    The margin is a bit lower than in the game between Nancy and Nanterre two days ago but I think it has a much bigger value. Nancy have worn themselves out in that game, they left their hearts on the court and still lost, which must have been very difficult for them. They managed to impose a defensive, low-scoring game, they allowed 40 points in 36 minutes but they faltered at the very end. I expect the same today. Nancy will surely impose their rough game, and I expect the refs to tolerate their borderline foul moves due to home court and the pressure from the stands. They have allowed over 70 points in only 3 home games and I'm sure they're ready to keep Paris under as well. However, the visitors are also going into the playoffs with a run of 5 games with under 72 points, and neither of those games ended with 140 points or more. The regular season match between the two teams that was played some 20 days ago ended in 66-59 and Nancy were without Falker, player important on both ends, but primarily in defense. This game is very important as it is the first one in a very short series, and as Nancy played the Cup finals just 48 hours ago, I doubt we will see 150 points ore more. This could very much be like the game between Nancy and Nanterre - decided by 60-something points on both ends. A counter-handicap on Paris is a good option, as well as team under on Nancay, but since both teams are not likely to go over 70 points, I've decided to take this option. Details

    The first H2H ended in 25-21 for Schaffhausen. Nine days ago, these two teams played in Cup finals and it ended 27-22. In the semi-finals, Schaffhausen beat Bern in a 52-goal game while Wintherthur beat Thun in a 47-goal game. If we loo at the league semi-finals, Schaffhausen beat Kriens in a three games (23-21, 29-23, 32-18) and so did Wintherthur beat Bern (29-21, 27-19, 31-19). In last game in regular season, Wintherthur beat Schaffhausen by 28-22. I really don't see any basis for this margin. The first three H2H's may have gone over but it's clear these teams have put more emphasis on defense in recent games, which is logical in trophy hunt. The game in the final is best out of five and if Schaffhausen win today, they will be one step away from the title, which underlines the importance of this game. We might see an efficient performance from both teams but since Schaffhausen went under in last 8 and Wintherthur in last 9 (3 of which were head-to-heads), it's clear this bet has a high value.     I honestly don't see why Kalev should be such favorites. They did win the first game a few days ago but I doubt they will win the second. Tartu had a bad start of the first game, they were down by 13 points at half-time, but they took control as the time went on. Had they had another 5 minutes, they would have won the game. Tartu have been great this season, they almost reached the Final Four of Eurochallenge and they got the third spot in the Baltic League. They have lost only 6 home games in all competitions but only 1 was by more than 3 points, and it was the decisive game for Eurochallenge Final Four against Szolnoki. They have beaten very solid teams at home and I doubt they will go down without a fight here. In fact, I do believe they will win here but I will take the safer option. Kalev are a lot better at home, while they can get into trouble away. It's surely important to not that Tartu made a lot more rotations in the game two days ago, as all Kalev's starters played for 29 minutes or more, which can mean a lot today. These odds don't make sense and I think Tartu are underestimated here. Details

    I was hoping for a somewhat higher margin, but there is still value here. As the title says, the finale should be a battle for each point. Both teams are based on strong defense and as everything ends with these 40 minutes, today should be the same. Both teams talk of defense as well. For Nanterre this is the last chance to get a trophy and play the Eurocup next season. Limiting Chalon to just 57 points proved the kind of defense they have. In the final of the Leader's Cup in February they lost 64-59 to Le Mans, and a similar result would come as no surprise today. Nancy built their way to the playoff and the final primarily on defense. They allowed more than 71 points in only two of their last 11 games, and lost both. The only one remaining nine losses was at home against Le Mans, which shows best how much their odds rise when their defense is at the right level. It was not there in the away match against Nanterre a few weeks ago, allowing 80 points left Nancy losing. Back then the score was exactly 149, but I think we will see a game much more similar to the one at the start of the season when they had 14 with overtime. This is a battle for the trophy after all, one can hardly expect a chase on the court here, and both teams can limit their opponents to 40% shooting or even less. Details

