After the fail in the group phase of the Champions League, which they ended without a single point won, with four double-digit defeats in six matches and with a minus of 72 goals, Hypo continue their competition in the round of 16 of the Cup Winners Cup finals, with a two-legged meeting against Holstebro. At the beginning of 2016 Hypo played two control matches against the Slovenian Krim. They lost the first one with six goals of difference, and in the other one they reached a draw after a minus of five goals in the first 30 minutes. Hypo are not great, Kaiser, Belik and Berisha missed the first match in Denmark. They're on the list of those players who have been injured for a longer time, while the Krim match was missed by Goricanec, Sanko and Thotova. All three have been applied for today's match, but it's very questionable if they will get any play-time since they didn't practice for two weeks. Even in an ideal situation Hypo can't stand up to other European teams, and their hosts belong there.
Holstebro have six players who have played at the World Championship in Denmark. Goalkeeper Solberg and left wing Herrem have won gold with Norway, Hagman and Roberts were among the leading Swede players. Before today's match they have no problems, they allowed full focus in order to secure a solid number of points before the second leg in seven days. They have the biggest ambitions when it comes to winning the title. Last season Holstebro won in the EHF Cup.
