Veszprem lost to Vardar last night, they played against Ancsin, Sulic, Palmarsson, Gajic, and Ivancszik and Mikler got minimum playing time... It is hard to believe they can lose two back-to-back games

Veszprem will not have an easy job in the SEHA League as they have had in the Hungarian Championship for years. They lost their second game 28-22 to Vardar. When we look at Alilovic and Mikler's 8/37, then Nagy0s 1/5, Kopljar's 1/4 or Chema Rodriguez's 1/5, only 22 goals in Milic's net (Sterbik stayed on the bench), then the defeat is not that surprising. The defending champions played a game below every level and were down from start to finish.

- We played really slow or maybe that was because of Vardar's defense. In the second half we played better defense, but we couldn't stop Karacic and Cindric. Milic was also great on the goal. He was saving great when needed the most. We wanted, but we just couldn't - said the Hungarian coach Xavier Sabate. 

- I believe in these players 200%, we have to learn the lesson from this game. We have to work really well and show how hard we're working. 

Sabate and his players don't have to wait long for a redemption chance. They are still in Skopje and they will face Metalurg tonight, who a few days ago gave Vardar a hard time and lost only 25-24.

Sabate made a lot of rotations in some positions last night, for example Nagy and Kopljar, we should expect Sliskovic to get more playing time over Ilic who had 8/13 (4/4) last night, and Mikler will probably play as well. He only got in to shoot a seven meter throw. Gajic, Palmarsson, Sulic, Lekai, Aflitulin and Ancsin were not even registered. Gulyas and Marguc got some playing time on the right wing. 

If the Hungarians made two teams, they would probably face each other in the SEHA league final. So it is not really relevant who will be playing tonight. 

- Despite the short period, we will do everything we can to prepare in the best way. We have seen the outcome of the Macedonian derby, we are aware that it won't be easy, but are going for a good performance and win, as always - said Laszlo Nagy. 

Lino Cervar is creating a new team in Metalurg again, but clearly a competitive one. He acquired players from everywhere. Goalkeeper Arsic made 15 saves against Vardar, Mladenovic, Serbian middle-back who came from France, scored 5 out of 7 shots and he will be one of their key players. Taleski clearly has complete freedom (5/14) and when he is completely recovered, we can expect the same with Neloski. 

- It was a tense game with a lot of mistakes on both sides. They had more luck in the end. We are still collecting experience and improving for the future games. There were some good moments, but also some mistakes due to lack of experience - said Cervar, who acquired Serbian left-back Milos Dragas two days ago. 

He struggled with an injury last season, didn't play much in Bergischer. If he is fit and healthy, he can help in both directions. It is possible he will have his debut today. 

- Veszprem are a team that have made a revolution in handball by acquiring 30 players. They have some big names, and they will be a challenge for us. We definitely won't give up - said Lino.

- I hope that the fans will help us strengthen our defense and be creative in offense, with less mistakes. We have to match their quality with combativeness.

Cervar's team managed to stand up to Vardar last week but I would take those 13 goals they scored against Vardar with a pinch of salt. Vardar's defense wasn't even close to where it was yesterday against Veszprem. Metalurg scored 10 goals against Meshkov and Nexe in preseason games and Veszprem's defense is one level better than those two.
They played a ton of Hungarian league games and limited many opponents to under 10. They have not met as tough and slow opponents as Metalurg so far but they also haven't met anyone dangerous enough to force them into doing their best.
If I would have to draw any comparisons, it would be with Tatbanyan, a tough team for the upper part of the Hungarian table. Vesprem had a 17-10 lead against them at half time.
Veszprem did play Vardar yesterday but they have enough players and that won't be noticeable. They need to have respect for Metalurg after the draw with Vardar and they need to have motivation as well. This team was built to become European champions.
Overall, Metalurg are limited in offense, they play slow and they are about to face the motivated Veszprem, one of top teams and defenses in Europe. It's hard to expect them to go over 10 goals from friendly matches with weaker teams.
For comparison's sake, the team Cervar pushed to Champions League QFs two years ago had a much greater offensive potential and they scored 22 goals against Veszprem home (12 at half time).
