Galatasaray lost their important Italian Centoni last weekend

The Turkish team are not as good as they were the last few seasons, and since they don't play Champions League, have only three foreigners on the roster, among them the important Italian national team opposite Centoni, who got injured last weekend. That is a chance for Le Cannet

Galatasaray failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, which affected their budget and the choice of players they have on the team. They're not as good as they were last season and probably won't be able to deal with their Turkish championship rivals Fenerbahce, Vakifbank and Eczacibasi. The goal in the championship is to stay one of the Top 4 teams, but that goal won't be easy to achieve. As for this competition, Galatasaray will do their best to win it.

All three Galatasaray's foreigners (oppostite Centoni, another Italian Bosetti, and a Dutch player Meijners) joined the team this season. The rest of the team are Turkish players - setter Gamze Alikaya, who was here last season, libero Nihan, middle blockers Kalac and Melis. 

Galatasaray are on a 3-1 record this season, winning all the matches against weaker opponents and losing the derby match with Fenerbahce. They beat the mediocre Cannakkale last weekend in straight sets. Centoni got injured in that match and won't be able to help her team for two weeks. Coach Barbolini has no one else to assign the opposite position to, which means he faced serious problems when preparing for this match.

La Cannet ended last season as the fourth best French team and played the weakest European competition Challenge Cup to reach quarter final and lose to Besiktas from Turkey.

Le Cannet underwent some changes since last season, with blocker Zamberlli, French players Kloster and Orle, Nowak and Fedele, who were mostly substituted last season, staying on the team. New signings are Americans Davis and Lichtmas, Croatian Brčić, and Slovak Abrhamova.

Le Cannet are currently holding 5th position in the French championship on a 2-1 record. As per usual, they were defeated to Cannes, but won Terville in straight sets last weekend home. An easy win boosted their confidence ahead of this European away game. Le Cannet will try and surprise Galtasaray, at least home in the second leg game if not now.

Galatasaray are not even close to being at their level from last seasons, with foreigners Meijners, Bosetti and Centoni as team leaders and two players who were there last year. These odds at Galatasaray winning are probably result of their previous results, but they cannot count on Centoni today, which will force coach Barbolini to reshuffle the line-up. Meijners will probably play the opposite position which will weaken Galatasaray's reception. The bookies are overrating them today. Le Cannet are a good team, Lichtman and Davis won gold at WC with the American national team. Brcic is playing with the Croatian national team, Fedele, Orle, and Kloster with the French. They are a good team, maybe even better than they were last year when they reached Challenge cup quarter finals. They lost to Besiktas, winning the first leg game home in straight sets, and losing the second one in Turkey in straight sets. The golden set decided Galatasaray would reach the next round. The French will be under no pressure here, they don't seem bad, while Galatasaray isn't as trustworthy without Centoni. I think we shouldn't miss out on a set for the home team bet here.
