Reid will be missing couple of their important players in a match against one of the main favorites to win the title this year

Reid didn't lose a single match this season, but today they will be missing a couple of players due to injuries. They play against Salzburg, club with arguably the best first-team squad in the competition.

Both Ried and Salzburg haven't lost a single match this season. Seven rounds had been played in Austrian Bundesliga and both teams have 15 points on their account. And while these kind of results were certainly expected from Salzburg, Reid's streak of victories is definitely a big surprise.

Young coach's Micheal Angerschmid team won three consecutive matches before the two weeks long pause because of international matches. If they win against Salzburg they could find themselves on the top spot position on the table. Although, realistically speaking, this would be a huge success for Ried, it needs to be mentioned that Salzburg failed to win against Reid in four matches that they have played last season. Also, both clubs weren't very active on the transfer market during summer and most of the players that have played previous four matches will be on the field today. Ried will be playing in front of their own crowd and good attendance is expected.


-Although Salzburg has better individual players than we do, last season's matches had shown that we know how to play against them. Those matches should be a guideline for us how to play today against Salzburg - said coach Angerschmid who will be missing couple of his important players today.


Injuries have struck their young internationals Zulj (angina) and Ziegl (ankle). Also, we won't be seeing defender Janeczek and forward Kreuzer on the field today, not to mention that midfielder Reiter is struggling with long term injury and he didn't play a single match this season. But, there is also a couple of good news for them. Midfielder Sandro and forward Perstaller will be back in the team after they both missed their last round match against Admir (Reid won 4-1).


- Salzburg has the advantage, but we will fight and try to play our best. If we manage to score, we could end this match undefeated - Angerschmid said. Although Read's coach is expecting a good performance, it needs to be said that they will be facing a better team today. Also, every streak of good results must come to an end, and Reid will also have to lose eventually. 


Salzburg had a tremendous start of the season but after that they had slown down a bit. Mostly because they are playing on two fronts - domestic league and Europa League where they will be facing Elfsborg this Thursday. Head coach Roger Schmidt had seven of his first-team players fulfilling their international duty in the last couple of weeks. Most of the players came back at the club last Thursday and the good news for Schmidt is that none of these players came back injured. With injury-free squad the away team doesn't have any excuses and they are coming to Reid to secure another victory.


- We must try to keep things as simple as possible. Our transition from defense to offence must be quick and with as little complications as possible. If we succeed to score some goals I am confident that we will be leaving Reid with three points in a bag. That would take us one step closer to our main goal this season - winning the title -said Schmidt.


Salzburg is expected to start the match in their standard 4-4-2 formation.

Ried and their results in the first seven rounds are to be applauded, but it is time for their winning series to end, as the best team of the league, Salzburg, are coming to town. Salzburg's claim to being best will require proving, of course, but the team coached by German Roger Schmidt will have plenty of motivation to do so.
Fumbles again Ried cost Salzburg their title last year, as they have not managed to beat their tough opponent in four games, squandering as much as nine points through one loss and three ties. Smart men and good sports teams learn from their mistakes though, so the lesson was surely not lost on Salzburg, and they will want payback for all the frustrations from last season.
The guests are arriving to Ried in full, with their strongest lineup at the moment, and a string of players that Ried cannot hope to match. Soriano, Mane, Alan and Kampl are a quartet of offensive aces the home team will find difficult to neutralize. It is hard to imagine that Ried will be able to mount an adequate answer, as they are missing their main creative power, Zulj, and a few more pieces that made their winning mechanism so far.
The home team will surely not go down without a fight, but when they are motivated and in the mood, Salzburg are too fast and too powerful even for team way better than Ried. Quality plus lots of motive add up to Salzburg winning, and Ried will look for a make up exam against an easier opponent.
Of the last 15 league clashes between these rivals, Ried won only once, losing nine times.