    I've been thinking a lot whether to bet on Triumf yesterday and in the end decided not to because I wasn't sure how the players were doing, both physically and mentally, after the last defeat. However, the game yesterday displayed the real situation and the difference in quality between these two teams. When Triumf are at the top of their game, Spartak can't keep up, especially when they're not playing home. Besides, the Ljubercij-based club still have room for improvements. Triumf are a better-quality team in every segment, and they should be able to confirm that today. Spartak have improved since the season's beginning, but they don't have the quality necessary to reach the final and I find it difficult to imagine such an outcome. Triumf will do their best possible defense again, stop key players at Spartak, and they should again win by 10 points or more. Details

    The games between Roanne and ASVEL are always special but I only see one outcome here. Even though they are facing their rivals, it's hard to expect Roanne to be fully motivated. The situation is bad, the chairman has openly blamed the coach and the players without taking any responsibility for poor scouting or lack of reinforcements. Pavićević will almost certainly not be on the bench next season and most players will leave the club and when you're being blamed like that, it's hard to be motivated. And ASVEL will definitely be motivated. Their club chairman is Tony Parker, about whom no one can say a bad word, and the club is very ambitions. The defeat against Limoges was a good lesson and I expect ASVEL to be at the right level from the start today. The visitors definitely have the quality and can limit Roanne to 60-something points with a top performances. This is the game of the season for them as a defeat would definitely put them out of the play-offs. Roanne have won 6 out f 14 home games this season but apart from very poor Paris at the start, they all came against teams from the bottom (Cholet, Antibes, Le Havre) or against teams that do poorly in away games (Dijon, Orleans).     Samara recorded a win in Krasnojarsk a few days ago, but I think they will have problems today in confirming the win. I even think Enisej have the chance to take this to game three. Their field goal efficiency was extremely bad in the first game, Karadzic himself said his players missed too many shots, and that is spite, managed to keep the game tied till the end. On the other hand, Bazarevic was surprised with how well his team did. Samara could be in a lot of trouble without Ignierski, and with him as well. The teams are, quality-vise, very close. They covered this margin in every other game. They won in Nymburk, St.Petersburg, Krasnodar, lost by 3 points in Novgorod, by 6 in Vilnius.     Without any doubt, Nymburk are the strongest team in the Czech Republic and they can crush any team but I still think the margin is too high here. The atmosphere should be infernal as Opava will be supported by over 3,000 fans who will put Nymburk and the referes under pressure. Things will not be simple for Nymburk and I don't think they can win this by 30 points. They just aren't crushing their opponents like they did last year. They beat Opava by 29 and 26 points in the two home games and they were down for 30 minutes in their first away game here and they won the game in the final moments. One can expect a serious approach for them in an attempt to put this game to bed early on but Nymburk showed against Nova Huti that they don't have the same aggression when they are up by over 20 points. Even if it comes to that, I think that Opava will be able to hold it below this margin. The motivation will be huge, much higher than Nymburk's as this is the game of the season and a reward for all their success. The players will do their best on the court, aware that the last game of the series will be a mere formality if they lose today. Czudek made some compromises on Wednesday and preserved his main players for this game so I expect Opava to be ready to limit Nymburk to 80-85 points. They play a great defense at home and so a team under for the visitors is a good option. However, the handicap is much more available and I think Opava will cover this spread if Nymburk stay at 85 points or less. Details

    Even though the first things that comes to mind when talking about the Czech league is fast offensively-oriented basketball, the playoffs are a different story. Everyone is approaching the games more seriously and more responsibly and the duels are much harder. The first game between Pardubice and Prostejov saw only 120 points and we saw an amazing defensive performance from Prostejov as they allowed only 25 points in the first 30 minutes. The goal for today is the same - allow as little points as possible. This Prostejov are not the same as the one last season, which was primarily an attacking team. Prostejov of today have the best defense in the league behind Nymburk. As far as Pardubice go, they will be looking for their atonement here and there's no doubt they will be even more aggressive. This is their crucial game as 0-2 against Prostejov would be nearly impossible to recover from. Even with a weak performance in the firs game, they allowed only 71 points. This season, there have been two head-to-heads in Pardubice - the first ended at 126 points in regular time, the second one at 156, but the latter one was settled before the game ended so the approach was a bit lackadaisical towards the end. Out of 6 H2H's this season, only 1 game went over and it was another blowout. Details

