Radwanska is 100% interested in winning the title in her country. She proved to be physically, mentally, and game-wise ready in the Wickmayer match. She had a pretty good performance, especially regarding tactics, which is why she won convincingly. She is meeting Mestach today, who is in fine form given her potential but she's far from the Agnieszka. Everything today will come down to the Polish player. I think she'll win by at least 7 games, which makes this an acceptable margin. Details

When we look at the shapes of the mentioned players, Makarova is at the peak of her shape with a slight drop which is unimportant for this match. Zhang is returning to solid shape, but she's still far from it. Makarova lost to Petekovic last time because her game was not on the level we expected it to be, and in key moments Petkovic hit lines, made less errors and played on an incredibly high level, which additionally frustrated Makarova. Zhang is in desperate shape and she finally played a solid match in the last round against Gibbs; but, she made a lot of errors and should have won more convincingly, which gives away a lot of insecurity, unreliability and game oscillations. Considering the surface in Charleston is a lot faster than the usual red clay, it should enable Makarova to win more "free" points because she's completely superior to Zhang on the serve. Also, she's superior in any other segment of the game, and even if Zhang were in top shape, Makarova should cover the mentioned handicap. Details

Let's start with the fact that Bencic is one of the youngest tennis players who's kept her high level of game during a match for the longest period of time. Her serve is somewhat shaky, but she can make that up very well against most of the players in exchanges. She moves quite well and knows the court, she can handle long exchanges and that will be her biggest advantage. Against Kovinic she's more confident who does a lot less unforced errors, and doesn't oscillate. Kovinic is not so secure, she plays firm, her serve is good, but she's prone to unforced errors and her game oscillates a lot. Realistically, Bencic is the better player currently, and all of the mentioned goes to the favor of her win because she's superior in key features. Most of the longer exchanges will be her and she will make less errors because of which she should cover the handicap. Details

I saw Mathias last season and he's not even close to Daniel's quality-level, which is why I don't understand why bookies value him so much. I would personally set the odds at Daniel's win at 1.4. He feels great, his form is improving and a lot can still be expected from him. He's mentally and physically tougher than Mathias. When it comes to shots, neither player has the upper level but when it comes to court and ball perception, Daniel is more superior. He is really a higher level and I think he should be able to win. Any other outcome would be a huge surprise. Details

Evgeny already gave the maximum of his tennis and what's currently offered is searching for himself and a goal he can't set. While his crisis was going on, Morgan should have acted as his anchor and guide, but that didn't function and each of them went their separate ways. Realistically, he can offer a lot more here, but he's been lost for some time here. He won twice, and if you ask me, it was expected of him. I didn't expect him to be as convincing against Przysiezny, but it's more his fault that Evgeny's hard work. We can still expect a lot from Nikoloz and it's only a question of time when will he become ATP level. In the first two rounds he won, as was expected; he's playing well and is so far mentally stable - which is a positive parameter considering tomorrow's match. What I can say for sure is that Nikoloz is playing better than Evgeny. He's a lot more confident in his hits, and they're more dangerous. Passion is also something very important in tennis, and currently Nikoloz is manifesting more of it than Evgeny. Sometimes that thing is key in winning points. All in all, I think Nikoloz should win because of all the reasons I've mentioned and personally, I would put a maximum of 1.5 odds on his win. For the braver ones or for a combo, I recommend a win in straight sets. Details

Despite the fact that the surface is better for Kravchuk, Rola is the better player and can offer a lot more solutions in game He's an ATP player when it comes to clay, and he's more on a challenger level when it comes to other ones; although that's slowly changing. Kravchuk has some solid results on challengers, but he's mostly on the same level. Rola is constantly going forward; both mentally and physically. When we look at them whole, Rola is better in every way, except on the serve. Kravchuk is quite limited and has big game oscillations, while Rola can keep the higher level of the game for a longer time. All in all, Rola is better, and he should come far on this tournament. I think the odds are too big and that the betting houses are underestimating him. Details

After a great comeback in the Tomic match, Berdych's confidence is flying high and he's more dangerous than normally as he proved it against Monfils, who didn't really stand a chance. After a bad fall, Monfils decided to retire but given his performance up to that moment, he probably used to fall to prevent any further frustration. Monaco has been doing good in Miami but that is still not even close to Berdych, in every segment of the game. He beat Verdasco on account of his Spanish opponent being one of the most inconsistent players. Berdych is doing his est at the moment, while Monaco still needs a few matches with the top opponents. Berdych is better in each segment, he's bursting with confidence and this handicap should be covered easily if he serves first. I think he will win by 6 or more games regardless and the more courageous among you can go with the higher margin too. Details

