Belarus and Albania played in this competition last year and both games were settled in the fifth set. What's important now is that neither team has changed. They met in Poland last year and Belarus won the fifth set 15-10. Compared to the teams that played back then, Belarus will be without starting receiver Silantsyeva. That match finished at 198 points. The other game was played in Albania but it had no importance. Belarus played it without starting receiver Malasai while middle blocker Klimovic played only the first set. Thaka didn't play for Albania. That match finished with 212 total points and a win for Albania.
Both teams have so far lost to Finland in Tirana. Albania put up a better fight than Belarus to win 7 total points more. Belarus were convincing against Austria and recorded a straight sets win. I expect Albania to win at least a set here. Belarus are weaker than last season and have struggled in WC qualifiers against Bosnia. Bosnia are better than Albania. Albania went over this margin in 6 Europa League matches. They even did that against Poland, who were ahead of Belarus in the group. More importantly, they played Slovakia at 185 and 177 points. Slovakia beat Belarus twice in Europa League and finished in second, losing the final to Azerbaijan. We can say that Albania are better than last year and they will do everything they can to give Belarus a hard time here. They managed to do it last season and I don't see why today would be any different. The margin is at least 4 points too low and I don't see this ending in three sets. The alternative is 3,5 set over offered by Pinnacle.
