This Hungarian team played only one game under 50 goals, their last preparation game against the World Champions, France. Before that they played 28 games at over 50 goals, and a few days earlier at 58 against France, but that was an exception. They were under this margin against offensively weak Chile (at 50), and twice against Germany in 2014. In short, this Hungary is offensively one of the most powerful teams of this generation, with Juhasz and Gyori in main roles. Aside that game against Chile, last year at the World Championship, they were at 56 goals only against strong Sweden in an important game, they went over 60 in all other games, even against Poland. In the preparation for this competition, they played at 60 and 54 goals in April and 61 and 53 goals a few weeks ago against Spain, who have a top defense.
Croatia improved their defense a bit in the last games, but they are far from the top of this generation. This team is limited in that part. Their opponents in the April qualifiers were not very good, and the preparation games against Macedonia, who have similar style to Metalurg's, are different from what we will see today. Against strong Switzerland, who conceded the least goals in the qualifications, Croatia played at 53 and 65 goals mid-July. This game is very important, but even when I take that into consideration, the margin is too low for these teams. Also, we have that game from the European Championship from two years ago that went up to 59 goals. I see today's game quite over 50.
