Ludwigsburg - Giessen (83:77)

The table itself suggests that this is a very important match for both teams. Ludwigsburg are currently ninth with 8-10 record, they're first below the playoff line, at home they're in a five-league game losing run, it's clear that each next one keeps them further away from the playoffs because the competition are bigger than they were last year. Giessen are first above the line, their record is 10-10, so this match means a lot to them. If they win, they would move further away from Ludwigsburg. Ludwigsburg are defensively one of the strongest teams in the league, on average their games end at 152 points, at home they're under 146. If we take a look at their home games against defensively stronger teams, with Brose they were at 108, Bayern at 140, Bayreuth and Oldenburg they went slightly over today's margin, but those teams have great, if not the best, offense in the league. Recenly they limited Ulm at home to 67 points, they played in the quarter-finals of the cup under 140 points. Giessen are similar to the hosts when it comes to the gamestyle, they have a wide rotation, they play aggressively, they press a lot, so it's no surprise the first head-to-head was at 130 points. Giessen are on average in the league at 153 points, they have more overs than unders on today's margin, mostly due to high numbers in away games. But it's hard to compare Ludwigsburg to Telekom, Alba, Oldenburg or Wurzburg.
Both teams claim this is an important game, we have two defensively solid teams with average offenses (11th and 15th in Bundesliga), it's hard to expect the game to fall apart. I expect defenses to dominate the game just like in the first head-to-head, the number of points under their average.
