The Dutch have shown very little in the first two rounds

Leiden are having major problems up front. On average, they scored 56,5 points in the first two games with a 3-point efficiency of only 12,9 percent

Kataja got a valuable win in the first round of the Eurochallenge cup against the French Cholet, but they had a slip up in the next game. Perhaps the Finnish team underestimated the Danish Bakken Bearse as their defensive intensity was not right for the biggest part of the game. Kataja prefer a faster-paced game, as do the Danes, but they allowed their opponents to get an 11-0 run in the first quarter. It was +16 for the Bears by the end of the first period, and the Finnish team started to trail back little by little, only to get to -6 but they never got back into the game.

- We were lucky not to be even more behind on half time. Bakken were ahead of us in each segment of the game and we struggled at the start. This proved to be crucial - said coach Jukka Toijala.

The best players among his ranks was once again Renaldo Major (21 points + 9 rebounds). Center Morrison added 17 points and 11 rebounds and shooting guard Virtanen (18 points) and Greene (13 points in 13 minutes) were also solid. The performance of their point guard Teem Rannik has however lacking, as he scored only 3 points and had 3 assists. He only played for 12 minutes.

- We weren't ready from the start and we were behind very soon. We have to put in more effort in the upcomin games if we want to be successful - said Virtanen.

Kataja's overall shot efficiency was 50 percent, which is not bad, but their 3-pointer was 13/33.

They had a routine win in the Finnish league during the weekend, beating Lapua by 33 points and scoring 99 in the process. Rannikko didn't play this game due to ankle problems and Virtanen and Major were the best players with 17 and 15 points, respectively. No player played over 25 minutes. Kataja had 70 field goal attempts  (13/34 for 3 points).

The Finns have reported that Ranniko will almost certainly play today.

The Dutch guests are already in such as situation that they have to look for the win or else they will lose their chances for the next round. Leiden have lost the first two rounds due to very poor offensive play. First they scored 61 against  and 52 against Cholet. It was all decided in the first quarter when the French took the lead by 20-7. This lead increased in the third period and it was +27 at one point, which was a sign for Cholet to slow things down and allow some second-tier players to get their chance.

- We have to congratulate Cholet on their win. They are a good team but tonight we clearly missed too many things - said coach Toon Van Helfteren.

Leiden are a team with an average age of 23,5 and it is clear they lack the experience and a team leader. They closes thing they have is Joshuna Duinker (15 points), their center, but he does not get much support from the rest of the team. He has an average of 17,5 points and his match-up with the home center Morrisson (average of 19,5 points) will be the most interesting one to watch, perhaps the most important too.
The Dutch team are very limited in offensive terms, especially in three-pointers that was at 2/16 against Cholet. In the first round against the Bears they got 2 out of 15.

They beat a weak Amsterdam on Saturday without many problems, with another defensively oriented game. It should be noted that Leiden have shown that the away games are not their thing this season. In seven away games they only got two wins and against the weak Dutch clubs (Rotterdam and Amsterdam), while they lost against some average teams from their league.

For now, the Dutch have an average of 56,5 points scored, which is the least of all teams, and their terrible 3-point efficiency is a huge reason for this.

Even before the first round of the Eurochallenge Cup started, the coach of Dutch Leiden stated that his team's main goal is to win home games, and it's pretty clear why. Leiden have performed rather poorly outside their home arena so far this season. Apart from the severe beating they took vs Cholet, they also lost to some rather average Dutch teams (Matrixx, Nijmegen, Den Helder). They are a very young team (about 23 years old on average) and it is clear that they are missing experience, especially in Europe. Kataja, on the other hand, are a home team that on their home court beat Cholet much more decisively than the score 76-70 suggests, and then clearly underestimated the Bakken Bears in Denmark and lost in a run 'n' gun match. This means they will not be short on motive today. Looking at their roster, the Finns are much better than the Dutch team, with much more experience. Rannikko played only 12 minutes vs Bakken due to ankle problems, but the home team say he will surely play today. Leiden are seriously struggling on offense, and Kataja are a team with great offensive, and their fast style of play will definitely not suit the away team.
