    A margin way too high in my opinion, probably influenced by the 200 point game played in Novgorod a few weeks ago. However, a game with such shooting percentages is unlikely to occur again, moreover, that will serve as an extra warning for Ivković and I feel it's much more likely that we'll se a match like the first two in the regular period of the league, which ended at 142 and 126 points. This is above all one of the key matches in the battle for the quarterfinal, Efes are in a very dangerous position and a defeat would put them very far behind the best eight. A defeat would practically mean goodbye to all hopes for Nizhny, as they have yet to face CSKA and Unicaja at home plus play an away game at Piraeus, meaning it would be unrealistic to expect them to win all three. Ivković said it all saying that his primary goal is to improve defense, an ailing segment in their past few games, and they will focus fully on that here. They can win only if they play proper, disciplined defense, as confirmed by the home match against Kutxa three weeks ago, which was also the only of their ten home games in European competition that went above this margin. Nizhny has slightly higher numbers, ranging close to this margin, but Rochestie pointed out this will be a close and physical match.     This season is a complete miss for Minsk; things immediately went sour and it's pretty clear that they will end at the very back of the table. Their motivation is pretty unclear; they want to finish the competition with at least one win, but I doubt they will try too hard in the defense. Their latest matches only confirmed that. At home, Minks conceded 91 and 119 against Jenisej and Avtodor, and I doubt they will leave Oktjabr at 80 or less. There's a big difference in quality and motivation. Oktjabr have to win if they want to reach the playoffs, and they have four to five Americans in their lines who are capable of scoring 15 to 20 points. I think Minsk's players will have a hard time blocking them; they concede over 90 points on average in home games, and in the last nine they left only Samara and UNICS (exactly 84) below this margin. The situation in which they are allows for a more attractive basketball on their side, but I doubt they will try to set such a pace today, which Oktjabr with Culpepper and company can definitely pair up to, offensively.     This margin is set a few points too high, even with ideal lineups and if you don't know anything about the current situation on the teams. The margin was set at 141-142 points when Panathinaikos played in Thessaloniki and Olympiacos are better in defense while Panathinaikos play a faster-paced game. Those games ended at 125 and 139 points. Oly are without their top player Spanoulis here. They cannot make up for him. He's the driving force on their offensive end. The game against Fener only confirmed that when he's not his best or when the opponents manage to stop him, Olympiacos struggle with efficiency greatly. Oly normally rely on defense more away from home, they finished under this margin in all tougher away games in Greece and defense should be even better today. PAOK's coach Markopolos wants total focus, slowing down the pace and reducing the technical mistakes to a minimum. I expect a heated atmosphere and a fight for each point. The first h2h, which was settled early in the second part, finished at only 135. I expect the game today to be much closer and each team finishing with 60-70 points. Details

    Zenit come to Moscow weakened, without a few very important players, and I think they don't stand a chance. The coaching team's decision to leave Hodge and Kulagin in St. Petersburg, even though their injuries aren't that bad, so they could practice individually, shows a lot, and I think it means they give up on any hopes here. Zenit will play with ten players, without an important quarter who score 45. They went to Moscow with some young players, and I don't think that's enough to face what CSKA have to offer. A few days ago, they were crushed by Khimki despite Kulagin and Hodge playing, it could have been a difference of 25-30 points. True, CSKA played against Efes on Friday, and their possible fatigue is the only reason for a smaller stake here. Still, nobody played over 30 minutes in that match, only Voroncevič and Teodosić over 25. The Muscovites have width, and can easily assemble two equally good starting five teams. So, I don't think they'll have problem winning this. In the home matches of the VTB league this season, they didn't cover this margin only twice, against Jenisej when they were 22 points ahead a minute before the alarm, and it ended by 13, and against Lokomotiv when they lost. However, Zenit are much more to their taste, they crushed them in St. Petersburg, without Teodosić and Hrjapa, and Zenit had a much stronger lineup then. Details

