Both teams have no chance of reaching round 2 and are focused on their regional leagues

We will surely see a more relaxed approach as both teams have very difficult games in their leagues this weekend

Kalev have lost their chances to reach the second round of the Eurocup long ago. Today they are facing a team with the same score - a single win in the first eight games. The game has no importance for both teams and we can expect a more relaxed approach on both ends.

Kalev are the only team that has managed to beat UNICS this season but after that they have been in a terrible downfall. Four consecutive defeats, including a defeat by 50 points against the very same UNICS, have definitely affected the mood in their dressing room. Warraq's players had an away game in St. Petersburg this weekend against their play-off competition in the VTB league and they suffered another convincing defeat.


- Spartak are one of our main rivals, many teams on a similar level are fighting for a play-off spot this season. We prepared well for this game but Spartak were very good. I think it was one of their best games in recent months. They played well against Radnički this week and we can say that they are in solid form. It is not very disappointing for us to lose against a team that has shown such performances - said coach Warraq and praised Spartak's player Josh Bostic:


- His game is one of the main reasons for our defeat. It was his first game for Spartak and it was unsure how he will perform. We had some information about his performances in France but it was not enough for a good assessment.


The situation in the VTB league is not too good, as Kalev's 2-5 score does not put them in the group of teams that will go into the play-offs. They are keeping up thanks to poor performances by their opponents but one can expect Spartak and Nymburk improving their form in the rest of the season. Six teams will get into the play-offs and 5 teams already have 1-game advantage over the Estonian team.


Kalev will host Lietuvos this weekend and they have a game in their league tomorrow and it's clear they will not approach their today's game with maximum dedication. MZT have no away wins this season and this is a chance for Warraq's team, but games like this are often decided by the motivation.


Let's just added that Kalev have reinforced their ranks with point-guard Curtis Stinson who was voted MVP in the American D-League in 2011 and he has so far played for Croatian clubs Split and Cedevita. Stinson should have his debut tonight.


MZT have lost any chance of reaching the second phase a while ago and they have completely  put this competition aside. They've got four consecutive defeats in the Eurocup while they were defeated in the last two rounds of the ABA League and it's sure that they're in a crisis even after their new coach arrived as he still hasn't won a single game for the Macedonian team.


In the last round of Eurocup, MZT were defeated at home by Banvit. They completely fell apart in the last quarter while they were defeated by Široki in their last game in the ABA League, in a game in which they were up from the started but gambled away their lead at the end.


- We've shown two faces in this game; the first was quite good and the second was poor. I think we lost the game in the third period when Široki dominated the rebounds and this improved their confidence and it yielded results and a win - said MZT's coach Zoran Martić after the game.


MZT were lead by Uroš Lučić with 18 points and Todor Gečevski scored 12 while the rest of the team failed. MZT have been very poor in away games this season, they haven't beaten anyone in the Eurocup and they haven't won a single away game in the ABA League too, and they will try to end their run of nine away defeats tonight.


MZT won against Kalev in the first round of the Eurocup and it was one of their better performances this season.


- We have a demanding game ahead of us and one tough game that we have to play well in order to get out of the situation we are in. I expect my players to give one hundred percent, to go without any compromise and take the win here - said Martić.


There are no information regarding absent players but Martić's announcement should be taken with a pinch of salt since it is clear MZT have turned their attention to the ABA League games where they are also not doing too well. Gečevski and Čekovski didn't travel to Israel two rounds ago, and it is possible that the coach will rest some of the players here as well.

This is a game with no major significance for either of the teams, so we can expect a casual attitude on both sides. Both Kalev and MZT have long lost any chance of advancing to the second stage, and are now turning to other competitions, with today's game serving as a trial ground for new combinations. The first game in Skopje, a much more important match for both teams, ended under 149 points. Honestly, I find it hard to see a way in which this one can stay below this margin. MZT have played seven overs at this margin in the eight games they played in the Eurocup. Kalev is at 4-4 but have shown on several occasions this year that they embrace faster basketball (the 91-99 vs Enisej being the latest example). Considering the situation, I would not be surprised if we saw the match end quite above 150 points.
