Barcelona B lost the first two games of the championship as expected. Prat and Castello were too strong, their main player Pena was out, and he'll be out today as well because Barcelona's first team are playing the Euroleague in Kazan. Their main offensive problems are obvious, because their offense consists of juniors. The exception is the center Trias who hit 16 points against Castello last weekend, and added 15 rebounds, so he was basically the only one who did anything. Castello were up by 16 points after the first half already, and just had to finish the job later on. Gipuzkoa played a Basque derby against Araberrio last Friday, winning up by 15 points, mostly thanks to the great defense. The San Sebastian team will obviously be one of the best teams of the league defensively. They left Araberri at 54, they beat Palma in the away game in the previous round, 75-67. Palma are a very good team, much better than Barcelona B on paper. The coach Fisac pointed out that his goal tonight is to control the game rhythm, not be trying to outrun the Barcelona's boys.
Gipuzkoa are much more experienced than the home team, with players who have experience of playing the first league (Uriz, Pino, Šlezas), some who had important roles in their second-league teams last season, and considering the coach Porfirio Fisac's philosophy, I think Barcelona will struggle in this match. The Catalonians hit 51, 72 and 64 points this season. The 64 were against Castello who are one of the fastest teams in the Spanish second league. In those three games, Barcelona never went over 31 in the first half. Gipuzkoa, on the other hand, never allowed over 32 in the first 20 minutes in the championship.