    Statistically speaking, the margin's been set good, but the circumstances are such that I'm not expecting an efficient match. Nymburk are starting to feel fatigue, they've been playing in NBA rhythm since the start of the season and in the last nine matches in all competitions only twice did they go over that margin. Once on 157 and once at 158 points. They can't score a lot of points even against weaker teams of the VTB league. I think they will have a lot of problems with realization. A few days ago they played a match at 124 points against Decin in regular part; their defense is far from good. Besides, in today's match they will probably be without two of the most important offense players, which will additionally weaken their offense. On the other hand, coach Kalev's statement that he wasn't pleased with the defense after they've beaten Bisons and although they conceded 79 points in overtime, speaks a lot.     This year Bisons beat Lokomotiv on home court, and played tight with UNICS and Himki. The results are very respectable, but the circumstances are now different. In all matches they had their first playmaker Johnson with whom the team are a lot better. Except for that, today they should also be without their important Nuutinen, and Hummer is also questionable. He's returning after an injury and who knows how will he feel if he plays. His absence will be a huge handicap. Besides, the Bisons played seven matches in the last 15 days. This will be number eight. They're playing with seven to eight players and its noticeable that they're lacking strength. They're losing more often in the Finnish championship, they're struggling with weaker teams, and a few days ago they suffered a defeat by Kataja in front of home fans, even though they had 20 offense rebounds in that match. Nizhny raised their shape in the last couple of days, they're in a 2-game winning run and their confidence is a bit better. Kinsey's absence is not as felt, bringing Mekle was a huge plus and him and Rochestie are working out on the court. Thompkins and Parahouski should hold the back court, and Nizhny also has a wider rotation and quality. These are matches in which Nizhny reached this placement in the league this season, with the exception of the Estonia failure when fatigue did its job. They lost only from stronger teams, and all wins were with at least five points of difference. This is a very important match; UNICS and Lokomotiv surprisingly lost yesterday. Zenit will almost surely fail in Moscow and this is an excellent chance for Nithny to return to the extremely important third place which brings the home court advantage in the quarter-finals and they'll probably evade CSKA until the very finals. I expect they will use the hosts' problems and reach a double-digit win. Details

    Out of all teams in the first league, Apollon's numbers and style are in the biggest disproportion. It's not realistic for this team to score under 70 per game, considering their fast game, lots of shots from the field, and the most three-pointer attempts in the league. Still, the Greek league is full of defensively oriented teams, and those matches mean lower averages. That's not the case today. Relying on backcourt shot often costs them, but this team have quality for sure, and I think they're better than Trikala. Apollon could show offensive progress today, since Trikala are pretty humble defensively, and force a fast game at home. Their game against Olympiacos ended at 190, Panathinaikos at almost 170. Almost all the teams scored over 80 on Trikala's court. Trikala conceded under this margin only once in the last 13, against Panionios who have problems of their own. Forcing fast game could end up with 65-70 shots from the field, which should suit Apollon, and pass this margin even with lower percentages. Apollon had 81 against Rethymno, a fast team with strong defense, with only 10 in the last period. Considering the debacle against AEK a week ago, I expect Apollon to be especially motivated. That means they'll be much more efficient tonight, and confirm they're a better team than the home team. Details

    The first duel of these teams in the Top 16 ended at 142, the preseason match at 129, though that is no benchmark here. They'll be playing in Greece now, in a far, far more important match and we have a high margin that I believe to be worth playing. Oly have the best defense in Europe, no point wasting time to elaborate on that, and that segment got even greater focus with the arrival of Sferopoulos. Players point out everything starts with defense, which gives them the confidence for offense, and they do prove their point on court. Fenerbahce are a team with great offensive potential, but have also gained a lot defensively with the arrival of Zisis. I believe that the match-ups in this game indicate an under, as Zisis is definitely capable of making things tough for Spanoulis, and when you do that Oly gets in trouble. Equally so, Oly have top of the line defense players capable of largely stifling Goudelock, and especially Bogdanović. Considering how important the match is, and that the losing team will have a hellish route to the Final Four, I don't believe this will be a pretty match, and I believe the winner will be decided by 70-75 points at most.     Orleans continue to be underrated, and I think this should be taken advantage of. Since Vincent took over, they're not the same team, and the quality of a potential playoff team is now coming to light. Things started poorly for them and their lack of confidence was a real problem, but it took them just two games to get that back and Orleans are a quite dangerous team now, especially after May arrived to give them strength under the rim. Credit to Le Havre for all they're doing this season, but I would not favor them so much here. The team from Normandy won more games away than at home, which only goes to show they do better when not under pressure as favorites. They're also not a team to demolish their opponents, having beaten only Boulogne with a double digit lead this season at home, so even if they win I expect it to be close. The 7.5 is a great safety here, I believe the margin to be 3-4 points too high given the balance of power, and even more importantly, the confidence Orleans gained from recent victories. Details

