Nurnberg's amateurs were the second most efficient team in the league last season with 72 scored goals, and with 67 conceded they were only more successful than two last placed teams in the standings. On average 4.08 goals were scored per game, and they covered the 2.5 over in 28/34 games, and 3.5 over at 20/34.
Even though they made a lot of changes to the team, nothing has changed. Their games are still filled with goals. After 11 rounds, their goal difference is 25-25 which is 4.54 goals per game. They covered the 2.5 goals over in 10/11 games, and the 3.5 over at 7/11. Only two teams scored more than them since the season started, leaders Munchen 1860 and Augsburg amateurs. Only schlading-Heinning conceded more goals than them.
Last season, Bayreuth had 3.17 goals per game on average, this season that average is higher, 3.90, and if we only look at the away games, it is 4.40. The leaders of the Danish championship, Nordsjaelland, have a chance to increase their lead because they are facing second-to-last AGF Aarhus.
Nordsjaelland lost several important players this Summer, but they still recorded good results this season. In 8 games they have 6-1-1 record and the most efficient offense in the league that scored 21 goal. Coach Hjuland insists on 3-4-3 fotmation in which Asante (7 goals), Marcondese (5) and Donyoh (5) scored 17 goals combined in 8 appearances. Nordsjaelland have scored at least 2 goals in 7/8 games this season. The only game where they scored only one was at home against local rivals Helsingor, but they could have easily scored more since Asante missed a penalty kick. At home they have all 4 wins and in 3/4 they scored 3 goals. In their last game, they defeated champions FC Kopenhagen 3-0. Today they cannot count on injured defender Pedersen who will be replaced by Da Silva or Mtiliga.
Aarhus are, with a 2-2-4 record, currently 13th in the league. Their away record is 0-1-2, against Silkeborg they conceded 2 and to Sonderjyske 3 goals. At Aalborg they managed to keep 0-0, but their job will be harder today. Aalborg scored 7 goals since the season started, while Nordsjaelland scored three times that. Aarhus lost to Randers 1-4 last week, a team that scored only 2 goals in 7 rounds before that game. For today's game they can count on striker Junker, but Anderson is still out.
Nordsjaelland have had 2-0, 3-3 and 3-2 in the last 3 home championship games against Aarhus. I expect them to play attacking football today as well, and I expect strikers Asante, Donyoh and Marcondes to score. Details

The Danish team has 8 player from the last qualifiers. Among them is top scorer Ingvarsten who scored 9 goals in 9 games. A lot of those players are defenders. Almost all the players on this team are starters in clubs they come from.

Denmark beat Faroe Islands 3-0 in the opening qualifier. Their record in the last qualifying cycle was 4-1-0. The only team that won a point was Wales who played a goalless draw in Denmark. Everyone else lost: Bulgaria 1-0, Armenia 2-0, Romania 3-1 Luxembourg 4-1.

Lithuania played one game in the group as well. They beat Faroe Islands home 3-0.

They have players from previous U21 and U19 teams. U21 team lost all away qualifiers without scoring a goal. They even lost to Andora 0-1. The U19 team is no better. They hosted a tournament last year and lost all three games to Bosnia, Austria and Azerbaijan.

The difference in quality is huge here. They play home, they're favorites in this group and will record another convincing win today. Details

Australia and Saudi Arabia are in the race for the second spot in Russia. If they finish with the same number of points, goal difference will be crucial. If that is the same, number of scored goals and then h2h meetings decide. Third best team from this group will have to play the third best team from the other group for another spot at World Cup.

In the last round, Australia will face bottom-table Thailand in the last round. They need to win today by as many goals as possible. A convincing win today will put the Saudis, who have the same number of points, in a difficult situation in a game against Japan home that will be played 7,5 hours after this one.

Australia's record is 3-1-0 but they didn't beat opponents convincingly (Iraq 2-0, Japan 1-1, Emirates 2-0, Saudi Arabia 3-2). However, they do have some big wins in the last 2 years home. Last year, they beat Tajikistan 7-0, Bangladesh 5-0, Jordan 5-1, Kirghistan 3-0. A year before that, they beat Kuwait 4-1, Oman 4-0 and Jordan 4-0.

Thailand are by far the worst team in the group with just 2 points won in 9 games and goal difference 5-22. They lost all 4 away qualifiers (S. Arabia 0-1, Emirates 1-3, Iraq 0-4 and Japan 0-4). They have no particular motivation here, apart from an honorable farewell. Paucgchan won't play with a suspension today.

