A bet for a small number of goals is suggested even when you take a look at their last games, regardless of the competition, so we can see Guimarães have 6/7 unders, and guests 9/10, and only four goals in the last five games.     I'm convinced that the difference between these two teams isn't as big as the 1.25 odds would suggest for Lemgo. It makes no sense at all in my book, and it's mostly that big because of Lemgo's 35-35 against Hamburg. If they played again today, it would be +10 for HSV, I'd bet my life on it, but it's a different story about HSV. Lemgo and Balingen played in a way that the last minute decided in the last five games, while Lemgo are weaker in quality, but not the results. It's an extremely important game for the guests, far more than for Lemgo, and if the right back Hafner was ready, which he isn't and won't be playing, I'd go with a far bigger stake.     The situation on the table clearly shows the difference between Vibo and Trentino. Vibo are currently the tenth-placed team with 2 wins against Verona and Ravenna who cannot be compared to Trentino. On the other hand, Trentino are the third-placed team and it is clear they have to win as they want to keep up with the leadin duo. Out of 10 games, including the national championship and the Champions League, they have nine wins and only 1 defeat against Macerata.     The first thing that pops to my mind at the mention of France is the brilliant defense. Not much has changed since Krumbholz left, actually, Portes demands an even more aggressive approach in that segment of the game. New coach said it all in his statement that for him, a quality match is not only the one where players concede less than 20 goals. Since he took over, Slovakians scored 18, Finns 13, Tunisians 18 twice in a friendly duels against them. I can't say anything for Finland, but Slovakia and Tunis definitely are a level above Congo in terms of offense. Tunis played a tied match against Angola in the African Cup finals, while Congo lost to Angola in the semifinals with 20 points difference. The score was 39-19 then, and Angola defeated them in the group with 40-15, and it's not a secret they're not that brilliant when it comes to defense. The French are a lot stronger in that segment, and I can't even imagine Congo scoring only one goal less than the far stronger teams. Just for the sake of comparison, thea French team left a team like Sweden with 17 scored goals on the last EC, Serbia with 18, and that's a whole other level of handball for this African representative.     This should be a lot more even game than the odds are showing. Aris are a young team who could have troubles with their role of a favorite today, most of all because they're facing an experienced team known for an excellent defensive game, and that's what I base my tip on today. Ilysiakos limited almost all of their opponents under 70 points, at least when it comes to the clubs of Aris's quality. They play to get more points against the strongest/quickest teams in the league, and that's reasonable. Aris would be happy with slower basketball with strong defenses, so they didn't go over 67 points not even once this season. I see today's match as one where there will be about 60 points on each side, and it seems a good choice to take an under on this margin for Aris. Details

    There was a report this morning that it took ZAKSA 27 hours to travel to Gdansk. The drama started yesterday afternoon when their flight from Krakow was cancelled and they had to take the bus. There is a huge storm with deep snow and strong winds in Poland and the bus trip took 27 hours which is why they arrived to their hotel only at about 8 AM this morning. They have a hard and unexpected defeat against Roeselare in the Champions League and they have a crucial game against Friedrichshafen next week and I don't think they will be in a good form after their Polish odyssey.

    On the other hand Trefl have a certain quality that isn't always apparent. After difficult defeats against Resovia and SKRA, this is an ideal chance to redeem themselves. The motivation is high and ZAKSA is an ideal opponent after a hard journey and the Champions League shock.

    The odds are already dropping on the home team as the market started to react but the value is still high on Trefl. A win is not a bad option, for a smaller stake. Details

