    For Galatasaray everything stops in these 40 minutes; they have to win this and hope that Neptunas will be defeated in Spain. It's true they mainly went over this margin so far in this part of the competition, but with a couple of players leaving they have a very narrow rotation and they can win this only with a good defense. They made a step forward against Trabzon, played a match at 142 points, but still lost in the end... They played with only seven players. They will rely on them again today, and there should be no rushing around. They didn't have offense solutions against Olympiacos this nor last season, they have a hard time coping with the pressure of the Greek team and in all three head-to-head matches they remained at 67 points or less... This margin may be under the influence of the fact that for Olympiacos this match doesn't mean much, but they will go for the maximum. The Turkish-Greek rivalry is huge, and besides that, this is their final match and check before the big Greek derby against Panathinaikos in ten days. Last week's match against Zvezda also had no greater meaning, it was a brotherly duel which ended on 123 points... Sferopoulos put the most pressure on the defense since his arrival. Olympiacos look more impressive in that part, and in today's match preview they also point out that is going to be their starting point. On Monday they pushed Panioios on 17 points in the first part, and played a match of 130 points... On the other hand, their offense struggles in away matches, not once did they score over 82 points in 40 minutes. The first head-to-head ended at 159 points, but was determined long before the end.     In normal circumstances, these would be normal odds, but the circumstances are definitely not normal. Chalon will play with a really young team today, Choulet will have ten players available, five of which are 20 years old or younger. To make things complicated, the biggest problems are in the back line, the young guys will organize the game against the best defense of the league, and I doubt they'll be able to resist the pressure Strasbourg create. Chalon won't have Rich or Ireland, both main point guards, Tchicamboud left to Limoges, and if we count the center Dawson, this quarter scored over 40 points and almost 10 assists per game, with Dawson's ten jumps per game. Chalon are really weakened and I don't see how they can stand up to the best team of the league right now. They played great defense for 30 minutes against Limoges, but as expected, couldn't do it till the end, and ended up with 15 convincing points difference. I expect a double-digited win today, too, Collet's taking this game carefully, which is the most important in situations like these. No need to talk about Strasbourg's quality, they won 20 out of 23 official games this season, they got all 10 wins in the championship with at least seven points difference. Choulet said in an interview this week that without Rich, their chances are 30-1, and he's aware of the difficulty of this task, so all things considered, this should be a one way street... Details

    Nancy and Dijon's games are always a great fight and I expect a great fight today. Dijon have been particularly efficient lately, but defense-wise nowhere near their usual level, which resulted in three defeats and one win. They recorded the one win only because the opponents made too many mistakes. Borg said that is not way to play basketball and that things need to change since defense is what lead them towards success the last few seasons. Dijon then went on to Italy to concede almost 89 points, but they already secure a spot in Eurocup second stage, which is why Borg reshuffled the team. I expect them to do their best today and to record more usual numbers.

    There is no other way for Dijon to win this away game. Nancy are an extremely tough and aggressive team home, bringing that aggression to the next level lately. Their last 5 home games ended with 145 points or less and I expect the same to happen today. Nancy and Dijon played two preseason games (134 and 137 points), but Nancy didn't have their key defense figure Pietrus on the team back then. These two teams played two games here last season which ended at 127 and 129 points. Besides, the Leader's Cup race is well underway and these two teams are on the same record (6-5). That makes this an even more important game. I expect it to finish at 140 points or less. Details

    This margin is too high considering the importance of the match to both teams. Both Cholet and Bourg have, Cup games included, nine unders each in 12 matches at this margin. Cholet are coming to this match from losing to Reims, after which Buffard was very unhappy with the attitude of his players and their defense. Today this should be at the right level, as Buffard is aware that another loss would ruin all Cholet have achieved and put him as far away as possible from the Leader's Cup. For Bourg the match comes after seven losses in a row, they're next to last with a significant lag behind the first team out of the relegation zone. Far from it that they played their matches poorly, as they managed to limit Strasbourg and Limoges to under 80 points, Orleans to 76. Defense is their focus, they had the best 2nd league defense last season. Their start this season was burdened by injuries, which brought in some reinforcements but with Green and Toure leaving this is now a team very similar to last years. Both teams also have an important player injured on offense, for Bourg it's O`Basset, for Cholet it's Banks, and even if they somehow play, they're hardly be at their best game. The margin is very high for French basketball, and I expect this much closer to 150 points. Details

    The home arena might make the home team favorite to some extent, but I think this margin is set too high. They went over it only in the home game to AEK in the season opener and have not scored more than 73 points in any of the following 8 games. They were under in all three Cup games as well, managing to score 76 against a team from lower division. When playing top league Trikala and Apollon, they scored 56 and 64. Panelefsiniakos' stats are not as one-sided, but we need to draw a comparison between games where the team was lead by Skarafigas those when Kousteris was in charge. Ever since Koustenis took over, the visitors put a lot more focus on defense, which shows. They conceded over this margin only to fast-paced Rethymno (80), while limiting the opponents to less 72 points or less in the four remaining games (one of which was away game with PAOK, 76). This is a direct clash of teams that should fight for playoffs, I expect a great fight and the visiting team under this margin. Details