I expect Australia to attack because they have no other choice. The goal is to score as many goals as possible. Details

Fener are after a convincing win and I believe they will get it today. I expect Vardar to focus on defense but we need to see to what extent will the Polish referee allow that. The pressure will undoubtedly be massive on him. Vardar are 0-2-4 in CL qualifiers in the last 5 years. They recorded a draw against APOEL and Malmo but those were the first leg games. Their 6 away games are: BATE 2-3. Steaua 0-3, APOEL 0-0, Dinamo Zagreb 2-3, Malmo 1-1 i FC Kopenhagen 1-4.. Fener are 8-3-1 in EL last few years. AMong those wins are the ones against Akax, Lokomotiva Moscow, Braga, Feyenoord and Man United). The draws are with Celtic, Krasnodar and Sturm. The defeat is to Molde in group stake. In CL qualifiers, they played the last three games home: Monaco 2-1, Shakhtar 0-0 i Salzburg 3-1. All of those teams are much better than Vardar. Fener don't have many games in Europe with 3 or more goals but they didn't meet opponents like Vardar. Mostly, their opponents were better teams. Also, they were never in a situation where they had to try and make up for this kind of deficit. Still, they scored 3 goals against Grasshoppers, Atromitos and Salzburg. Things are better when it comes to Vardar and their conceding of away goals: they conceded or more in 4 out of 6 games in the last 5 years. We need to note that they will be without key defender, team captain and most experienced player Grncarov (suspension). I expect Fener to score goals and I don't think Vardar will be able to take the pressure. Details

Linfield are defending champions, both in league and cup. They are to open the season against one of the weakest team. They beat them all 4 times last season by more than one goal and without conceding any.

On the other hand, Carrick are completely different because many starters left (7 in total). Five of them were starters in the final LK game which Carrick lost and which was the only good thing about this team last season.

Linfield didn't concede a goal in 9 out of 18 home games last season. They didn't concede any goals to Carrick in any of the last 4 matches. Carrick didn't score in 11 out of 20 away games of the last championship. In those 9 in which they did score, 7 were against teams in the lower part of the table. They scored only 2 goals against top teams (Crusaders and Balymena, lost both 1-3). Details

This is the meeting between two teams from the same town. Jablonec are heavy favorites as they play in the top division, compared to Jiskra, who are a fourth-tier. We have two comparable games here. Jablonec beat Jiskra 10-0 in a preparation game last winter, and this summer, they won 7-0).
Jablonec's coach said his team will be responsible in this game. They have the next championship meeting in 4 days. Not many players stayed and they also changed the coach. The goal is to stay in this league. They have one point from the visit to Geneva from the first two rounds. They lost to Xamax as expected in the previous round. Before the season, Xamax were one of the main contenders for the title alongside Schaffhausen.
The home team might be without Mikari and Gul today but they didn't play against Wohlen either. Chiasso are without forward Soumah, who is suspended.
Schaffhausen seem even better with the new team and we are expected to see them win easily and convincingly once again. Details

Slovan will play with subs and players from their junior team. Even though everyone who didn't play Pyunik was expected to play this game, Vukmanovic doesn't want to risk anything with those who are not fully fit. Among them is definitely forward Cavric, a U21 Serbian international, and most likely Kubik as well. Slovan cannot be the favorites against Nitra like that. For comparison's sake, Nitra played the second league last season with Slovan B team (a similar team is expected today) and had 39 goals (+18 goal difference), while Slovak had 14 points and -29 goal difference in regular season. Nitra won both games (home 3-2 and 3-1 away). Since the home team could be a lot like their B team today, I don't expect Nitra to lose. Details

The Russian and Slovenian teams are preparing for the next season in Austria. This is their first test game. Celje are without team captain Jovicevic who left the team together with 12 other players (top goal keeper Kotnik (21x last season), Žiga Kous (13x starter), Damir Hadžić (30/24-1 goal), Dalibor Volaš (26-15 goals, top scorer), Goran Cvijanović (23/21-1), Goran Galešić (3x), T. Klemenčić (12/7x starter), Matej Podlogar (31/25-5 goals), A. Lovrenčić (10/2x starter), Lovre Čirjak (24/22-5 goals), I. Hadžić (16/9-4 goals) and Tomislav Barišić (8x starter). Six of those players were there for the last championship game against Domzale (Celje beat them 4-1). A lot of players will be tested at Celje. Rubin finished last season in spot 9. Great news is that their former coach Berdyev is back. He's been in charge of the team for 13 years and they won the Cup and championship with him. They have been in Austria since June 9 and this game is to conclude the first part of the preparation period. They have a lot of players who have been on the team for a while now, unlike the Slovenians who are without a lot of players from last season. Rostov are a better team, especially with their old coach. Details