    Lokomotiv returned from Germny with minimum advantage, although I think it could've been a lot more convincing. The Russians dominated in the first half, but later they fell and allowed Brose to come back into the game in front of the full hall; they even took the +5 lead. In the end quality was crucial and Lokomotiv won. Today Brose won't have the fans behind them to raise them in difficult times and I think Lokomotiv will score a double-digit win. All 17 wins so far in the competition speak of their quality and that they're one of the main favorites to win the trophy. If they want to reach it, they don't have the right to fail today. This season only Buducnost covered this margin in Krasnodar in Eurocup, but it was an unimportant math when Lokomotiv practically already secured the first place in the group. Krasiyaka, Valencia and a number of other good teams have been convincingly beaten and I think a similar destiny awaits Brose. The Germans can press the defense, but I think they will have great problems with the best defense in the competition. Lokomotiv has a very mobile frontcourt and they can reach easy points from their defense, which will make the offense easy. I see this match as a one-way street. Simon believes this can be a convincing win, and I expect them to confirm that on the court. Details

    Avtodor are a completely offense-oriented and fast-paced team but I think this margin is far too high. First of all, this is the quarterfinals, two games are to be played and who ever loses today will be in a very tough situation ahead of the second-leg match. If we take a look at Eurochallenge stats only, Trabzon have two overs in 12 games, one was the insignificant defeat to Jenisej, the other one to Cluj early in the season, before Markovic took over. Him taking over saw Trabzon improve their game greatly, they are playing home today and I believe they will bring the pace down a bit. Avtodor have only one over in 12 games (in regulation time). Three over times account for other overs but if take a look at regulation time only, they games are finishing at an average of 163.7 points, which is 11 points under this margin. Trabzon are at 163.7 points when two last games are taken into consideration and I think it's very clear this margin is set too high, especially given the importance of this game. VTB league is a whole other thing but if we take it into consideration as well, Avtodor's tough away games (Himki, UNICS, Lokomotiv) finished under this margin. Avtodor also had a long trip ahead of this game, Rodinov said the team are tired, which could also result in slower pace. Details

    I think the odds are missed here, and set exclusively based on Samara's last results. The Russian team will play with four players who missed the last matches here. Berzins and Bristol are the team's best players, and Matejunas and Fidij have important roles in the rotation. Besides, Glazunov and Gudumak should play for the first time, and they should be important reinforcements. Artešin was in the roster in the last matches, but didn't play, so he's expected to contribute today. If all the announcements come true, Samara will have seven players here, a few of them the most important ones, and that changes things a lot. I think they have at least an even chance to win. Besides, the rest of the team played the best match in Astana, especially Zarjažko, who dealt well with a team much stronger than Riga. The Latvians played without Robinson and Fall in Moscow, there's no info on whether they play here, but I write this pick as if the Latvians were complete. Even with that ratio of strength, this bet has a huge value.     This is definitely not a realistic handicap. Orleans are the biggest disappointment, a team that were to play for the playoff and are now saving their heads. It just goes to show how hard it is to pull up when things start going downhill. Orleans had injury issues since the season started, clumsily lost a few matches, and coach Peronnet didn't find the right tactic. Still, you have to keep in mind that 80% of this roster played for Orleans last season too, when they ended with 16-14 ratio, and on ninth place, just out of the playoffs. Actually, with the recovered Pellin and Sean May's arrival, I'd dare to say they're an even better team if lead the right way. They've definitely got the quality, and coach Vincent's arrival should be a step in the right direction, so today's match should be a new beginning. A defeat against Boulogne isn't a surprise, Vincent only had a few days to get ready, and obviously you can't do much on such a short notice. However, the break was just what they needed, and Orleans used it to get ready for the rest of the season. Vincent figured that their defense was their biggest problem, and I expect Orleans to be much better today. In that case, the margin offered is far from being realistic. The guests announce going after the win, and I wouldn't be surprised if they get it. While Orleans focused on this match in the last two weeks, Le Mans played five matches, two in Eurochallenge and three in the Leader's Cup. They spent a lot of energy, and what's left of it after the final defeat against Strasbourg was invested on the long trip and a tough match in Turkey. Even though they had four days to get ready, I think this thick schedule will leave mark on them. Besides, Le Mans only won one home match with more than seven points difference, the last one against Bourg (96-83). All they care about here is the win, and I think they'll have a tough job against Orleans. They're not the type of a team that can easily crush anyone, and the guests will have a great weapon in the paint with May, compared to the beginning of the season. If the scorers get a series, they'll hardly be stopped. I expect a much more evened out game than the odds would suggest. Details

