Raonic reached the Wimbledon semifinals and these are not his conditions. Until then, he struggled with his movement on grass. His confidence has been incredible since Ljubičić started training him and I believe him when he says that his best performances are yet to come. Hard court is his surface and that's where he feels the most comfortable. He's prepared well for these tournaments and I believe he will go into his first match strongly. Everything is easier when you have a projectile in your hand. He played against Sock at Wimbledon and he won all three sets without extending them. The situation was the same in their first match last year, at hard court in Miami. Sock was left without a break chance once again. Raonic has won last 7 consecutive sets against him and he'll just continue his run. Raonic is not Isner, with whom Sock often trains. He doesn't have any confidence like when he's playing against his compatriot, he has a hard time reading Miloš's serve and Raonic should win in two sets. Details

Isner conquered Atlanta last year and last week and he's defending the finals here. Of course he got the wins in his manner. He played 4 matches en route to the final last year and all 4 went over the margin, while the first set regularly went into tie-break. I often mention that Isner is the most vulnerable at the start of the tournament. That's how Ginepri almost beat him last week and reached the third set, and I don't see why Johnson couldn't do the same. He played two extended sets against Querrey last week, and he had over 2 aces per service games here .I expect fast games and that suits bets like this. A good option is +1.5 games in first set on Johnson. Details

Tiafoe had a lot of lucky circumstances to get into the main tournament. He wasn't even planned to get an invite for the qualifiers, and we've seen all sorts of players there. He won one mini tournament and secured the invite for the qualifiers with that. Since Monfils cancelled his performance in the last moment, a place in the main lot opened, and the organizers decided to give him a chance. He's a 16 year old player training and living in Washington. Donskoy isn't in an ideal form, but he's a proven name. I don't know when he'll play against a kid in the first round of the Series 500 again. I believe he can leave the junior on a few games with a right approach. Of course, I'll be happy with this handicap passing, too. Hats off to the young American, but he's a boy. That difference has to be felt on the court on this level. Details

Thiem lost his rhythm shortly because of the grass season. That's why he started yesterday's match a bit insecure. After checking out the strengths, he sped up and crushed Vesely who had 17 wins on clay this season. He played aggressive, firm, and effective, and Granollers could be an ideal lot. The Spaniard loves to play defensively on return and force the opponent's backhand. Here, that tactic would be all wrong. Besides, Granollers hasn't got enough matches in his feet. This is his first clay match after Roland Garros, and he only had three grass matches since. They already faced each other in Barcelona this season, and Thiem covered this handicap. If he did that on the Spaniard's court, he can do it here, especially after his self-confidence was boosted in the first round. Details

Carreno and Brown played in Bastad last week. The conditions were slower, it was windy, and that suited Brown less. The German lost in two sets in the end, but he could have won in two sets. He missed all nine break balls, and the Spaniard used two of three. It was an unlucky defeat because Brown even had better service than his opponent. Then, Carreno's win was at 1.5, now it's at 1.3. I don't see why. Brown is playing at home, in the main time slot and in better conditions than those in Sweden. He threatened all the time, created lots of chances, and it will only help him today. I believe he can win, too, but I take the set because I definitely didn't expect the odds to be this high. Details

I probably saw seven-eight Lopez's match in the last month. It's a joy looking at him on the grass. A left-hand service with so many options and the boring backhand work great together on the grass. Add to that a good going towards the net, it's brilliant. Lopez looked tired on Wimbledon already. He said he had to bear through it and then he'll rest. I didn't expect him here. Last year, he skipped this week, as expected after the great grass tour. He probably came because he knew he'll be the seed, but I expect a problematic transition. I've seen a few players this week who had problems with clay after the grass, and they had far fewer matches than Lopez. Gimeno is in a completely different situation. He got married, and came here. He knows very well he can get a result only on clay, and the Top 100 status is hanging. Even he had problems playing in the rainy Stuttgart. I remember when Lopez easily lost to Struff in Munchen recently, and complained about the tough conditions. I expect him to have problems today, as well, and I expect Gimeno to be focused on playing on his favorite type of court where he can keep the rallies for days. Considering all that, the best option is definitely a win of 2-0 in sets. Details

In the first round, Delbonis did exactly what I expected. He fought for every point and broke Monaco down, and he's an experienced dirtballer. Becker is experienced, but he's not too good on this surface. He beat Paire but only after the Frenchman imploded. He didn't tank the match but he didn't seem too motivated to stay in rainy Germany. After all, he's the player who said Wimbledon isn't any good. Back to Becker - that was his second ATP win on clay in last 4 years. Logically, he didn't have too many matches on it. The Argentine has everything - the power in his strokes, the serve and he relies on his results on clay. I believe he timed his form for these weeks as he's defending the final next week. He should handle Becker in two sets without too much trouble. Details

