Munster in great problems ahead of the match in Dresden

Injury-hit Munster could be left to fight against the top table team with only 7 players. Dresden are currently the heavy favorite and as much as a set would be a great success for Munster in this away match

Top table Munster have the chance to getting further ahead of the competition as they meet Munster in the postponed round 15 match. A win would see them get 6 points ahead of Schwerin and much closer to securing the top spot for the playoffs. Dresden have not lost a single Budesliga game so far and won three points away against Kopernicker easily Saturday. 

- It was a match in which we had to stay focused the whole time. We managed to and I congratulate my team on it - coach Waibl said after the win in Berlin on Saturday.


His players will want a new win today and he won't be able to count on Schwabe, Ferrari, and Kuhn as per usual. Middle blocker Pencova is questionable since he missed the away game with Kopenicker with an injury. - We're in a tough situation, the team did they best they could given the situation. We were equally good in the third set and that makes me respect these girls. We struggle with injuries and there's nothing that can be done about it. This is the situation we have to deal with - coach Buring said after the defeat to Schwerin. 


Not much has changed for the better since Saturday. Benson's injury from Saturday will keep her off the court for a while. Schaefer and Ossowski were injured from before, Petrausch missed the Schwerin match with a flu and has not been practicing this week. She remains questionable. Munster could have strange tactics once again today since the coach has only 7-8 players at his disposal. A few from team B could join.


- Dresden in volleyball are like Bayern in football. They have two players at each position and that allows them to make substitutions if one of the players is having a bad day - coach Buring said.

The situation is such that it's worth to go through with Dresden's clear win. Tired Munster are going to face the leaders of the champions in an away match, and so far they haven't been defeated. The question is only whether they will have seven or eight players available. They were in a similar situation on Saturday when they lost three sets to Schwerin. I expect Dresden to be prepared for today's game which will possibly have two setters in it. This is a first home match for Dresden after they've earned the knock-out phase of the Champions League. The fans will come to greet them, and the players will return the favor with a win. They have enough quality and the width to cover this in three sets. In the last home match Dresden beat Aachen in three sets, and mutilated Munster can't even be compared to them. Numerous injuries are the fruit of a hard rhythm Munster have been playing in for the last two weeks. They played six matches, but it's not something they're used to. They will be tired, and without real substitutions. Winning a set in Dresden will be quite a surprise for me.