    This is a big handicap, but the current Samara is so limited and here I see them being crushed again. On Sunday they were left at -44 at home against CSKA who rotated a lot, played with the whole crew, and no one played over 24 minutes. Today they will be additionally weakened, the most they've been in the last couple of weeks, since Sokolovski won't have Zarjazko at his disposal. Without him he only has four senior players from the start of the season who, on average, combined score 21 points per match in VTB League. Bristol (7.9 points and 10.2 rebounds) stands out the most, but Sokolovski himself said that he is tired. Puskov (3.1 points) and Zuev (4.1 points) are half-injured, and there's only captain Toporov (6.5 points in the league). The rest of the team is made up of juniors who are still not on VTB level and can't cope with its challenges. Samara lost -11 in Irkutsk in the Cup with a similar line-up. They were limited at 48 points, and that was the time when Zarjazko, Fidij and Artesin scored 26 out of the 48 points. Today I don't see a way they will be able to stand up to Zenit who are entering the match completely rested, ready, and willing to play after a 10-day break. There's too much difference in quality here, Zenit are offensively powerful and fast and can break their opponents, and Samara don't have good offensive solutions and will again remain on low numbers. The margin is high, but I would be surprised if such a mutilated away team would be able to cover it... Details

    The Eurocup knock-out was a great disappointment for Strasbourg and at the same time a great lesson. I think the defeat to Zenit made them even better and that they will only confirm it in the second part of the season. Their motivation is running extremely high and after Limoges and Nanterre got knocked out yesterday, Strasbourg got a great chance to win the first trophy of the season. They beat Le Havre easily yesterday to only confirm they are the no.1 favorite for the title. Dijon were better than Paris in theory but the reality was different. It ended up a close game that was settled early in the final quarter. The win for Dijon doesn't change the fact Borg's team are in decline. They lost 5 out of the 6 previous game and won only in the unimportant game in Ljubljana. This is their second game in 24 hours and that will matter since they don't have as much choice on the roster as Strasbourg. Collet rarely uses any player for more than 30 minutes and now has all of their at his disposal for the first time. Dijon struggle in the key, don't have the proper center, and no player taller than 203cm. That was not obvious yesterday but it could be more than clear against Strasbourg front court. I expect Strasbourg to cover this handicap. They won both head-to-head games so far when Dijon were at a much higher level.