Nishikori's performances have been at a higher level quality-wise lately compared to Goffin. Japan's player feels great here and does his best in Miami. He beat Youzhny quite convincingly but that win is not as valuable since Youzhny doesn't seem to interested on the court. On the other hand, Troicki was a much better opponent who got his level up after somewhat poorer performances in Indian Wells. Goffin is quite reliable but the opponents he beat lately are not in great form and they're also not his level. Both players are playing similar tennis, which will suit Nishikori more than Goffin. I'm sure he'll win more rallies and more points both on his and opponents' service. I expect Nishikori to win by at least 6 games. Details

This is the first season in which Berdych showed consistency. He plays well against those he's expected to play against, and not against those he's not. He played a relaxed match against Chung in the first round here, and shifted up a gear whenever he got in a more dangerous situation and took the lead. He was losing 1-4 in the second set after a rain break, and then won the set 6-4 after he shifted up a gear. He started really badly against Tomic, it got even worse in the second set, but then he improved for a fantastic comeback; regardless of the poor performance, Tomic played really well until Berdych's comeback caused him to start falling apart. Monfils has also been rather good this season, but is still playing below his abilities, realistically speaking. In his first two rounds he beat Krajnović in a rather pale performance and later Tsonga, which is not much considering Tsonga hasn't been playing for a while and is out of shape. Berdych beat Monfils the last time they met, not so long ago, rather decisively. Right now both of them are playing worse than back then, but Berdych should still win with at least a two break lead. Petkovic lost to Diyas, Safarova, and Tsuernko recently, having been particularity weak mentally in all three matches, especially in the one against Diyas in which she literally broke down after the umpire made an obviously wrong call. She has been doing well but not reliably and confidently enough for top level tennis. She beat Mladenovic in the last round convincingly but when the opponent makes more than 40 unforced errors in two sets, there's really not way to lose. On the other hand, Makarova is great reliable, confident and calm. She is making progress match after match and has one goal - to win a Grand Slam. Her serve is convincing and doesn't make too many mistakes, compared to other players. She lost less convincingly to Safarova than Petkovic, while losing to Halep and Sharapova too. Makarova is more confident and more convincingly than Petkovic, with her game being at a higher level quality-wise. That is why I think she will cover this handicap. Details

From one match to the other the Azarenian is rising in quality and she showed against Jankovic that she is on a good path to reach the level she once was on. Creativity, firmness and safety in each aspect of her game were abundant in the match against Jankovic. Pennetta played well, but she's not close to Azareian's game. She mostly plays one or two good tournaments a year, and the rest are mediocre. Indian Wells was that one good tournament, where she achieved more than was expected. In Miami her game quality and interest fell, and Pironkova's tennis is not something that could jeopardize her. Even if she plays mediocre, because of that she won. Considering that Azarenka is currently better in each game segment, that she's in rising shape and that her appetite is growing. Pennetta is mildly going downward and her interests and quality are also going down. I expect Azarenka's convincing win with minimum of seven games of difference. Details

Despite Svitolina's occasional good game against the best players, she's still not that level, whatever people say. She's a great player without a doubt, but she lacks reliability and stability. She was pretty relaxed in the last match against Jovanovski, just enough. She'd push harder when she was losing, and she'd win the set, but Jovanovski is miles away from Makarova. Makarova has mental strength and she knows how to keep her focus high during the entire match, which makes her reliable and secure. She lost to Timea, she didn't know why herself, but she was completely down physically by the end of the second set, and she couldn't resist and play well anymore. The last match Svitolina and Makarova played was in Sydney this year, and Makarova won convincingly. She wasn't completely secure in the first set, and could have lost it easily, but she didn't. Svitolina slowly dropped her focus in the second, Makarova did the opposite, and won convincingly. The first match Makarova played here was against Knapp, she crushed her in the first set, and relaxed in the second, investing just enough strength to end the set. I expect Makarova to play much better today, and her serve to be firmer. Svitolina will definitely resist well, but I think Makarova is better enough to win. Details

Kanepi's two convincing win might suggest she's getting her form back, and we could see a good week. But, she defeated Abanda in the first round, a very bad player, and then Lepchenko in the second round. Lepchenko's got injury issues and is also playing badly. Wozniacki defeated Brengle here after losing to Bencic at the Indian Wells. Brengle's in a good form. Wozniacki doesn't feel too good in general when playing the Indian Wells, and Miami is a different story. As soon as Kanepi faces an opponent who can keep the rallies long, who's got clear and precise hits, she starts being frustrated and her game starts oscillating a lot. Wozniacki will take full advantage of that. Kanepi is in a disastrous form in general, especially mentally, and a player like Wozniacki will definitely not suit her. Having in mind that Wozniacki feels great in Miami, that she's playing great tennis, and that she's just better than Kanepi right now, I expect a convincing win, and Kanepi falling apart. Details

