Athlone Town - Bray Wanderers (0:0)
Match result tip: 1   Hpoirot

4.33 2/10 - Marathon bet
The life in the first league has been anything but nice for Athlone so far, as they have seen only failure in their returning season after spending 17 years out of the top level, losing ten games in as many rounds. However, if we scratch the surface a bit, we can see that they lost by just one goal on six occasions, and some of those defeats were pretty unlucky too. The Easter Monday match against Dundalk, one of the title contenders, is a great example of that, as they held their opponent in their hand and only folded in overtime from a dubious penalty kick.
What I'm trying to suggest is that the probability odds say even they have to get an opening at some point, and though they are the worst team of the league, they're not so bad that they'll lose every game. I think this game is an ideal chance for them to end their losing streak. The average and unsteady Bray (who beat the strong Dundalk and Sligo, and lost to the puny UCD) are definitely not the kind of team Athlone could not beat at home. One more argument to play "1" is the arrival of a new manager, Keith Long (replacing Mick Cooke from this week), which should be a positive shock for the team. All things put together, you get to the conclusion it would be a shame not to put some small bet on odds as high as these, you wouldn't lose much, and in case the home team wins - which is not exactly impossible - you could win a lot.
