    The Slovenians showed how much stronger than the rest of the group competition they are in Switzerland when they fully focus. It's true that the Swiss lost all chances to be first, but even if not, I doubt they'd do any better. Today, a key game against Ukraine is coming, and I doubt the Slovenians will fail. All of the players still remember the painful defeat by Belarus in June, the one that left them without the European Championship, and I think that is what will force them to do their best today. Besides, all of the players' announcements give a sense of their eager spirit that arose from the defeat in Zaporozje. The Ukrainians are a great team, but maybe only a little bit better than the Swiss. They have a lot of financial issues within the Alliance, and they simply don't have the right atmosphere that would help them against the Slovenians. Velenje will burn today, the Slovenians will put a massive pressure on the Ukrainians. Denicev's players are at their best in the counter attacks, the Ukrainians have a bit more robust team, but the Slovenians saw that, and pointed out they'll base their game on a tough defense, counter attacks and a fast center. I doubt this will be suspenseful till the end, I think the Slovenians are better at the moment, and we'll see them play even better than in Switzerland. Ukrainians are not ready to deal with it now.     This margin seems to be set way too high, in my opinion. Azovmas are a primarily defense oriented team, they can play tough, which was clear quite a few times. They played the last two games of the VTB League against the two fastest teams. 162 points were scored in the Oktjabra game, by far the lowest point count for that team this season, and 159 were scored in the Naptunas game (Neptunas scored only 74). Riga were depending on defense a lot this season, and success was following as a result of good defense. That is how they managed to beat Kalev (78-67 and 67-62), Neptunas (74-59), MTZ (77-70 and 80-71), and finally Azovmas in the first game (67-60), all home. I expect a very similar game against Azovmas today. The last game Riga played (against CSKA) ended with 170 points scored, but both team had a field goal percentage well over 50%. I don't thing something similar will happen today, they're direct rivals for the play off, which is why I expect a much tougher game. Details

    Apart from the last game against Chalon, Nancy have played all their home games under this margin, some with an very big under. Chalon cannot be a measure of things as they have be best offense in the league and the games against Nanterre and Starbourg paint a more realistic picture. The home team are looking for a place at the Leader's Cup and there is no doubt the atmosphere will be on fire. On the other hand, Cholet have played strong away games on many occasions this season, both in the league and in the Eurochallenge. Like against Nancy, the game against Chalon cannot show you the whole picture, even though Cholet played great defense in the second half of that game and won because of it. The game has no meaning for the away team in terms of the battle for the Leader's Cup but one look at the table shows you this is a clash of direct contenders for the play-offs. The game should not be too eye-catching and Nancy will put up their granite defense with Falker and Pietrus and impose the physical game. Cholet are aware of that and they will have to be ready for that and play an equally good defense like they did in the final stages of the game against Chalon. Taking everything into consideration, I see this game way under 150 points. Details

    Krstić hasn't gone over this margin in the Euroleague so far. He managed to score 12 points only in the game against Barcelona. Against Lokomotiv and Riga, he played for 30 minutes while Kaun is probably getting back today and because of those two games in which he probably got tired, I expect him to get his usual playing time of some 15 minutes. His current average in the Euroleague is 6.3 points with an average of 5 shots per game. With Kaun, Voroncevič and Hines, CSKA have the width in the front court and I don't think Messina will force Krstić here, especially considering the fact that one can expect this game to be a bit easier for the Muscovites. Žalgiris are coming with a weakened front court and I think Teodosić, Weems and the company will know how to use it. With Javtokas and Lavrinović, Žalgiris have good solutions in the paint. There are many reasons for this bet and I expect Krstić to get 7-8 points tops. Details

    All credit to Zielona Gora on some European games but this Polish team is still not able to battle for the European to. Apart from their win against Siena, they have covered this margin at home only against Galatasaray. Oly beat them in an unimportant game by 11 points, Bayern beat them by 21 points, Unicaja by 17. There is no doubt the latter two teams are weaker than UNICS. Trinchieri's players beat Turow a few days ago, with minor problems at the start. Now they played their first game after the break and one can expect them to be at the top level from the start. Even though Zielona Gora are stronger than Turow, I think they can't keep this below 10 points. The new phase of the competition has started and UNICS will want to start it well and I believe they will do so. Details

    The first game was a display of the difference in quality between these two teams. The Slovenians got in a big crisis in the first half time, but still managed to win by +20 goals, desipte that being an away game. Luxembourg's game declined completely in the second half, leaving fast Slovenians to seize the opportunity and punish them. Slovenia are playing home now, and even though it's difficult to find motivation for games such as this one, they owe it to their fans after all the failures they had to put up last year. Besides, Denic said he wants his team to have the best possible approach in all three games. Luxembourg conceded 38 goals to Ukraine home, 32 in Switzerland, 36 on Thursday (23 in the second half time). I think Slovenia will score around 40 goals today, maybe even more, and Luxembourg, the way the currently are, can hardly score 25. Zvizej said very clearly they'll try to keep them under 16 goals, it's possible that will be Denic's way of motivating his players. To sum up, goal difference will very likely be more than 20 goals, the Slovenians might even record the biggest goal difference in the history of their team. Their current record is 47-20. It happened against Bulgaria in the EP 2010 qualification. Details

