I think Turkey are far overrated here. I expected that the bookmaker would change the odds a bit since yesterday but that didn't happen. That means Croatia are underrated here. These are the kind of matches they love to play - they are not the favorites, which means anything can happen. The best example of that id their match against Russia at EC recently, which they won in straight sets. The WC matches against Japan and Germany are similar to that one as well. Croatia can lose by up to 17 total points and this bet will still be successful. I expected the handicap at 12,5.
Croatia lost to Italy at EC by 12 points in straight sets. Turkey are very close to that Italy but I expect Croatia to do much better here than at Euro. They have a new coach and that should chance some things.
jerkov is on the team. Croatia played their best tournament with her and Topic as receivers two years ago. They crashed out to Germany in straight sets back then, losing by 11 points in total. That match is similar to this one. Germany were the home team back then, just like Turkey are now.
Croatia are much more mature now than they were 2,5 years ago. Jerkov and Poljak will do their absolute best, knowing what they can get here. Croatia always did well against Turkey. They played a friendly a week ago.
I don't think Croatia will get trashed here since the info I'm getting from Ankara says they are in high spirits. Turkey will have the fans and some questionable calls but they won't have it easy. They beat Germany in fifth set in EC QFs but went on to lose the next two games in straight sets. There are still quite a few things they have to work on, judging by test matches. The coach isn't quite sure how to play just yet. Turkey will struggle today, the handicap is set 5-6 points too high, the odds are set as if Croatia are playing Brazil or the US away. That is why I'm going with higher stake than I normally do.
