In the next three days, Luxembourg will host the qualifying tournament for the European Championship for small countries. The best two teams will get a spot at the final tournament while the best team here gets a visa for the second qualifying round for 2017 World Championship. Iceland and Scotland are to open this tournament. Scotland are the favorites on paper because of their better reputation and better results from previous years. Scotland are here without their top player and team captain Beattie, who is a receiver. They will also be without one other receiver Couts and two opposites. An Italian expert Capriotti has been in charge at Iceland for 2 years now. There is a big improvement regarding their game and results since he took over. Last year at European Championship for small countries (which Scotland didn't play) they won spot 3 with 2 wins and 2 defeats. They beat Lichtenstein 3-0, San Marino 3-1 and lost to Luxembourg 1-3 and Montenegro 0-3. Iceland have been preparing for this for two months. They are complete and have played test games against Denmark some ten days ago. Denmark won both 3-1. Denmark are at least one level higher than Scotland in quality and even a set for Iceland here has value. Iceland are very ambitious and want to finish in one of the top two spots. They have a big chance not to win just one set, but for much more. Set at Iceland should not be paid with more than 1,75-1,80.
