Mourinho still yearning for a forward and claims PSG are the favorites here

Paris SG have shown an even bigger improvement in comparison to last year when they stopped in the quarter-finals and we believe they can eliminate Chelsea but Jose Mourinho loves the situations when he is not the favorite and his tactical ideas can always be dangerous

A new chance for the rich Arabs from PSG to prove they have created a super-power which can be beat the best teams in the world. Last season, they were stopped in their campaign by Barcelona but two tight games, two draws and dropping out on account of away goals showed they were close to getting through.

Today, they are more experienced, they have the quality of Cabay and Cavani and many claim their game has evolved under Laurent Blanc's leadership. The total of 5,238 completed passes in 8 Champions League games in comparison to Chelsea's 3,700 says enough about the quality of football. 

- Chelsea have their own style, they rely more on counters. The court will show what is more effective and we will still rely on our philosophy - said the home manager.

On Friday in Nice, they got their ninth win in a row in all competitions. Like against Lorient last week, they were not too impressive, but that can be attributed to their preparations for this game. Four first-team players were rested in that game: Alex, Maxwell, Matuidi and Verratti. 

All four of them will probably start tonight and the only player missing is their full-back Van Der Wiel (his replacement Jallet is in good form) and reserve player Menez. A potential surprise for the Englishmen could lie in talented Lucas on right flank instead of Lavezzi. 

- We haven't been open enough in our attacks we have to be more dangerous. This was we will not threaten Chelsea so easily - said Blanc after the game with Nice. 

Chelsea and Jose Mourinho did not have a good introduction ahead of their arrival to Parc des Princes. To squander a huge advantage at the top of Premiershp with defeats against two very limited teams like Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, and without scoring a goal, is a huge flop. 

Mourinho has been complaining about the absence of 20-goals-per-season striker throughout the year and it proved to be a major handicap at a crucial moment. We can discuss his tactics built on granite defense but it's usually the teams with powerful attacks that win in the long run. In the end, you play the hand you're dealt with and Chelsea don't have too many cards on the table so they will probably falter before their final step in the league, and possibly in the Champions League. 

However, the situation for Mourinho's team ahead of their arrival to the City of Light is what he wants - not being the favorite, at least not in the first leg and maybe not even to go through considering the constant growth of the Paris team and the class of one Zlatan Ibrahimović who stands out as a major force in this clash. After his national team failed to qualify for the WC, the Swede only has one goal until the end of his career and that is winning the Champions League and he will be very motivated. 

Chelsea are now in a situation they were two years ago when they won the CL title with an incredible amount of luck, but it still means they're very dangerous and ready to eliminate their opponents. 

Mourinho has no margin for major changes in his squad - Matić and Salah are not eligible for this game, experienced players Eto'o and Cole are injured, David Luiz has just recovered. The only trick Mourinho has up his sleeve in terms of attack is Schürrle who might start ahead of Torres, their midfield situation is the most unpredictable, while their defense is their strongest part of the squad, except when Terry scores an own goal like last Saturday.

In Paris, they will probably defend and wait of the transition and a flash of brilliance from their rising star Eden Hazard. Fernando Torres also likes games like these while Lampard will want to show another age-defying performance. If the Brazilian imagination of Willian and Oscar starts working, then Chelsea's chances will be even higher as Mourinho decided to rest these two players against Crystal Palace and they should be the most energetic players tonight. 

- A huge game, a great stadium, top quality opponent and referee Mažić from Serbia who doesn't allow excessive rough play. I think my players will manage well, they will be in their natural environment and they will play a good game. I won't have too spend too much time motivating my players as the strong PSG team is the kind of opponent we feel well playing against - said Chelsea's manager, confirming he likes the underdog status but also indicating that he believes in his team which he always wants to imbue with his cunning and bold spirit. 

It's an interesting fact that Jose Mourinho had his debut in European games for Chelsea in 2004 and it was a Champions League Group Stage game against Paris. On that 15th September, Chelsea marched through Paris and won by 3-0.  Petr Čech, John Terry and Frank Lampard played in that game and will play today, nine and a half years later.

- That was when Roman Abramovich bought the club and started investing a lot of money into it, which brought lots of success. The same thing is now happening in Paris and PSG are dominant in France and they want to do the same in Europe. The home team's biggest advantage are their three excellent forwards Ibrahimović, Cavani and Lavezzi, and when you look at the other clubs in the quarter-finals, their power is concentrated in big attacking names. That is why PSG are the favorites today but our defense will do everything to confirm its strength, although only an away goal could give us the right results - said the away team's manager who has another doubt with his squad. His left-back Cesar Azpilicueta became a father on Monday and it might be the case that young Nathan Ake plays in his stead.

I don't know what this margin is based upon, but it seems to me they missed it by a mile. The stakes are high, its the quarterfinal of the Champions League, and I expect a battle. The fact Mourinho is coaching the away team definitely speaks in favor of that, and one can expect him to try and get the best possible result for the rematch in his usual manner. In the previous round game between Chelsea and Galatasaray there were about 40 fouls in both games, Paris went under this margin against Leverkusen in Germany, in a game that was peaceful in the second half, but we saw over 30 fouls in the rematch. Things won't end in 45 minutes today, on the contrary, I expect a very tense game with at least 35 fouls. Under those circumstances this margin has huge value, and I have to play it with a bigger stake.
