As was expected, the odds on Germany are a bit higher after their minimal win against Austria, but that match should be forgotten due to external factors that had a major effect on the scoreline. Despite not being impressive, Germany dominated for the entire 60 minutes. Sweden almost didn't win against Slovenia, but there's no doubt Baur's team is as powerful, if not even more powerful than they are. Just like last year, it seems Zanotti cannot match the best teams when they block Konradsson. Slovakia and Hungary have played two 48-goal matches during preparations and I definitely don't expect them to have 5 goals more today. They're both focused on defense and they don't play a fast game. Hungary rely on their defense and their keeper keeps things slow unless there's an absolutely clear chance for a counter, while Slovakia slow things down as they have no possibility for rotations. In the last match of the first part of this competition, they barely got over this margin against Belarus who played a really fast game, while one cannot expect Hungary to rush things; a more realistic state of things is them getting a 3-4 goal lead and slowing the game down. Israel almost went over this margin against Hungary and both teams missed over 10 sitters in that game. In addition, the Hungarians didn't play too fast until the last 15 minutes, but Belarus are expected to play like that. They have been playing in this rhythm from the start of the competition, their back court is pushing good counters and semi-counters and Israel will struggle to find an answer for them. This margin is probably done because of the last WC result, when the Germans celebrated by 6 goals difference, but then their goalies had about 30%, under average, the right wing Blohme shot a few sure hits, and today, there's a much better Kastening, and that can hardly be done again. That's only a small part of German advantages before today's match, to count them all is almost impossible. Of course, it's clear that the Germans are better on each position individually than their neighbors, and what seems to be the key today is that Baur's team play a good defense, while the Austrians had lots of problems in that segment so far. As usual, the Slovenians play fast, create great counter attacks through Ovnicek, and pretty simply create situations where they can score. On the other hand, their defense isn't that great. True, they conceded 21 against Hungary, but the Hungarians played poorly, struggling against a mobile opponent. Today, they have Sweden on the other side, lead by the lower back line Olsson - Konradsson - Zetterman, who definitely like faster games and will accept it. Compared to the last year WC, their defense are suffering because of the first goalie Kraft and pivot Rhodin's absences. Also, we should mention that the Slovenians have a much better back shot compared to the WC, so it's hard to see a scenario where this match would end under 55 goals. If someone is cautious about under because of the importance of this match, a good option is a counter handicap for Slovenia with the same stake. Details

Israel played a 60-goal match against Sweden and Zanotti asked his team to calm the tempo down as much as possible 5 minutes before the end. This is perhaps the best thing that can happen for them - this is an ideal zone for fast back court that Slovenia has. In accordance with that, I wouldn't be surprised if Israel concede over 40 goals, as was the case in the qualifications, and in that case, this over should not come into question. Even without them, they were close to reaching the WC semifinals and Hungary was miles away from this feat, so I don't think it's realistic to expect a tight game here. Another plus for Slovenia is that they can send Gjerek to his natural middle-back position, and Lapajne can shift to left, which gives them plenty of options for rotations. The only thing Slovenia are afraid of is the toughness of Hungarian players but if they were able to match Iran's senior team (and those types of teams play a really hard and dirty game), I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to do so today. In fact, I think Hungary should be afraid of Slovenia's agility as they have shown they are pretty slow which often results in a lot of sending-offs. Considering how easily Slovenia create excellent chances with extra man, this could be another segment of their game that could help them get a convincing win. Details

It's well known that coach Đukić's teams play a fast-paced game, but this Israeli squad has been so fast that they even surprised the Danes who play a pretty fast game. But , wethe Danes play a good defense, that's not the case with Israel so they conceded 34 and 40 goals against them, and 41 and 46 against Germany. They only team that scoredunder 30 was Slovakia (29) but they conceded 36 the next day. Apart from Germany and Denmark, the attack that Sweden have is one possibly the best here and them conceding close to 40 goals again is a very likely scenario. On the other hand, the Israeili attack was solid and they scored 27 and 23 goals against Germany, 25 against Denmark, 23 and 38 against Slovakia. The only match they flopped was against Denmark when they were stopped at 17 goals but the Danes had an ax to grind that day as they were unhappy with their performance the previous day. The Swedes don't have anything to prove against Israel and I honestly don't think they could crush them in defense if they wanted. Their defense is not compact, and some crucial players are missing. They conceded 29, 29, 38 and 32 goals in friendlies and it's interesting to not that their coach Karlsson has never commented their poor defense. This is nothing strange for him as he prefers fast-paced games and his team will probably accept Israel's run'n'gun game as this suits his team. Details

