Can Sonderjyske concede less than 30 to Skjern?

Both teams as of yet unbeaten, Skjern trounced Aarhus with +15 goals, Sonderjyske caught up after -5 and won in the last second. Both prefer a fast paced handball

With three victories and a draw form Holstebro who beat BSV in Silkeborg the other day Sonderskye got the most they could have expected from the season so far in the 4 rounds played .

- They were in the lead several times but we bounced back and won in the end. This speaks of high morale and of a good structure in the team. We have many new players and we are far from being a fully organized team. We are yet to fulfill our potential- The left wingman Andreas Toudahl said.

- We still have to play against a big time team, the Skjer game will be a completely different challenge to the ones we had up to now-

Toudahl is one of their reinforcements that came in the summer, and with Right backcourt Simon Kristiansen and the goalie Anders Petersen, one of the Danish national team trio newly arrived to the club. With several other new players , the Center  Claus Kjeldgaard, from  Kristianstad, Sweden who scored against GOG in the last minute for a narrow 27-26 victory. They were losing 20-15 by the middle of the second period but were two goals in the lead two minutes before the end. Gog tied the score only for Sonderjyske to win in the last 30 seconds of the game.

It is true they still have to face a top ranked team this season, but all they displayed, goes to prove they will be an important team this season. They played a match versus their todays opponents in the preparations and lost 30-27.

- I see Skjern in the finals. They look pretty sharp this season. They brought in some interesting reinforcements and are better than previous season in my opinion- coach Morten Henriksen said.

- Here we can win a lot, and there is not much we can lose. We beat them in a Cup match last year, with a little luck and the home court advantage we can repeat the feat. It will be interesting to see how we will do against Skjern, I’ve said before that our defensive play will improve in contrast to the last season, and now is the time to prove it-

In the GOG match the goalie Petersen had to stop playing due to pain in his back, and was substituted by Steffen Riisbøl, who kept the goal safe for the rest of the match. There were no announcements pertaining to Petersens injury.  Only player who is definitely out is Kasper Køser, a former Mors player.

Coach Henriksen led his team in the GOG match wisely, switching the defense from 6-0 to 5-1 in the right moment, confusing the opponents’ offensive play, and which resulted in several of their players injured. Again Anders Zachariassen the pivot played a great game (scored 6), and in four matches his aggregate score is 27 goals. The second pivot Gullerud and the right backcourt Kristiansen follow closely with 5 goals each.

Skjern appear terribly powerful in the season onset.  They are coming to Sonderborg with four victories so far, the last a +15 trouncing of Aarhus.  They scored 35 goals more than they conceded this season. The Aarhus match was great, with Møllgaard and Klitgaard(pivot) scoring 7 each and the right backcourt  Søndergaard 6.

There are no reported injuries, the team is well organized, have no Euro matches scheduled (they play the EHF on 12. October), and are fully concentrated on the league. They appear really good.

-I expect a great match with Sønderjyske, action packed for the full 60 minutes. I think the handball fans will be satisfied, the game will be fast paced and  thrilling - Ole Nørgaard announced.

- Sønderjyske are a good team, with a great home court and their season onset does not surprise me one bit. They tend to play fast games and this suits us perfectly. We are aware that we have not withstood real pressure up to now and we expect them to do that. But we have enough faith in ourselves to expect points from that game-
 
An additional motivation and warning to Skjern must be the facts that they lost the Cup match in Sonderborg 34-31 although they were at one point 12-5 in the lead.  Cup season starts early in Denmark,  and the defeat means that Skjern have already been eliminated after the quarter finals, and the final four is played in February.  Skjern lost to Aarhus in the Final four finals this year.

If the cup defeat and the preparation match are taken in to account Skjern scored over 30 every time in Sonderjyske .

They played three times last season, two times in the league and once in the cup. Skjern scored 33, 33 and 31 goals on those occasions. In the preliminary period they played once, and Skjern won that one with 30-27. This Skjern is stronger and faster than they were last season and I truly doubt that Sonderjyske can leave them under 30 goals. Both of them are fast teams, both coaches prefer fast handball, Skjern's coach said that he expect an attractive match and I think that that there can easily be more than 60 goals in total. Total over is another option, I'm betting on Skjern. Sonderjyske haven't conceded over 27 goals in the first four rounds, but they didn't play against the best teams either.