    One of Turow's advantages in this game is UNICS' long break. However, that could create problems for UNICS in the starting minutes. Trinchieri's team are able to control that with a tough defense, and when the offense gets going, the writing's on the wall for Turrow. The Polish look pale, having trouble in the national championship, and they're one of the worst teams of the VTB league. Today, they're facing one of the most difficult opponents, who look even better than at the beginning of the season. UNICS and Turow played the game in the first round, when the Polish used the fact it was the season start, and left Kazanje with more than acceptable -10. However, even in that game, they had trouble with the UNICS tough defense, and were left under 65 points. UNICS seemed even stronger defensively by the end of 2013. It wouldn't surprise me if the home team were left under 60 points here, and despite the break, I doubt UNICS will be under 70 points again. They progressed offensively a lot compared to the beginning of the season, and they started crushing the opponents when they improved their realization. Turow don't have a tough defense that could stop Goudelock and the company. Lietuvos left Poland with +12, Lokomotiv +8, with almost 50 points scored in the second part of the game. The stakes are a bit smaller only because of the break that might have broken UNICS' rhythm, which happens often with the top teams, but even if we are to watch for troubles in the first half-time, I believe UNICS will take this to a two-digited difference in the rest of the game because of the width of their roster.     CSKA don't seem convincing at the beginning of the season at all. They came to Riga straight from Krasnodar, only 48 hours after a tough game in the Euroleague. This will be a third game for the Muscovites this week, they won the first two in the overtimes. They had problems with the Neptunas, and got away in the last seconds, but after the fight in Krasnodar, they surely aren't rested. Riga won the last five games at home, and played a few championship games during the break, so they boosted their self-confidence. They also brought two reinforcements and seem a lot better than they did at the beginning of the season. Last year, CSKA won both games with eight points difference, and they celebrated with +17 at the opening of the VTB league. However, then, we were looking at a pretty evened fight for the full 30 minutes, Riga lost it in the final moments. In that game, Kaun dominated with 27 points, but he's out today because of an injury. Considering all of this, Riga are ready to give Muscovites a very hard time. The Muscovites won with more than 11 points difference in only 2 out of ten away games this season (Azovmas +14, Samara +17). Details

    We should see a battle for each point in this game. All their head-to-heads last season were very much under this margin, especially the games in Krasnodar. Lokomotiv had many problems at home against the defensively stronger teams this season. Maccabi, Panathinaikos and UNICS have left them under 60 points. They played a tough game in St. Petersbourg just like all three against Lietuvos. I expect things to be the same today. CSKA win the games through defense while their offense is everything but convincing. On Monday, they were below this margin in the regular time against the super-fast Neptunas and the Lithuanian team had a great three-point percentage. I expect a much tougher battle here, I wouldn't be surprised by a game with way under 130 points. Details

Luxembourg have two young, practically rookie players at their goal, and it is hard to expect them to put together 15 saves.     There's always a risk with bets like this with CSKA but judging by what we have seen this season, I doubt they will demolish Neptunas. The stats tell us that CSKA have covered this margin only against Partizan in their games this season. On the other hand, Neptunas haven't lost a single game by more than 15 points. They often lost very tight end-games and were rarely crushed. They were defeated by 22 points in Moscow last season but now they are more experienced and i expect them to put up better resistance. CSKA will take this game as a preparatory game before the Euroleague round 2 and I doubt they will go all the way. They haven't done so throughout the season and they have an away game in Krasnodar and Riga later this week. Neptunas have enough firepower to stay within this margin. Details

    In the game between Paris and ASVEL in the last round, the margin was 152,5 and I went for an under and it was a comfortable under, too. Now the margin is even higher and Paris are up against the team that plays at least as good in defense as ASVEL. Paris have scored only 60 points in the last round and the main reason for their defeat was defense. They've focused on this segment more than at the start of the season and they have conceded more than 75 points in regular time in only 2 out of last 15 games (even counting the game against Gravelines that was postponed and has to be finished), and they've only gone over this margin three times in this period, getting 157 on one and 158 on the other occasion. On the other hand, Dupraz's statement says a lot. Limoges have one of the best defenses in the league, they're statistically not at the top only because of three games in which they conceded 80+ points. However, Dupraz saw that things can't got on like that, he emphasized that it was a mistake and played a 130-point game against Dijon. This margin is way too high for me and I don't believe we will see an offensive symphony here. Details

    I have to admit I was surprised to see this margin. Honestly, I don't know why it is so high. ASVEL's average is 141.8 points with 3 overs in 12 games for this margin. On the other hand, Paris have a somewhat higher average but in away games they only have an over against Roanne at the start of the season in the game which saw 156 points and in which they conceded 48 in the second half. These teams have played two games in the Eurocup, they were both under 150 points and the second game, which had no meaning, ended in 74-72. Today's game is much more important and I expect a tough battle and not an offensive festival with almost 40 points per period. ASVEL have many problems with their efficiency and before the game against Antibes they hadn't scored over 70 points for 5 league games, and even then they went into over thanks to free throws in the last minute. However, they are doing well in defense, Vincent is happy with this aspect of the game and I believe they can hold Paris at some 70 points here. The away team are coming after a great game against Nancy in which they had 12/22 from 3-pointers. Today, they will have a tough task repeating that... Details

