Spain for the semi-final, Russia for the Olympic qualifications

This is the last game on the schedule today so both teams will know what they need. If Denmark defeats Germany, then Spain will already be in the semi-final and the game becomes irrelevant for them. The same goes for the Russians if Sweden don't defeat Hungary, but if Sweden defeats written-off Hungary, then Russians have to win

The Russians weren't comfortable watching the outcome of the Denmark versus Sweden game. It finished with a last second goal and a draw, which means that Sweden are in great situation as far as their battle against the Russians for the Olympic qualifications is concerned. Russia have three points, Sweden two and a game against written-off Hungary. That game is first on the schedule today and if Sweden win that, then the Russians will need to win here. Not even a draw, with which they would have has the same number of points as Russia, will not be enough because Sweden have better goal difference right now. 

The Russians can blame themselves for not having a secured spot in those qualifications. They lost stupidly points against Sweden, they had a great chance against Germany but they were left empty-handed. 

- The game against Germany is the second one in which we failed in the end. That might be due to lack of experience in such games - said Pavel Atman, but also claims:

- We are confident we can defeat Spain. We will play for the win, they are a team we can play against.

Their advantage is definitely freshness. They had a few days to rest, while Spain struggled last night to defeat Hungary. 

- So far the EC games have shown that we can face anyone. Our problem was finishing the game. There might be some psychological moment there.

- He is a great tactician, reads the game great and it will be difficult for us. Spain play in the offense like my Wisla, and they have good defense, tall and agile players. 

Torgovanov gave them a day off on Monday.

- Long awaited. We did everything possible to completely distance ourselves from handball. We managed to recharge the batteries. 

Today's key game, unless Hungary cause an upset and defeat Sweden earlier, and automatically push Russia into the qualifications, was announced by captain Timur Dibirov:

- I would like to see the match decided in the last minute or the last seconds and that we win the game. We are learning from our mistakes and we won't repeat them. I know what to do in the and, we talked about it, we learn from bad experiences. 

Spain made a lot of rotations yesterday aware of the fact that they will need a lot of strength for today. Once again they played without one of their key players, Guardiola, who won't be playing today either, according to the Spanish media. 

- The team is aware that we have to be at the highest level because Russia are very complicated - said Cadenas, who added Maqueda to Morroso in the defense instead of Guardiola. 

The Russians are playing for the Olympic qualifications and that is why we have to get out there with a lot of intensity.