When Kohlschreiber is happy with his performance, so am I. Confidence is crucial for him as he wants to be a Top 20 player, at the very least. What has marked his performances lately are good matches in home tournaments. He is defending the final here, he won at Dusseldorf and missed a huge chance to reach the finals in Halle. Struff is in a crisis, he expected a lot from grass season and played very poorly, especially on return. In three defeats, he got only 1 break. I expect Philipp to be in a good mood and I think he should also have the advantage in terms of his experience. They're on completely different levels at the moment and I see a convincing win for Kohlschreiber here. Details

Lindell won the first match in his career yesterday. Just what a surprise that was is reflected in the fact that the Swede hasn't won at the challenger in the past two seasons. Cuevas handled Chardy, losing 4 games in the process. He's on the verge of getting back to Top 100 and he's been dominant at the challenger level this season. Looking at his 19-4 at the challenger level, one can see that he beat much stronger players than the Swede, who belongs to the futures. We have a special situation here as Cuevas is ATP level material but had to use challengers to regain his form and ranking. On the other hand, Lindell is a futures player without success at the challenger level in recent season but he reached Round 2 of an ATP tournament. A huge difference in quality that the Uruguayan player should show today. Details

Lindell used to be a rising stay. He reached Top 300 at the age of 19 but he then suffered a major drop in form and had to fight his way back through the futures. He won two futures this season but both were in his home country and against weak opponents. He got a wild card for this tournament, which isn't always productive. Cervantes passed the qualifications and he beat Ghem in the last round. He could have been more convicning as he had 14 break chances but he only lost his serve once in three sets. The Brazilian is definitely a more difficult opponent than the Brazilian. The Spaniard is definitely playing better than his ranking shows. A month ago, he reached Furth finals, beat Rola and Martin, players who would eat Lindell alive. This year, he has won two ATP matches in Barcelona. In any case, he seems like a player who knows how to take his chance and that's what the Swedish player is. Details

Menendez is no typical Spaniard, which means that clay is not his favorite surface. He does best on hard courts where he has had 30 wins in last 2 seasons. This year he has a positive score on all surfaces and he confirmed his good form by reaching the third round of Wimbledon qualifiers where he was stopped by Muller. Last year, he reached the semifinals here and then repeated this on the following two hard court challengers. Gerasimov has played only 1 futures in the past month and he lost against a player with a much worse ranking (Struvay). He's young and has barely broken into Top 250. Last year, he was eliminated in the first round as the lucky loser. He has had only 6 challenger wins on hard court in his career and those were all from weaker tournaments, like in Uzbekistan a month ago. He beat Barrientos in the quarterfinals there, and he's not even in Top 300. Menendez is expected to reach Top 150, he got a good result here and he does best on hard court. The Belarus has not yet made full transition onto this level and the Spaniard should show the difference in quality. Details

The odds suggest that Monaco can match Delbonis, but this is more a case of reputation and respect. At one point, Monaco hadn't won a match for 6 months. He started winning sporadically but he got 2 consecutive wins on only 1 occasion this year. Once a Top 10 player, now on the verge of dropping out of Top 100. These are the tournaments on which Delbonis has earned his Top 40 status. Out of 15 wins this season, 14 came from clay tournaments of 250 Series. He has won a title and was in the finals of Nice less than two months ago. This tournament has faster conditions and that will suit him better. Monaco has another problem apart from his crisis. He hasn't played since Roland Garros due to injury and now he's facing a pure clay court specialist who plies his trade on tournaments like this. We can talk about Monaco's reputation all we want, but it's no good when he's collected 8 wins this season. I believe Delbonis has prepared well as he's defending the Hamburg finals next week and he's definitely shown much more than his compatriot who has yet to prove that his career is not over. Considering the fact he's on the verge of dropping out of Top 100, that might even happen. The odds on Delbonis should definitely be lower taking everything into consideration. Details

Even though Mannarino lost sets in the first rounds here, I can't hold it against him. He's not a routine player, and his opponents were weak. We could say he just worked those matches because he celebrated in both of them even after losing a set. As the tournament is coming to an end, his focus is definitely growing. He caught the rhythm and showed it against Londer yesterday. He realized all four break balls, and didn't give any to the opponent. Buchanan is making a progress, but he can't be compared to Mannarino who has 9 ATP wins this season, and plenty of experience. Just for comparison sake, a month and a half ago, Kudraytsev was set as a favorite with smaller odds, and he's out of the top 150. The American didn't play against a player ranked so high this season, and I think Mannarino will prove the difference in the class. He didn't come here to have a good time, he's saving his Top 100 status, he doesn't lack motive, and then we're talking about two different worlds. Details

Arguello reached the semifinals here last year and he has 4-1 against Andreozzi in H2H. Last time they played was three month ago and he allowed him to take only 3 games. All 4 wins were in 2 sets. Even though both of them are clay players, he has stronger strokes and serve. HE came here after 2 quarterfinals in a row in Europe, while Andreozzi had 5 defeats in a row. In addition, Andreozzi has lost last 5 quarterfinals. I didn't expect him to be over @1.4. Details