    I think the bookmakers paid too much attention to the stats and the league table in this match. It's true Taipans have six defeats in a row, but it's also true they were supposed to win four out of those six. Taking into consideration they played against the leading Wildcats twice, that row isn't that bad. What's more important for this bet to me now is the last match between these two. Then, Tragardh and Loughton were completely out of shape, and still outplayed 36ers centers. Taipans lost because of the awful last quarter which they lost with 14 points difference. Wilson played a good game, and he showed he could outplay Ervin last season. I'm coming to the main reason for this pick. Adelaide 36ers allow the most three-point shoots, and Taipans were the leading team with their three-pointer shoot percentage until a few rounds ago. With 36ers fatigue in mind, because they played an uncomfortable and difficult away game less than 24 hours ago, it's clear the home team will have more space in the offense.     The Kings are far from a reliable team but I believe they can take advantage of the problems in the home team's dressing room as they will be without Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash once again and will probably not be able to count on Chris Kaman. Jordan Farmar was also injured in their defeat against the Blazers and this leaves them with only one playmaker - Steve Blake, who used his left hand in the shooting practice due to problems with his elbow. In addition, Paul Gasol is struggling with his ankle and Jordan Hill is not at his 100 % and I consider this a too big handicap for them to beat the Kings who simply have to get a breakthrough. They've lost five games in a row, 3 of them by five points and they lost one game in over-time. Their only other defeat was inflicted by none other than the Lakers (100-86) but in a much better condition.     After a nerve wrecking end of the last season, and less than convincing start to the new one, Benfica are finally winning and currently share the first position with Sporting following the string of five championship wins. They are two points ahead of Porto and still have to play three teams from the bottom part of the championship table till the end of the year, which is why we can expect them to at least stay two points ahead until their head to head game. They are a great favorite for the win against the humble Arouca, despite missing Matic and Cardozo. The fans are certainly happy because they are now able to win even when they're not playing good, which happened against Braga and in some previous games. Arouca are an opponent against which Cardozo's absence won't be as significant because Lima is finally back in form. Rodrigo and Lima will lead their defense today, and I don't think that visiting team's slow defense can do anything about them. They are both faster than Cardozo and their mobility will create space for the other offense players.
    This is Arouca's first time among the best teams, and they've been holding up quite well until the fifth round, and then lost the last seven games. In best case scenario, they will be fighting not to be relegated, coach's position is already not safe. It's hard to expect he can survive getting only 2 out of the possible 21, or even 24 points. Their game relies on attempts from the distance and set pieces, but even that will be difficult tonight - they first need to gain possession for it.
    Just to compare, Porto played one of the two worst games of the season against Arouca and won by 2 goals away, which will be no problem for Benfica home. The odds of around 1,60 are quite good, given the difference between the teams, and the fact that it's under 1,45 in most betting houses. Details

    This is a very important game for both teams. Pao are in a tricky situation as they have to think about securing the second phase at all and not about being the top of the group that was the aim before this season. If Zvezda lose and Laboral beat Rytas in Vitoria, the Serbian team will be without any chances. What Pao have shown so far is very disappointing and this especially refers to the first halves when they lost by some 15 points against Rytas at home, or in Vitoria when they allowed 55 and were losing by 11, and Belgrade as they allowed 48 and were down by 16. I expect them to be at a top level today from the first minute and in these circumstances they are one of the best defensive teams in Europe. Before the first game, we had a tip for under 153 points for a strong stake (7/10) that failed because of Schilb's 3-pointer that took the game into over-time, but the regular time ended in 148 points. Today we will have the same tip but with a slightly lower margin (150.5). The Greeks can and will push Zvezda as they did in the second half of the first game when the allowed only 26 points. The key is to prevent Blažič, Nelson and Jenkins from running, while Gist can guard Schilb and if they know how to do it, they've don 70 % of their job. It is a situation in which you can't relax and when you put the pressure on Zvezda and you take this away from them they become a sub-par team. Statistically speaking, this is not a good tip - Pao have 3 unders without over-time, Zvezda only 2, but these are completely different circumstances and I will adapt to them. Details

    Narbonne may be in the penultimate position, but at least they are displaying the game that took them to the play off semi final last year in their home games. Paris, Beauvais, and Montpellier, teams much better than St. Nazaire, were defeated there. This is a very important game for the home team, December is the last month in which they can try to keep up with the others for the play off, and winning is the only way to do so. St. Nazaire won twice away, against less than convincing Nantes, and Lyon, who were decimated by injuries. Nazaire won only one set against the teams Narbonne beat home. It was in their 1-3 defeat to Beauvais. Narbonne are for sure a better quality team with more experienced individuals, and the home arena will count as a great advantage as well. They need to win the points, just like St. Nazaire, but I decided on a better quality team tonight. Details

