He passed the qualifications in Queens and then gave Murray a hard time, and last week in Nottingham he won three back-to-back matches. He is an experienced player who knows what awaits him today, but it will be difficult to keep Brown 'restrained' the entire match, and all of this suggests that we will watch an even fight and at least four sets which should, considering their characteristics, definitely be enough to go over this margin. I was going for the first set tie-break or Karlovic's handicap since both options look really good. What Ivo is ding here is worth every praise and it's enough to mention that he reached this semi-finals without a dropped game-serve. Yesterday he scored a record number of aces against Berdych in a match won in two sets (45) and currently he's not a good draw for anyone, not even Federer. The Swiss has a 12-1 record with him, but they were all tight and the tie-breaks were always there. We've seen them in the first set for seven times, while there were a total of 16 and that tells us enough that Karlovic can deal with Federer. This is one classic tip when it comes to Karlovic. The tall Croat did the first set of the first two matches without a single break. He has not dropped a single service game in the first two matches. Of course, Berdych is a much tougher challenge but Karlovic beat the Czech three times. That is not so relevant today but what is important is the fact Karlovic's serving seems perfect while his return remained as bad as expected. Berdych probably knows what to expect but if Ivo keeps his game up there will be nothing Berdych can do. It is therefore expected that this turns out to be the kind of a match in which each chance is worth gold and I would not be surprised if we do not see a single converted break point today. Nishikori, for a good reason, announced this match as a big test in which he will have to be for very careful. Brown is a player that 'lives' for this kind of matches, and he can be very dangerous at grass and with all that at home courts. His great serve guarantees him a lot of easy points which he also confirmed against Haider whom he didn't give a single break chance. The Japanese is apparently 'worlds apart' from the Austrian, but grass is not a surface where he feels very comfortable and that was obvious in the first round against Thiem. The latter one could easily have won that match, and Brown currently seems even more dangerous than him. All in all, I see here an even match without a lot of breaks so I will take this handicap on the German very gladly. Details

One of the most interesting matches of the second round and the one that seems to have closest opponents judging by a few factors. Both players are doing well on grass which their performances here so far proved. Falla is defending finals from last season which he reach through qualifying games to eliminate the tricky Lacko on his way to the finals. Janowicz didn't lose a single service game to sail past Cuevas who was No.6 seed. I have no doubt in his serving stability but I expect the same from his opponent. The left-handed Falla is a tough player to face in these conditions as Janowicz already saw. The Colombian won both of their h2h matches but both were close and tough. I expect another one like that today and since these are the fastest conditions they are meeting in, over seems to be the logical option. Especially when we have a margin that in their case most likely goes even in straight sets. Details

Not many secrets there when Isner is playing, and there'll be even less with the grass season here. Even at the European clay, John passed this margin in ten out of 15 times, and he'll definitely lose his serve even more rarely on the grass, but he'll also have a harder time taking it. Donaldson could make it very hard because he's got a strong serve, and also had the time to adapt. The Spaniard has experience and great serve guarantees quite a few free points. All of that should result in a close match which is why I'm going with this over. Both of them like aggressive games and like to chase points, but for some reason clay is their deal. This especially goes for Delic who at the start of this season didn't manage to make a move on hardcourt, so he probably couldn't wait for these conditions. He already won a few times, although he can and could to more. It seems like he's progressing from one week to the other, and he confirmed that by beating Arnaboldi in the first round of this tournament. He beat the uncomfortable Italian with only one suffered break, while on the other side Brown didn't allow a single one. The German opened the tournament well and he's obviously in the mood to play, and when he's like that he can go to the very end. But I expect that Delic won't be easy prey for him, especially since he also has a strong weapon in the serve. I wouldn't be surprised if they go into three sets, and considering the characteristics of both players, i think they can overthrow this margin in two sets. Details

This is a match in which Dodig will be looking for a rematch since only a week ago Haider won in an unpredictable and interesting match. He pointed out what things are like at the moment, and what's the Austrian's advantage. He won the match despite a smaller number of points won and showed that self-confidence is currently his forte. He left Krajicek, who is also in a fine form, without a break chance and he earned the win in a surprisingly easy way. He confirmed, once again, his great form this year and he entered the Top 100 for the first time for a good reason. Neither player had a good start to the season, but the Dutchman displayed good quality a few times (got a set against Wawinka) and I'm sure he would have had at least one good result indoors had it not been for heath problems. The Japanese took advantage of the situation that presented itself to tie two challenger wins for the second time in the 9th attempt this season. I will take the egal odds since I think there's still value and I see the Brit as the winner today. Sugita only has experience on his side, while Willis has the shape, adaptation and possibilities in such conditions. We saw him exclusively indoors this season, and except for the good futures results he can praise with one challenger win. He left Viola on only four won games in Glasgow, and then gave Authom a beating. Before that he passed the qualifications which also came in handy here. He beat two serious players in such conditions (Boltz, Cox). Sugita is coming here after a three-week break after he played on hardcourt in Asia. This year he has four wins in eight such tournaments and so far he doesn't seem himself, and I think his crisis will only deepen on this tournament. Details

It's no secret that Isner is playing his best game home and this tournament only went to confirm it. Isner is doing great in Miami and his serving has been brilliant here. He's made it almost impossible for opponents to have break-points. Two consecutive Top 10 wins have boosted him confidence even more and I think he's being underrated here. He already beat Novak twice and gave him a hard time almost every time. The No. 1 is never too happy to play top servers and often struggles in those kind of matches (lost to Karlovic this season). On the other hand, Djokovic knows he cannot afford to lose any service games and he knows what kind of approach he needs to have. That is why I expect a very close match with rare break-point opportunities. In each of their 7 matches, we saw at least one tie-break, 5 times in the first set. I think a tie-break is the most realistic outcome, especially because the American is in excellent form.
