Ringsted - KIF Kolding (16:23)

Kolding lost another player in a debacle

  • Published:

- We have two more difficult games, neither Ringsted nor Mors are easy. But of course we're going for the win to keep the first place, and have the best starting position for the rest - defense boss, Lars Jorgensen, said

With a game against Bjerringbro on Wednesday, TMS Ringsted entered the most difficult part of the schedule that brings them four consecutive games against the best teams of the league - BSV, Kolding, Aalborg, and Holstebro. Two of those are before the end of 2013, and Aalborg and Holstebro are the two starting games after the European Championship.

They controlled the game against BSV for 45 minutes, played great, everything pointed to a big surprise, but according to coach Torben Nielsen, judges made big mistakes in the rest of the game. They've lost 31-28, and since Skive crushed Skanderborg in the away game, TMS dropped to the last position, one point behind Skive.

- I think we deserved to win the game. We had full control for 45 minutes, were leading 23-20, and even though BSV turned for 24-23, we had 25-25 and then missed two clear shots, and another at 26-25. Judges harmed us, too, in the second part, with three 2 minutes suspensions, BSV didn't get any, and I would like to point out that Kasper Kisum's suspension was ridiculous - Nielsen was disappointed.

- No doubt that I'm proud of this performance, we left it all on the court, like I said, we were in the game the whole time, and were only losing 29-28 at the end, so it was tight. Details decided, and the bad thing about a match like this one is that we were missing a lot in the second part.

Kasper Kasum has been having a great season. He's a brave young back, sometimes too fast on the trigger, but for now, he's the first Ringsted's back. He scored 7 goals against Bjerringbro. The first middle back Rune Poulsen got a direct red card, but since there wasn't a judge's report, he'll probably avoid suspension.

They've lost to Kolding 31-20 in the first match they played, and last season, when they were a lot stronger, 28-24 on their own court. It'll be interesting to see if they can repeat the resistance from Silkeborg, especially because Kolding are coming injured.

The leading team of the league had the toughest blow this season on Tuesday, losing 31-23 against Holstebro at home. Skjern are now one point away, Aalborg two, and there's no room for relaxation because they're playing against GOG and Skjern in the first two games after the break. That match could decide the first position before the play-offs, and also the direct placement to the Champions League the following season.

- It's definitely not the result we expected. But, we're going through a tough schedule at the moment, and we keep having accidents, and also, some of the players are worn out. There isn't a player who comes out and doesn't try to give his best. Sometimes things go well, sometimes they don't, but it was really bad this time. Nobody should think we took this game easily, and that we were fooling around. It just didn't go according to plan - defense boss, Lars Jorgensen, said.

They were losing 18-10 at the break, and threatened 5-1 with the defense in the rest of the game, but they couldn't turn things over. The defeat isn't even the worst thing that happened to them. Left wing Stefan Hundstrup injured his ankle during a jump, and it seemed very serious at first, but according to the first info, it's not a break. He definitely won't be playing today, and since the other left wing Boris Schnuchel is out since the beginning of the season, they'll have to improvise a lot, probably with the pivot Laen who'll be crossing the second on the line then. The other option is to use the 20 y.o. Jacob Pedersen who didn't play much this season, but at least he's a left wing (he scored 1 goal against Porto in the Champions League, and 3 against Holstebro after Hundstrup's injury).

- We have two very difficult games, neither Ringsted nor Mors are easy to play against. But of course we're going for two wins to keep the first position, and have the best starting position before the rest of the season - Jorgensen was decisive.

- I think our results are more than good in the first part. We have a lot of injured players, and we still defeated Kielce twice. If we manage to win the two games left, and keep the first position, we can raise our heads high.

Ringsted have a backcourt that can harm you a lot if you let them play and if you aren't aggressive against them. The fact that their main back is a guy who played a few minutes per game for Denmark in the juniors' World Championship in Bosnia speaks for itself. They were left with 20 goals in the first match against Kolding, because Kolding had a good approach and played the defense like the one we're used to see. That's exactly why I expect KIF to give their best, after the debacle they had against Holstebro. They've lost their wing, but they have a kid who can do the job there. It's important that Jorgensen, Boldsen, Hvidt, Viudes and Laen are ready, they'll make a wall that Ringsted can't go through. In this arena, they defeated Skjern 38-22, GOG 32-20 BSV 36-30, and recently Arhus 33-30, which could have been a lot more if they weren't resting the players for Skjern... TMS scored 21 against Sonderjyske at home, 20 against Nordsjaelland, and today they'll have big problems once again.