Berdych regularly loses only to top players, as his last match with Federer proved. He was taking quite a lot of risk in that game as he didn't want to let Federer run the game. That approach backfired, though, because Federer was at his best. Berdych is not set to face Chung, who is the perfect opponent for the Czech to get his confidence back. Berdych normally finishes with a game-difference of 6, except against the top players. Chung is still not mature, strong, or confident enough to put that handicap to risk. He is mostly doing well at challenger level but ATP tournaments are too much for him. He beat Marcel Granollers in the first round. Granollers was too passive and doesn't have good segments in this game, which allowed Chung's moving and sheer interest to prevail. A player with good serving, power and precision like Berdych will most likely beat Chung easily. As much motivation Chung might have, Berdych's quality level is just higher. I expect him to win by at least 4 breaks, which is more than enough for this handicap. Details

I don't think the difference in quality is this big in any other first round match. Azarenka is simply more superior when it comes to every segment of the game and she will win for sure. The only question is whether Soler will get a game in this match. She should get 4 at the most, but it's very likely that Azarenka finished at least one set with 6-0 or 6-1. That means the handicap should be good. Since Azarenka beat Wozniacki a bit over a month ago by 8 games, I don't see why Soler, who is much much worse than Wozniacki, should end up differently. Since the difference in quality is really too big, Soler will have to struggle to get any games. Details

Staky started the season really well, losing only to better players, while beating those worse than him, realistically speaking. He even managed to win matches he was losing, making comebacks and successfully closing. He rarely loses his serve, has good focus and the conditions here suit him well. Tim started the season in a so-so manner, focusing mostly on challengers, where he was quite successful, but still lost to players he should not have lost to. He often loses focus, which will be a big problem against quality players. Staky is still a better player in all segments of the game, able to keep playing at a higher level for a longer period, he is more creative and makes fewer unforced errors. He can also win more 'easy' points on his serve and put stronger pressure on his opponents serve. Since I don't see how Tim can threaten Staky, and since his game will have a lot of ups and downs and will stagnate with time both due to lesser quality and frustration, I expect Stakhovsky to win this decisively. Realistically speaking, these players belong to two different quality classes, and the realistic odds are 1.35 on Staky, tops. This is why I expected to go with a higher stake. Details

Genie practiced more than usual, with a clear goal, and that produced great movement on the court, return, and baseline game. She truly dominated her opponents in the last two rounds, and showed we can expect a lot from her in this tournament. Lesia moves well, but is inferior in any other segment. Her opponents playing badly helped her get this far first, and only then her game. Summing it all up, it's obvious that Genie will dominate the serve and baseline game, which should be enough to cover the offered handicap. Her win is not questionable, just how convincing it will be. Details

Novak has been doing his best for a while now and is able to cover the handicap against almost anyone, on any surface. He won AO, lost to Federer in Dubai in a match he could have just as easily won. Ramos is doing quite well this season. He beat Troicki, who was not very motivated. The match against Benneteau is not very important since the Frenchman played with an injury. Novak is better in every segment and anything but his convincing win would be a surprise. Details

Seppi is, typically, at the top of tennis. On this year's Australian Open he beat Federer, lost in Zagreb to Garcia-Lopez, and later to Gasquet and Berdych - usually he wins as the favorite, as well as he loses to better players. In Davis Cup he played somewhat worse against Kukushkin, but the Khazahstani always plays somewhat better when playing for his state. In the first set he showed something more and won it, after which Seppi god lost. Hanescu surprises us with his games, he beat Alex Kuznetsov, Basilashvilli and Juzni (who's extremely unmotivated). But, Seppi is one step above and he should win with at least five games of difference. Details

Halep got to the semifinal here last year, and has a lot of points to defend. Apart from that, she is focused on winning the title, and wants a Grand Slam title. She is in her regular good form, especially since she is no longer struggling with her ribs and ankle problems, but had a death in her family, which will be an extra incentive to put in effort and focus. Daria wa sin great form at the start of the year, but still lacked that extra something to get better results. Over the past few weeks she won what one would expect her to win, but is rather unimpressive and fades in and out during matches. Beating worse players with such performances is not that difficult, but her current flaws will be very apparent against Halep, which is why I believe she will lose, decisively. Interestingly, Halep beat Soler by nine games in the Fed Cup, while Daria beat the same player by five games. The overall difference in quality is still too big, and the current state is still not in favor of Daria; even if Halep were not giving her maximum, I believe she would still win by at least six games.
