Jindrichuv play extremely fast, with little responsibility in defense

Nova Hut Ostrava stacked 87 points with 38 % jump shots against Jindrichuv. The Padurbice team will open the match fully motivated after the defeat in Decin

In the first game, Jindrichuv Hradec confirmed they were the fastest playing basketball team in the league. They don't hesitate, they shoot very fast, but that strategy will hardly bring them a win over a team like Ostrava. Great shooting night is needed for a big defeat and Jindrichuv haven't had it.

Nova Hut are a team who concentrate a lot on the defense under the leadership of Dusan Medvecky. However, even that type of team managed to score 87 points for Jindrichuv with a modest 38 % jump shots, never under 20 in any quarter. The away team scored 76 jump shots and 30 free throws, which is a rarity. Maybe the final result doesn't suggest it, but extremely fast ball was played, basically two shots by each team per minute.

- I have to congratulate the opponent, they deserved to win. We were preparing for their play, shots for three points, and managed to block them. Unfortunately, we made individual errors in the defensive rebound and lost balls. 20 lost balls speak for themselves, one can't win with that. We struggled against Ostrava's fast play, especially pick-and-roll - stated assistant coach David Musil after the defeat.

Jindrichuv's game must be pleasant to watch, but that rhythm simply can't bring success. The team's offense potential decreased after several key players left last season and they're simply not good enough to score 100 points every other game. Judging by what we saw against Nova Hut and in pre-season matches, Jindrichuv can't defeat anyone if they don't score 90 points or more. Last season, Jindrichuv were the last team in the league and if they don't change something responsibility-wise, they can't hope for a better spot.

Today's game could uncover all weaknesses. The opponents are a team who belong to the closest circle of the favorites for the play-off finals against Nymburk. Together with Prostejov, they're probably the most likely to achieve it. The hosts have kept the entire previous season's line-up, reinforced with good players and wish to atone for dropping out in the quarter-finals last season. They didn't open this season well, which could be motivating for this game.

Even though the Padrubice team are better at the moment, Decin are always unpleasant. Their fans are among the fiercest in the league, they elevate their game. Padrubice didn't find a recipe for the hosts' aggressive defense, they were limited to only 67 points and the defeat was inevitable.

One of the reasons for that is definitely denying Muirhead, the best Padrubice player from the previous season. Except for him, coach Bohunicky couldn't count on Faifr. To make things worse, Carnecky and Landa got injured during the game.

Nelson played a good game (12 points), but spent only 11 minutes on the court due to violations (three in offense). Had Bohunicky been able to make more use of him, Padrubice would have surely been a more dangerous competition, because he was one of the rare players who was in the right frame of mind on Saturday night. Sanders wasn't in a good mood in the first game after coming to Padrubice (nine points, 2/10), but made a better impression with six stolen balls, five rebounds and three assists.

- Congratulations to Decin, they out-played us with their strong players under the net. They were more aggressive, which is exactly what we wanted to be, especially in the defensive and offensive rebound. The game was faster, but we didn't manage to answer and change our defense. The only time we posed a threat were the final moments of the game, when we elevated our defensive game - said Bohunicky after the match.

It was one of those nights when one should shake the opponent's hand. Padrubice were inferior for 30 minutes and they showed what they were capable of in the last stage. It wasn't enough to beat Dencin, but at least it was somewhat stimulating before the season continues.

Today's game will be a complete opposite to the one against Decin. Jindrichuv don't represent such pressure, it will be easier for Padrubice to reach the shooting positions and the offense efficiency should be a lot bigger. Bohunicky expects his players to react on the account of the defeat at the beginning of the season and they will have great support from the fans. Muirhead and Faifr are supposed to play, which is great for Padrubice, but Carnecky will be absent.

-They did full practice on Monday and should be ready for the game. Carnecky is our only absence -said Bohunicky and continued:

- We're going into the next game fully focused on our game only. In the pre-season, we focused on fixing the defensive stage and speeding up the transition into the forward part, which we lacked against Decin. It will be positive if we improve our defensive game and get more chances for winning easy points in the transition stage. We can and must confirm the role of the favorites on our home court.

Padrubice are among the strongest teams in the paint, they have numerous great solutions, and Jindrichuv lost a lot in that part with Tomanec's leave. The away team can go through only with a crazy good shooting night, because it's difficult to expect Forejt will change their game style and philosophy in only a couple of days. Facing the season (take a look at the competition preview), he discussed Jindrichuv's game style and we can expect run 'n' gun basketball here as well. Nova Hut scored 87 points with a modest shot in the away game, the question is at which number will Padrubice stop when introducing themselves to the home fans...

In the end, we should add that Jindrichuv play without Marcus Smallwood today, one of the better individual players against Ostrava.

What Jindrichuv showed against Nova Hut is rarely seen. A very fast play which resulted with 143 combined shots in play with 40 free throws. Jindrichuv have no responsibilities in play, they showed that in the preseason too (last six matches with over 90 conceded points). Last year in the relegation group they conceded 89 points or more in all 12 matches, often over 100. And the stakes couldn't have been higher. Forejt prefers a style which is nice to watch and he will not give it up. Pardubice will start today with maximum motivation to redeem for the loss against Decin. The home team have Muirhead at their disposal, a lot of solutions in the paint and the centers should catch a lot of missed shots and put them in through second attacks. Bohunicky wants to score as many as possible easy points over a quick transition and it all points to seeing a similar story like between Jindrichuv and Ostrava. If Nova Hut had an average shot percentage they would go over 100 points. I believe Pardubice will succeed in that, a team over is an even better option but because of lower availability I decided for this option. Jindrichuv can score 65-70 points with their style, especially considering that the match needs to be ended relatively quickly which will cause a certain amount of relaxing among the host ranks.