Kyrgios is the biggest sensation of this tournament, no doubt about that. The young Australian has delighted everyone with his focus and mental fortitude. He eliminated Nadal who had previously dropped out of Wimbledon against Rosol and Darcis, so it's not a case of a shock defeat but a proof that passive approach is punished on grass. Kyrgios was the hunter and the attacker against Gasquet and Nadal but he's now facing a completely different story. The Canadian has lost his serve only once in four matches and it was against Nishikori, whose counter-attacking game doesn't suit him. He passed that barrier and he's been building his career step by step for the last two years. The Australian is a sensation and it's no accident he got into Top 100 as a 19-year-old but you can fight fire with fire. Raonic will not allow him to get into his rhythm, he won't give him too many chances on the return and he attacks shorter balls. He's at his peak and he's ready for a Grand Slam title as he's been showing the entire season. Kyrgios got the biggest win of his career yesterday and got into history books, but he's now facing a gunfight against Raonic, who's certainly aware of the chance he's been given. He has recently beaten the Australian on Roland Garros, he knows what to focus on and the Australian knows Raonic's serve will move him from left to right all the time. I personally went for 3-0 in set with a stronger stake, but this option certainly has a value, in case the Australian gets a set in one of his surges. Details

When comparing what Goran Ivanišević brought into Marin's game, everyone mentions last two matches between Novak and Marin. Apart from good serve, he gave him aggressive approach. Čilić started both matches very offensively, borderline unreasonably but Ivanišević persuaded him that was the only way. Marin got the first break in both of those matches and Novak started off very conservatively. He's clear he has no need to outplay his opponent as he has the consistency, quality, and better overall options. One can expect Marin to go for all or nothing once again as he functions great as a starter. For comparison's sake, Murray has beaten Čilić in 9 out of 11 matches but Čilić took the first set 6 times and started the matches off better. That was the case in his last two matches against Đoković, which makes this a very good option. Details

When someone saves nine match-points at a Grand Slam against a recent Top 10 player, than confidence is not an issue. Kyrgios might only be getting some recognition now, but he is a player that experts two years ago projected will be everything that was once expected from Tomic. He scored 26 aces against Vesely and allowed only one break-point. He reacted in an excellent way after beating Gasquet, and this 19-year-old will enter the Top 100 next week. Nadal lost all three first sets here, even against Kukushkin, who won only three games in the next three sets. The Australian has the balls, a great serve, and aggressive tennis. I expect Nadal will once again take some time to get into his rhythm, and I doubt Kyrgios will be impressed.
I remember him playing the Davis Cup against France, away, and taking Monfils and Gasquet to the tie-break in the first set. If the Australian does not decide to return, as Rosol did, he will probably have the first serve, and I believe he can parry at first. With time he will increasingly struggle, as everyone does once Nadal gets up to steam. Details

Even though Collarini rarely plays on hard court, this is his third year in a row here. He's defending the quarterfinals and he reached the second round the year before that. He's reached Top 200 and is a regular challenger player. Turini has had only 1 challenger match since early March. He played at the futures, but that's a different level. Suffice to say he has two challenger wins on hard court. The Argentine is a challenger player, unlike the Brazilian, he's a regular player here and I expect him to win in two sets. In addition, Turini has 0-5 at the challenger level against left-handed players like Collarini. Details

It might seem at first that these odds don't have any value, but the margin for the whole match has been set to 47.5 games. Lopez has had a fresh start on grass and was given two days of rest, which he desperately needed. Even though they played a completely different game, both Isner and Lopez get their serve games very easily. The American passed the first two rounds without losing his serve while the American lost his serve once but also had 3 tie-breaks in that match. Lopez makes good use of his left-hand serve, slice and rushes to the net while Isner uses his power and angles. Both have a convincing serve and an unconvincing return. One can expect a tie-break in almost every set, but the best choice is the first set as the players are not in good rhythm then. Both know what lies ahead and that's why they'll be even more focused on their serve, even though that's their primary focus in easier matches as well. Details

Rola was set at +9.5 but has just entered Top 100 and has no experience on grass or in big matches. Bautista is practically Top 20, he has 30 ATP wins this season, a title on grass last week and huge wins. The handicap is just two games lower. As much as the market overestimated Rola in the last match, they underestimated the Spaniard now. The fact that Murray crushed Rola has no influence on this match. Bautista loves this surface, loves big matches and is not afraid of his opponents. He scored winners against Del Potro left, right and center as the Argentine watched dazed and confused. I played a handicap on Nadal in Madrid. Rafa could have won by 3-4 games more but Bautista save a lot of break chances because he was not afraid. The Scotsman is facing a much more difficult challenge, an opponent that can catch many things and attack. Most of all, he will not give up and that's why I'll take this handicap. He has 7-0 on grass and will be a tough nut to crack, just like for anyone on the Tour for that mattter Details
