The Pens need to keep a closer eye on Gasol this time around

Gasol hit 38 points in the first head-to-head game of this season. It would not be a surprise if he does well tonight too since he's averaged 25,3 points in the last three games

The Grizzlies are in spot 6 so now but it doesn't look as if they can make much progress since the top 4 teams got ahead. Joerger's team recorded their 7th win in the last 10 games Saturday as they beat the weakened Knicks 103-95. The visitors were without Anthony, their greatest start, who probably would not have been able to steal the spotlight from the amazing Marc Gasol. The Spaniard hit 37 points (15-for-29) and added 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 assists.

- He has to do this every night. Marc is one of the top centers in the league. He's our driving force - Matt Barnes said. He got limited to two points (0-for-3) but recorded 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Spaniard spend an average of 38,2 minutes on the floor in the last five games to hit 19,8 points and add 6,6 rebounds, 2,8 assists, 2,0 blocks and 1,8 turnovers. Coach Joerger said he'd try and do anything to cut Gasol's time on the floor down.

- He's exhausted. His legs are tired. He's carrying a heavy burden and he's completely exhausted. He won't admit to it but when you spend as much time with him as I do, you can see it in his face. He's spending too much time on the floor but we simply didn't have other options - Joerger said. 

The Grizzlies are without Mike Conley for the 5th straigh game. He is officially questionable but most likely won't play today. Mario Chalmers will get the start again in Conley dones't play. He averaged 37,1 minutes in the last 6 games to record 16,7 points, 4,5 rebounds and 7,0 assists. 

The team from Memphis is 15-7 before the meeting with the Pens, who are trying to get back into the playoffs race, while at the same time testing out ways to improve the roster. Rumor has it that they would like to acquire a small forward that can hit 3s and play great defense. Players like those don't come by that often.

After ending a 4-game losing run with a win over the Kings, Alvin Gentry's team beat the Hornets 109-107 on Friday. Everything came down to the last attack, which they carried out perfectly for Davis to slam dunk.

- We had a good flow. We were not selfish. It's fun to play like this. We have a lot of players who can hit points and it's tough to defend us when we're like this - Anderson said. He did brilliantly with 32 points (12-for-19) and 8 rebounds. 

Davis finished with 22 points (8-for-14), while Jrue Holiday added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Tyreke Evans recovered from an injury to finish with 12 points and 7 assists.

After a 2-2 head-to-head record last season, the Grizzlies won the first head-to-head of this one in New Orleans (117-103). Gasol hit team-high 38 points back then. Evan did best at the Pens (20 points), while Davis got limited to 17 points (4-for-15). That is his average from last season's games.