    The margin went up by 7-8 points but I don't expect the teams to be nearly as productive. Olympiacos are defense-oriented and base their game on a tough defensive end. They are able to limit any opponents to 60 or so point home. Their allowed more than 70 points to opponent in only 6 home games (Euroleague and championship included). This is one of the toughest championship challenges for Olympiacos which is why I expect them to take this very seriously. AEK acquire a few good players in the last few weeks, played a few efficient games but more challenging opponents (PAOK 71:73 and Panathinaikos 62:70) proved their offensive end doesn't have what it takes against the top teams. They had a city derby match last Monday and I don't think they'll be interesting in a fast-pace here. AEK's defense confirmed against Panathinaikos that it can be very good. In the last 6 games since they started acquiring new players, AEK never conceded more than 80 points and I think they can keep Olympicos close to that number, which is more than enough for this bet to be successful.     Today the worst defense of the league, who so far conceded 32 points more than Panionios in 16 rounds and 44 points more than Panelefsiniakos, two teams from the bottom, is coming to OAKA Arena. It's clear this should be a relaxed match. Trikala prefer a faster pace, but with Kadji's leave they will probably force transition even more, because they are weakened in the paint. They could have trouble with Panathinaikos's defense. In the first head-to-head Panathinaikos won with 41-26, and today that dominance should be even more pronounced. Panathinaikos are playing somewhat faster under Ivanovic, especially in home championship matches, as today's. Against AEK they scored easy pointed from transition and they will know how to use Trikala's errors in offense. All opponents from the bottom part of the table conceded 90 or more points, while PAO remained on smaller numbers only against strongers teams (Aris, Rethymno, Kifisia). Trikala are faster, they are not strong in the defense which was seen in the first head-to-head when Panathinaikos scored close to 100 points. The bet for a total over of points is not bad, especially since Panathinaikos could be more relaxed because of the match in the Cup on Sunday. But, Ivanovic's team can leave Trikala on 60 or less points, and I don't want to depend on their engagement in the defense. Details

    Since this game is played at OAKA Arena, which is where Panathinakos play their home games too, this will be no ordinary away game for Ivanovic's team. They will have almost as much fans as AEK in the stands and despite the fact some players joined AEK the last few weeks, this margin is set too low. The odds are not like this at Ivanovic's team even in Euroleague games. They lost one home game this season - the one to Barcelona when they already secure the Top 16. Other than the Cup game against Olympiacos early in the season, and the meeting with Zvezda a few days ago, Panathinikos covered this margin in all their other Euroleague and Greek championship games. The odds before the first head-to-head was 1.03, margin -15.5 and the game ended with a 34-point difference, after 30 at half time. This game is taking place at the same arena and granted, AEK are better now but this margin is still to low given the fact Panathinakos are, in fact, playing home. AEK will have to do without Sakota, one of their most important players, while Panathinakos have no injury-struggles. Ivanovic's team cannot fail at this arena since a slip would most definitely saw them lose top spot ahead of the playoffs. There are no Euroleague matches this week and then have a championship game with the feeble Trikala next Wednesday. That means their no.1 priority is this game. Details

    The margin for the handicap is growing as expected, but I'm not sure we'll see anyone crushed here. Zenit got exhausted lately, since Siberia when they played without half their team, and especially mentally in France this week, when they fulfilled a great goal. Karašev pointed out the break his team will have after this match, 10 free days. This will be Zenit's 11th match in less than 40 days. Avtodor are the fastest team of the league in normal circumstances, but they're not normal here. It seems half the team got the flu, and important players like Peterson, Downs and Fesenko are out. They score over 40 points combined, and have about 20 rebounds, so this away match would be much more difficult without them. There are no official confirmations about their absence, but they were still sick yesterday, so even if they play, it won't look good. If they're out, Avtodor's game depends on Fortson, Chappell and Fesenko, the rest of the rotation are far worse, especially offensively. Looking at just the statistics (in the regular part, no overtime), Zenit have 13 unders and only 2 overs on this margin (one on 175), with one match at exactly 174 points, while Avtodor have 10-3 unders (two at 175), with two matches at exactly 174. The exhausted home team against an offensively powerful guest, but with a dull blade... Besides, the margin is too big for European standard, and a match of 40 minutes, so I think it's at least 5-6 points too high. Details

    Regardless of the fact that Trikala are better at home than away, I think they're still overestimated here. They won five matches this season, one by two, two by four points difference, Koroivos by 9, but only after the overtime. The only time they covered this margin in the regular part was against Panionios in the first part of the season, but Panionios were still playing with the juniors in that match, and that match is no measure. Even though they're at the very bottom, Panionios are constantly reinforcing their lines, so they brought McKnight this week. We can expect him to play for the first time tonight, which would be a great plus compared to the last matches. But even if he doesn't play, Hugaz will have the same lineup. Panionios team are aware that this is one of the key matches in the relegation battle, because they're two wins behind the first teams out of the relegation zone, including Trikala. The next matches will bring opponents like Rethymno and PAOK, which definitely won't be easy. I expect a bit battle and a match that can go either way. This handicap is a nice safe net in case of thriller final moments. Details
