Ajax now need to beat NEC Nijmegen in order to reach the top of table in the Dutch Championship. They would then have one point more than their only title rivals, PSV.
After a five-game winning run (goal-difference 15-3), Ajax will probably rush at NEC from the very first minute today.
There is little room for the thesis that NEC may defend themselves because their shape is going downwards (only three scored goals in the last six matches), quality-wise they're way below Ajax, and in the last couple of years only once they avoided getting defeated by them. In the last eight head-to-heads, Ajax won seven times, and out of that six were with two or more goals of difference. This is a key match for the title race, and Ajax won't let it go to waste.