    I have been think a lot about whether to go for a win by Limoges or an under by Gravelines. Both options are good and I believe both will go through but in the end I decided to go for an under by Gravelines. In the five home games this season they have never scored over 69 points and they can only win this through defense. They are here without four very important players, among whom is their top-scorer and a very important playmaker Diabate. Kennedy left the club, their power forward Lewis is not in a great condition but he has to play as the situation is drastic. Monschau has seven players at his disposal. Two days ago, Gravelines played in Zaragoza, they have worn themselves out and will pump up the pace here. Limoges have one of the best defenses in the league, regardless of the 180 points conceded in the last two games. This will be an additional motivation for the away team. Dupraz will pay special attention to Gravelines's players and I doubt Gravelines will get 75 points or more. The home team can only win a low-scoring game here. Details

Lietuvos have a team that should implement this style very nicely, they have great shooters and front court that is ready to follow through a great transition. Today's game is a decisive chance to try out different combinations since it has no importance in terms of result. In the first game, which was more important, we saw 165 points. With the arrival of Petrović we should see an even faster game. Both teams have very important games this weekend and I doubt they will risk too much in defense.     Pietrus is returning for Nancy in this game, which should influence the game. I expect a tough game with fewer points, as was often the case in previous seasons. Nancy have not gone over this margin in the last five championship games between these teams, and in the preseason game they stayed at 61 point. If a preseason game ended at 68-61, we will not see much elegance today either. Nancy played all their home games on low scores, making 76 vs Gravelines, and 66 or less in the other three. 66 is also the most they took, vs Nanterre, in front of their own crowd. Total under is also a good option here, but I think Strasbourg have better odds than the handicap on offer. They took only 79 vs Real, and confirmed they play well on defense several times this season. Collet was very pleased with the defense in the second half of the Madrid game, and they also limited Limoges to 70 points last week, in a game that was resolved long before it was over. Le Havre are a much more offensive oriented team, yet they still scored only 75, below this margin. Details

    UNICS are back on track offense vise and destroying their opponents. They struggled with scoring at the beginning of the season, but as the season progressed, their offense is looking better. The defeat to Kalev seems to have happened at the right moment - UNICS started doing great after it, home especially. Spartak managed to score only 49 points, and lost by 34 points in the end. Kalev scored only 44, lost by 50, Riga scored 51, lost by 47...The last game against the Latvian champion was particularly impressive. It was perhaps their most important game of the season, while it had no greater importance for UNICS. However, UNICS showed great professionalism and gave their best. Donetsk are just as good as the three aforementioned teams, and last season's games proved they might have a lot of problems. They are a primarily offense oriented team, and when someone manages to stop their offense, problems occur. The game against Lietuvos in Ukraine a month ago was a great example of it. UNICS certainly have the ability to stop Donetsk in Kazan. Donetsk conceded 86, 104, and 84 points in the three road games. I expect UNICS to be in a good state today, I expect them to score over 80 points, and Donetsk won't have as much opportunity in offense to stay under 10 points short. I think we'll see another convincing win for UNICS. Details

    CSKA played the best game this fall against Barcelona, but I think they don't deserve to be the favorites here. Moscovians often had problems in their games, rarely crushed the opponents, and mostly got the wins thanks to the individuals' quality in the final moments. However, that was mostly against weaker teams, games against Fener revealed all their weaknesses when they face a quality team. Khimki definitely are a quality team, the guests come here with 14 wins in a row, and a great win from Turkey a few days ago. Kurtinaitis combined the team great after the starting shocks in the European competitions, and Khimki really look good. Guests are a balanced team, with quality players in the perimeter and the paint, and they can match today's rivals. Today's match is a direct battle for the first position in the group, and could bring the advantage of the home court through the whole playoff. I think Khimki are very underestimated here, I'm not sure they can win, but I believe they can keep this with less than 10 points difference. The difference is also very important here, considering the teams dominating in the group, it could happen that the ratio between these two decides about the first position. Details

    We can expect a tough game here. ASVEL played tough against all the teams that are defensive (Olympia 64-56 and 48-86, Gravelines 69-64, Nancy 59-60, Roanne 67-58, Dijon 61-64). All those games ended well under this margin. Limoges coach Dupraz said before the game against Le Mans that the opponent play the best defense in the league, and it's been confirmed many times this season. Since the Wood's injury, Le Mans dedicated even more to the defense, which was best seen in the game against Artland this week, the one that ended with only 109 points. Le Mans ended five out of last six away games under this margin. The game means a lot considering the fight for the Leader's Cup, Vincent announces an aggressive team from the very beginning, and I don't think this will be something beautiful to watch. Details