Belarus beat Bulgaria 2-1 three days ago, in the qualifier for WC. They will face off New Zealand today. Coach Kriushenko sent 6 of his starters home to rest and says those who didn't play the Bulgaria match will probably play this one. The rest of the starters will be spared as much as possible too, especially knowing that the Bulgarian championship resumes on Thursday. New Zealand will play the upcoming Confederation Cup which is to start on Friday. Belarus are their final test. The Kiwis started to prepare in Ireland where they played Northern Ireland and lost 0-1 some 10 days ago. A few days later, they beat Cabinteeley 5-2. Their opponents are a second-tier team. Coach Hudson said that the next game is important for them to get some confidence before the Russia game in 5 days. He said that the team is now strong while Belarus won't have most of the top players. Hudson will go with the best he has. The race for a spot on the team is fierce and everyone on New Zealand will try their best. I therefore don't expect them to lose. Details

France failed to secure a spot at EC, which saw the coach leaving. The new coach Ripoli will start the new qualifying cycle in September with the completely redesigned team. Only three from the old team are still there. France are an inexhaustible source of talent as the new list proves. Coach Ripoli had a debut three days ago in Tirana where his team beat Albania easily 3-0. He is now to play Cameroon, whose U21 team rarely plays games. Their U20 team failed to get into ACN semis and in turn to U20 WC which is taking place in Korea now. The plan was for them to send 16 players from the domestic league and only 6 from abroad to this game but all of them had their visas refused. Coach Wessack is in serious trouble. He now has a team that was put together in haste with players from Europe. All of those players are not important for their clubs. France beat a similar Ivory Coast team in November last season 5-1 and shouldn't have any trouble today. Details

The Czech Reoublic are getting ready for the EC which is to take place in ten days. They won top spot in their qualifying group, coach Lavicka has a perspective young team. They chose to play Azerbaijan whom they already beat 5-0 a few days ago. The difference in quality was massive and Azerbaijan stood no chance. To even make any comparisons between these two teams makes no sense. I expect the Czechs to win easily again. Details

A friendly game between two African team which was supposed to be played yesterday, but it was delayed for today, and will be played at Libreville instead of Franceville. This is the last test before the ACN 2019 Cameroon qualifiers. Gabon will be playing at Mali in 5 days and Zambia will be playing at home against Mozambique. Zambia are coming here with locally based players, which means there will be no international players. There also won't be any players from their top two clubs, Zanaco and Zesco (these two teams won 12 championship titles combined in the last 15 years). The reason for that is the fact that the CAF Championship League and CAF Confederation Cup, in which they are competing, are happening at the same time. Zambia have not participated at the last ACN early this year in Gabon, because they failed to qualify. They played their last official game mid-November last year, at Cameroon (1-1). Selector Wedson Nyirenda cannot count on any starters from that game. We can see in how bad a position Zambia are just by the fact that they also cannot count on 8 players who were reserves in that last game. Only three players who were on the bench back then are in the squad now.
Unlike them the home team's selector, Camacho, can, of 23 players, count on 18 legionares. Their top star is P. E. Aubemeyang from Dortmund who was the top scorer in the German championship (32-31 goal). There are also Dennis Buanga from French Tours who was the third top scorer in the French second division (26-16), Sunderland's Ndong (31/27-1), Cardiff's Manga (21/16x starter), Obiang (23/15 starter) who advanced to the French Ligue 1 with his team, Kanga from the Crvena Zvezda... In comparison to the ACN Gabon hosted this year, goalkeeper veteran Ovono is not here, and Tandjigore and Lemine, Zambia have not lost their last two friendlies (Uganda 1-0 and Zimbabwe 0-0), but they were not so decimated with absences in those games. On the other hand, Gabon will be run out in their strongest lineup, with Africa's biggest star right now, Aubameyang.
