Other than Shenzen where she reached semifinals, Zheng is having a horrible season. She recorded 3 out of her 8 wins this season. Out of the other 5, 2 happened after the opponent retired. That leaves us with three. She beat Xu (ITF level), Tanasugarn who is outside of Top 250, and Watson, who clearly has more problems than it seemed at first. Zheng is having great injury struggles clearly since she injured her left thigh in Hobart, pulled out of a Fed Cup match and needed medical assistance last week after pulling out of Dubai qualifying match. Kozlova will soon be a Top 100 player, she is focused on WTA level this season only and that is proving to be the right decision. She has a very good serve, with a a lot of spin. Zheng is better ranked abut Kozlova is more consistent and better. The surface in Kuala Lumpur will suit the latter. Zgeng is in the main draw for the first time ever because she played passive opponents with weaker short and poorer serving than Kozlova.