    The odds on Spartak are dropping even though there's not basis for it. I couldn't find any information about Triumph's main players missing and they are a far stronger team with a complete squad. Spartak's game is based on foreign players but Triumph's foreigners aren't any worse. In fact, Higgins was one of the best players in the Eurochallenge and one of the best in VTB regular season, Chappell is also a class player and Raković and Landry are better than Homan, who wasn't a regular player during his time in Cibona. In addition, Vetra himself said that Triumph have three Russian players competing for the national team and none of Spartak's players are even close. Triumph have better leaders, more depth and have been better this season. Spartak wouldn't even be here had Donetsk continued this competition.     The atmosphere in Volgograd will be great but I think the difference in quality is just too big here. Wafer was important for this team as much as Fletcher and without them, Oktyabr are left with four foreign players that are capable of carrying the biggest load.     UNICS are playing impressively at home this season. Only Banvit (72-71) and Oostende (69-63) lost with a margin lower than this one. Only Valencia (82-75), Enisej (86-77) and Turow (72-62) remained within the 10 points difference, but Banvit, Enisej and Turow were the first home matches of the season, and UNICS were just warming up. The rest of the matches showed them crushing big teams, including Himki nine days ago, and also Lokomotiv in the middle of February. It's true that Lokomotiv were focused on the Euroleague then, but they were crushed at home, too, and they definitely won't have it easy today.     The margin is getting lower and lower with each game for a reason. Apart from the first half in the first game and several minutes in the second period of the second game, we have two teams completely dedicated to defense. After 45 points in the second period on Monday, the second half saw only 48 points. The game was slow, the attacks often ended in the last seconds and I expect he same today. It would be difficult to expect anything else in an atmosphere like that, especially as this is the fourth game in the last seven days and both sets of starters are pretty worn out. The margin may seem low at first glance but it's hard to expect anyone getting 70 points here and I think another game of under 130 points is a pretty realistic state of things.     Strasbourg have been brilliant in the last weeks. In the last five matches, they had at least 84 points, and their opponents were decent defensive teams. Today, they'll try to continue the streak, Collet's goal is to keep the first place before the playoffs. Roanne come basically as the second league team, which could be confirmed today. Club's president already pointed out that being eliminated into the second league isn't necessarily a bad thing, because it could help the club get consolidated in the long run. Roanne can only match them with their defense here, but even that's been a lot worse in the last weeks than in the first part of the season, especially in away matches. They conceded at least 77 points in the regular part of the last four away matches, and today, they'll have an opponent a lot stronger offensively. There shouldn't be any dilemmas about the winner here, Strasbourg should solve the match before the end, which could work additionally for this bet because of a more relaxed game in the final moments. Roanne sometimes fell apart when they'd start playing badly (Nancy, Cholet), and considering this is their last chance to fight to stay in the league, being 10-15 points behind in the early phase of the match will definitely have an influence on players' moral.     This series promises great games and reminds me of the great quarter-finals between Barcelona and Panathinaikos last season. We saw five games in which the margin of 131 points (!) was not exceeded in regular time on a single occasion, a battle of two great defenses and a fight for every point. Things shouldn't be any different today. It's the first game of the series, both teams will be very nervous. CSKA are without Teodosić, which means they lose some quality in their attacks but Jackson will reinforce their defense. Alvertis gives Panathinaikos speed in the transition, but controlling the tempo and the rebounds will be crucial today. The Greek team has played games in the Euroleague with Alvertis, three have seen 133 points, they lost a 146-point game in Barcelona (2 three-pointers in last 25 seconds) and they beat Fenerbahce at home in a free-throw finale with 143 points. They played against the Muscovites at the pre-season tournament and it ended 72-49, so another game with 120-130 points would definitely not come as a surprise. The stakes are high, CSKA are under pressure and PAO are aware that this game might be their best chance to get a break. Details

