 goals. Today I don't expect them to go over 56.