    The base for this bet comes from a few facts that apply to this game only. First of all, VSV are the team in the best form currently in EBEL, they have eight consecutive wins, best offense and best power-play. Their game system is completely offense oriented. They have been scoring 9, 3, 4, 5, and 7 goals in the last few games, and they scored the least goals (3 and 4) to the best team of the league - Red Bull. VSV scored ten goals against Innsbruck in the last game, and Innsbruck are quality-vise much closer to Alba than Bikov. They scored seven against a much stronger Linz. VSV are the most efficient team in the league, they score over four goals per game, and concede almost three. Furthermore, Villach's goalie in this game will be a junior team member since both of their goalies are injured. First choice goalie Lamoreux got injured after the last game, and that's important since he is not only one of the best goalies in the league, but also one of the important links in Villach's defense, which has been doing very good for a while now. Besides, his substitute Hoeneckl is injured, and Mario Altmann, one of the best defensemen in the league and VSV's top 4 defenseman, will miss the second consecutive game. Without him, VSV already conceded three goals in Innsbruck in the last game. That is why Alba, who, truth be told, have one of the worst offenses in the league, can certainly manage to score more than their average 2,5 goals against VSV in this situation. Their defense won't stand a chance against VSV's offense and one of the best offensive lines with Ryan (scored four goals in the last game!), Pewal, and Hughes, despite conceding just over 3 goals per game on average. The final score of their last head to head game was 6-3 for VSV, which is significantly over these margins, even though the game took place in Villach. Details

    Graz have been a disaster lately and their results show it. This is mostly because their offense is particularly poor for the past several reasons, although it wasn't much better at the start. But now they're in a crisis and with four defeats in a row and are very demoralized having dropped to 8th spot (they were in Top 6 until recently, but the defeat against KAC caused them to drop from 7th to 8th spot). Overall, Graz have barely scored 2.5 goals per game, that is 2.57 but they also concede a few goals as they have one of the best defenses in the league but are too defensively minded and rigid. In terms of roster, Graz has an enormous lack of talent in offense as apart from Kinasewich and Latendresse, they have no real shooters and offensive enthusiasts. Greg Day provides the assists, Labelle and Francis Lemiuex are constantly between injury and recovery, Lefbvre is not good, Kaspitz is out of form while Moderer, Woger and Zusevics are not playing well enough. And these are their top three offensive line-ups. Their defense is very defensively oriented and they have no defender that can score a goal ever since Sertich left while their form in recent games is perhaps the best example of how terrible their offense is. They lost their last game against KAC, having scored 0 goals in a very important game and the derby for the 7th spot. Before that, they lost against Boen 4-1 at home, 4-3 at Vienna and 3-1 at Alba. This means they have scored a goal at most in their last three out of four games while they have a 3-1 win against Znojmo and a 2-1 defeat against Red Bull. This means they rarely score over two goals, especially lately. And now they're facing the leader from Salzburg against whom they've already lost 2-1 at home and 5-0 away which means they haven't gone over the 2.5 goals margin in either game. In my opinion, going for this margin at 2.5 goals is a good option, especially considering the current form of Graz and the strength of Red Bull. The odds are too high to reflect the real state of things. Details

Middle back Karlsson and right backs Soby and Meinby are doing well below expectations. Team's productivity dropped significantly when the key people from the last season, Mork, Koser, and Baling, left. They will be able to stand against Skanderbrog today since they have the top level goalkeeper Pedersen and they can put together a good defense. But, the visiting team won't have their first choice middle back, and very important Vaever, their left wing and best scorer, which will cause problems in their offense. I expect a tough game filled with tension. Each and every point is important for Mors in the battle to stay in the league, and every point is important for the visiting team in the battle for the play off. Skanderborg won their first head to head game 26-23 after 16-12 at half time. I expect the game today to end at around 50 scored goals, which is why I really like these 53,5. Details

    When the EuroLeague draw was announced and we learned that CSKA, Barcelona, and Fenerbahce will play in group A, a lot was expected from their head to head games. Those were supposed to be the best basketball games in Europe, but they fell short of expectations. All games were settled long before the end, they were all mostly easy wins dominated by only one team. CSKA lost easily both in Barcelona and Istanbul, Fenerbahce conceded 35 points in Barcelona in the first quarter, while they beat both of those teams home. It's high time we finally saw a good game and I'm convinced that Obradovic prepared his players for this game and that it will be a tie till the end. Messina is trying a lot of different things in CSKA this season, Teodosic's role is quite insignificant, but he was the key man in the last week's game in Ukraine - he made the difference. Krstic is miles away from the player we say in Eurobasket and last season, one of the reasons for that being the fact Messina is giving Hines and Kaun a lot of time on the court, probably for the sake of better defense, which as a result causes worse offense, even though Hines is proving to be good in offensive rebound. Either way, this CSKA is not very convincing, they struggled home both against Budivelnik and against Nanterre, and I expect struggle against Fenerbahce as well. The Turks may not have the muscle and toughness that CSKA have, but they have a lot in Bogdanovic, McCalebb, Kleiza, Bjelica that CSKA don't have in Jackson, Pargo, Hrjap. Either way, I give Fenerbahce a lot more trust than this handicap. Details