    I am opting for the same bet as I did a few days ago, even though it didn't prove successful. The first game only confirmed how good the bet was, and if the shooting percentage wasn't as good in the second and third periods, the game would have been limited to well under 140 points. However, the last quarter and the over time were just what I expect today. There was a great battle for every point, and besides, today's game might be the crucial one. The win would get CSKA inches away from the Final Four, while the win would give Panathinaikos a great chance to settle everything home. The pace in the first game was very slow, the shooting attempts would often happen after 20 seconds. Diamantidis will try and set the pace his team wants today, and CSKA turned out to be a much slower team with Jackson and without Teodosic. I think they would both struggle to score over 70 points, which would make this bet a good choice. Details

    Even though this is a battle for the least important trophy, this game is very intriguing because of the performances from UNICS and Khimki this season. UNICS have not been defeated at home this season and I think Khimki are underrated. First of all Kurtinaitis's team is coming well-prepared, hungry for trophies after their lack of success in Europe and they will focus on these games. On the other hand, it's certain that the team from Kazan are also focused on the Eurocup finals, even though that is two weeks from now. Trinchieri is aware that success in those two games would make their whole season a success, regardless of their results in the VTB League. In addition, they will be without Vougioukas today, which proved to be a huge handicap, as was the case against Zvezda. Khimki seem more focused on this fixture, they're a team that has won 31 games in a row, they've beaten CSKA twice and I think they have more quality, regardless of UNICS's accomplishments. This handicap is a great option as even if UNICS win, I doubt it will be by a high margin. Just to remind you, there's no overtime today as the team with a better point difference in the two games will go into the finals. Details

    Dzukija have been particularly poor in recent weeks. In last four games, they failed to score over 62 points in regular time, in only 3 out of last 10 games they got over 66, not once over 76. However, 2 out of those 3 games were played at home and the third was played against Baltai, the worst team in the league. Against Lietuvos, it was a disaster as Dzukija only held their ground in the first period and scored 30 points in the following three rounds. Coupled with the absence of Dambrauskas, the best player of this team, who will not play today. Back to this game. There are very few games left to play until the end and this is a direct battle for the playoffs. Lietkabelis are the seventh placed team with 12-20, Nevežis are eighth with 11-19, just like Juventus, while Dzukija have 11-20. It's clear that the whoever loses this game will have very little chance and we can expect a real battle here. The home team have clearly stated that they just have to win this game and the one against Nevežis on Saturday, as everyone is aware of the importance. Juventus allowed 115 points against Lietuvos but that could only cause them to react and play much better. Their efficient performances against stronger opponents should not be taken as relevant here as we should see a completely different story today. Juventus and Dzukija have played three H2H's this season, it ended in 132, 134 and 134 points. Before their debacle in Vilnius, Dzukija had played 7 games with 140 points or less.     The margins are dropping and I can't avoid this bet. Dijon have the best defense in the league but they are much more efficient at home and are able to score 75-80 points. In last three home games, they beat Cholet by 86-70, Paris by 76-75, and Le Havre by 87-74. In 13 home games, they have gone under this margins on 6 occasions, but all those games were against strong defensive teams (Le Mans, Antibes, ASVEL, Roanne, Paris). For instance, they got 86-80 against Chalon, they beat Nanterre by 82-80. Limoges are offensively oriented, they have gone under this margin only twice in away games - against Le Havre 74-47 and Paris (50-83). However, I am almost sure that neither of the two opponents today will stay on such low figures. They are not under full pressure and the importance of the game is big, but not dramatic, especially not for Limoges, while even Dijon can fix some things if something goes wrong. Details
