San Lorenzo wants to get on the top of the table

After Godoy failed to score a single goal for four consecutive rounds, they have finally scored and secured the victory in the last match. But when playing away from home, they only managed to take one point this season.

After they have experienced a minor crisis, San Lorenzo are back to their winning habits. In the last two rounds they took maximum six points and they are catching up with the teams in the front end of the league table. The head coach Juan Antonio Pizzi in today's encounter sees a perfect opportunity to get back on the top position on the table:

- We have an ideal opportunity ahead of us and I am more than willing to admit that we are favorites. We are playing at home and we want that third consecutive victory. I am also convinced that some of our main rivals will fail to win in todays fixtures. Securing a top spot at the table is not really a priority right now, but if the opportunity presents itself it would be foolish not to take it. Home matches are ideal for doing that - Pizzi said.

One of the biggest concerns for the home team coach will be the absence of his standard first-team forward Martin Cauterucci. For the match against Godoy, his replacement will probably be Gonzalo Veron or possibly even Hector Villalba who had scored against Rosario Central in the last round. Although San Lorenzo played well at Rosario, Pizzi is still sticking to his strategy which is based on frequent rotations in the first team squad. In today's encounter we should see Angelo Correa, Ignacio Piatti and Juan Mercier in the first team while Enzo Kalinski, Fernando Elizari and Alan Ruiz will be waiting for their chance on the bench.

Godoy Cruz failed to score a single goal in the last four rounds. They finally managed to score in last round against Colona. Jonathan Ramis scored the winning goal just six minutes before the end of the match.

Godoy is known for playing exceptionally well at home, and this season is no exception. When they were playing away from home, the team from Mendosa only managed to grab one point.

- Win against Colona has filled us with much-needed confidence and now our expectations are much higher. Our next match is against San Lorenzo, a team that has played pretty good recently. I honestly think they are one of the main contenders for winning the title this season. However, I still believe that we are more than capable for surprising them and securing a victory. It is about time for us to start winning some matches when playing away from home - Godoy midfielder Fefderico Lertora said about todays match.

Unlike Pizzi, Godoy's head coach Palermo is not a big fan of constant rotations in the first team, and he announced earlier that there won't be any changes in the starting lineup from last round. It is worth mentioning that Jorge Curbelo (at the beginning of the season his place in the first team was pretty secure) has recovered from injury but as he is still not 100% fit, David Achucarro will be in the starting lineup today.

Everything is clear here; in my opinion, San Lorenzo is a massive favourite against Godoy. The odds are very tempting, so I would opt for the home team to win. I find the odd of 2.00 for the host to win absurd. Realistically, it should be around 1.6, maybe even less. In any case, San Lorenzo found their good form, they are playing better every match, and they are starting to appear as one of the main title contenders. Pizzi will not give up on his policies of squad rotation, which didn't have an impact on their game yet since they have a very wide selection of quality players. The only minus of betting on the home team is the absence of the first attacker Martin Cauterucci, but in my opinion Gonzalo Veron can do a very good job as well.
Godoy are playing better under Martin Palermo, but they are still a typical home-based team. I often wrote about their long trips away from Mendoza, and that obviously impacts their results. Their attack is completely sterile and I believe they will mainly focus on defence today. Today they will face one of the deadliest attacking sides and a coach that favours attacking style of play.
Considering the odds, you should go for home team to win.