These two teams played a match with 47 goals in the last year's EC, but in completely different circumstances. Winning meant staying in the battle for the semifinals, while today, they're only playing for the "consolation" prize. In that match in Denmark, best players in both teams were the goalies: Serban for the Romanians, Gabriel for the French. Gabriel is about just as good as she was then, but Serban is significantly worse, and her colleagues aren't much better. Besides, it's impossible to expect the French best wing player Prouvensier leave without scoring a goal this time like she did last year. Compared to that match, and that championship in general, France changed their game style quite a lot. Baradat wants French players to run much more, so it's impressive to hear they had 95 counter attacks till now. They had 15 in the last match against Netherlands, and the match ended with 56 goals, even though the Dutch team seemed tired and slowed the match down, at least as much as the French allowed. Before that period, they scored 40 goals in 38 minutes, and if not for that crisis, the match would probably end with 60+, like the French match against the Dutch if the opponents didn't slow things down. According to what has been shown in this championship so far, neither France nor Romania should be slowing things down today. Accordingly, today's match margin is pretty low, especially because France change their tactics as the championship progresses, and rely more and more on the fast center. They went over this margin (52) even against the Brazilians, who play fairly slow, in a match of the more competitive character, while they were even more convincing against Denmark and finished the match with 62 goals. They'll face Netherlands who had a few good defense shows, but when they needed it most. 32 goals against Angola, whom they underestimated a bit, clearly show that they aren't the toughest when they're not motivated, and we definitely won't see them fully motivated today. Kazakhstand have brought twice as many players here, some of whom are stronger than those on last WC, and they shouldn't struggle in final stages. Kazakhstan's motivation is undoubted as they don't want to end as the last-placed team while Congo seem more worried about the state in their country than on the court. Tunis beat them by +7 even after resting a few players, and some Congolese players fought with each other on the court and didn't want to play. Mpoua even gave up in the second half and let his younger colleague lead the team. Congo's problems are apparent Kazakhstan are stronger than before and I think they have a good chance to get back home with at least one win. Details

Uruguay had several low-scoring games in last WC but once they reached the matches to decide the individual spots, they played a 60-goal game against defensively minded Portugal and a 58-goal match against slow Congo. Their first playoff match here saw 52 goals but against Argentina and in a very fierce battle. However, despite the fiery combat to dominate their continental rivals, margin was almost broken anyway. Their opponents now are Japan, a team with a deep 3-3 defense, much like Uruguay. Whatever teams to do adapt, the fact is that a potential save will mean a counter, as Uruguay have shown two years ago when they played a 83-goal match with Korea (46-37 defeat). Since this is the final of the President's Cup, I expect both teams to do their best and not slow things down (which seems impossible with their system anyway) and 60-something goals should come as no surprise in that case. We should not forget that Uruguay's keeper sustained a neck injury in the last game and her form (if she even plays) should be doubtful at best. Details

Congo are a much younger team, compared to others. Their opponent Tunisia displayed a lot more at this tournament, it's high time they recorded a win. It almost happened against China, but this is a much better chance. Since three of their players went missing, Congo are making a lot of technical mistakes, and Tunisian transition is good enough to be able to take advantage of that. Also, we have to bear in mind the fact Tunisia played their group stage matches here and know the arena well, while this is the first game for Congo here. Details

Slovenia struggled and in the end lost the game against Brazil, despite basically securing the win, while the Hungarian coach had the privilege to rest his key players against the even better France. Hungary were seven goals up by half time, which should be expect today as well. This is round of 16, there's no room for error here and Hungarians will definitely not hold back. And that should be too much for Slovenia. True, they did lost to Hungary by three goals at the last EC, but they managed to score 28 goals, which is 12 goals more than Hungary concede on average here. Slovenia could count on Zulic and Turnsek back then, and right back Mrmolja did well. She is now the only shooter on the Slovenian team, and it didn't take Brazil long to realize that. Hungary have a defense much better than Brazil, and they should be able to deal with Slovenia. Slovenian players are clearly tired, which should result in a few counter attacks more for Hungary, and in turn, a convincing win, just like the one against France. Details

A very ¨high margin on Japan, probably a result of their 35-24 win at the Asian Championship last season. However, the bookies have probably forgotten that Japan were only up by 1 point at half time and that they are here without their first-choice right-back and first pivot. They have almost no rotations, their first 7 plays for most of the game and fatigue is apparent. Japan drop in the last 10 minutes of almost every game and it's very hard to beat someone in those cases, especially by a double-digit margin. Japan barely got a win by 3 goals against Congo and it seems unreal that they could beat China, who are on a similar level, by a three times higher margin. In addition, China are definitely better used to their style than the African and European teams and that should make this game much tighter. Details

Both teams participated in the three last big competitions, and their head to head matches ended at 58, 52, 64 goals (in chronological order). In the one with 52 goals scored, the Romanian goal keeper Serban played the game of a lifetime. These teams also played two preparation period matches ahead of this WC, and they both ended at 59 points scored. In the championship, the teams proved to have a very clear way of gaining possession - a high pace game, and a fast creation of the simplest situation for scoring. Even with a pretty bad game, Russia managed to score 35 and 32 points against Brasil and China, and then 43 to Tunisia, and 36 to Slovenia. Romania scored 36 against Tunisia, and 26 to Brasil, with only one successful counter attack. That was followed by a lot of criticism so they scored 30 against Slovenia after only 10 in the first half. China and 39 goals scored followed. On the whole, both teams did better in offense than in defense, and both have the capacity to score more than 30 goals. The margin should not be a problem like that. Details

I don't see a way for any match Japan play to stay under 50 goals. The reason for that lies in their wild 3-3 defense that ends in either their opponents getting a clear shot from 6 meters or with a technical error and a counter for Japan. The Asian team have played games with 56, 55 and 62 goals s o far, and even saw 57 goals against ultra-slow Congo, so I don't see a way for this to end with 5-6 goals less. In fact, the winner will go into the Round of 16 and the defeated team will be eliminated so I expect Japan to get whatever strength they have left to play even more aggressive than before. Sweden have stayed well below this margin in 3 out of 4 matches, but those were slow games against 6-0 defenses. But even one game similar to this one (France) saw only 51 goals, even though the keepers had a bad day. Today, the keepers shouldn't play a major role as you simply can't play a slow game against Japan and this match seems an ideal choice for an over. Details