    High handicaps are normally not the best thing to go with but the time seems right for it today. Barcelona just lost their first game this season, which should affect their motivation even more (other than the fact this is the Catalan derby match will and the championship derby since Granollers lag just three points behind). Pascual's team normally don't play their best game in the championship, but always manage to find motivation for the best of opponents. Their game against Logrono away confirmed it. Barcelona opened the game with a 5-0 run to get 9 points up by half-time and win 34-23 in the end. I think Granollers are not as good as Longrono, who lost to Kiel by 4 and 2 goals, beat Zagreb, Metalurg, Meškov home and so on...
    Barcelona are unstoppable home this season, with only Wisla managing to lose to them by lower goal-deficit than this one there. Champions League defending champions Flensburg lost by 9. Barcelona won all the other championship games by at least 13 goals and I think the margin was never this low for their championship game since the dissolution of Ciudad Real. Granollers got 23 out of the possible 26 points in the championship, but their form is worsening. They were hit by injuries lately and everyone is looking forward to the break to be able to prepare for the second part of the season. They struggled with Huesca, Genil, Sagunto recently and all of them are either mid-table or bottom-part of the table teams. They also barely managed to beat Sportin in EHF Cup. The home game with Zamora is the priority for Granollers, since they know bringing Barcelona down is mission impossible. The visitors are the best defense in the league, but that won't mean much to Barcelona. The handicap is too low for 2-3 goals. Granollers could limit the deficit to less than ten points only if Barcelona underrates them greatly, which is not very likely given the outcome of their Saturday game. Details

    A very low margin having in mind the way both teams performed so far and the fact the game should be decided way before it ends. Kolding were a defense oriented team last season and built their success on that, but this season we're seeing a different team. They're doing much better on offense, confirmed by the fact that the only time they stayed below 30 goals in their last eight home matches was against Barcelona. All eight were ended with at least 54 goals. Kolding should not have any problems with the Turks today, and should get a comfortable lead by halftime which should allow for a calm second half, just like in Turkey where the game ended at 57. Kolding are playing a derby against Aalborg in two days, and I don't believe they'll go full throttle on defense in the finish of the game, which should allow Besiktas to score their allotment too. The Turks on the other hand lost their last chance of getting to the next stage after Wisla beat Barcelona yesterday. This makes their motivation very dubious, especially when running back on defense, and could contribute to quite a few easy goals for Kolding. The statistics also favor this bet, as Kolding have five overs in seven matches (53.3 goals), while Besiktas have four in seven (54.1). Since the match should be practically over after 30-40 minutes, we should see a more relaxed game in the finish, and a total of at least 55 goals. Details

    This morning the margin was 152, close to realistic. In the meantime, it grew to 156, and I don't see why. This will be a duel between two defensive teams. Oktjabr were offensively oriented at the beginning of the season, but when Bauermann came, that changed completely, and the results show it. Oktjabr have 155.8 points per game in this competition, and since the German coach came, the games ended with 135, 145, 151 and 152 points. They played two home games in the Eurocup, 61-59 against Partizan and 69-67 against the offensively oriented Hapoel.
    Samara are limited offensively and have to base their game on the defense. Last weekend, they played a game at 200 points, but that was more because of Himki's game style. They played nine games in the VTB league, and only two (against Himki and Nymburk) went over this margin. In the others, they had 151 or less, even when they were crushed against Lokomotiv and CSKA, when they were 30 points behind by the half-time. Besides, this is a really important game, they're direct rivals for the playoffs, and that gives this game an extra meaning. I expect a big fight and a game that will end up plenty below this margin.     I appreciate Dijon's quality when they're playing on home court, but I think today they'll be up against a heavy task. Borg's team is expectedly battling fatigue, it's hard to play on two fronts and the Canaries fiasco is no surprise. If they want to beat Nanterre today, Dijon have to press their defense because their offense numbers have lately been dropping. They're mostly under these odds, and if they would be over, it would be a very tight fit. In the last 15 matches Dijon scored over 78 in that strange match against Bourg last week. Nanterre are defense-wise one of the best teams of the league (68.8 points conceded), and here they're arriving motivated after a very bad match against Kataja. I expect them to react like in most of their matches. The away team have conceded points over the odds only in four out of 16 matches this season, against Reims and Cholet and in away games against Gravelines and Kataja on Wednesday. They have with what to compete here and I think they are closer to winning. Dijon have a special power when playing in front of home fans, they can leave anyone at under 70 points, but I expect them to remain there as well. Details

    The fact they're playing home makes Kifisia the favorite to some extent, but not as much as the odds suggest. Rethymno are great early in the season and not at all worse than Kifisia, which is why I expect a great fight today. They know they need to get the pace down and I expect a less productive game as a result. Kifisia played one like that this season - with Apollon (63-54). I would not be surprised with a similar game today. This margin is set too high. Kiisija are averaging 75.0 points so far, with their last week's meeting with Trikal bringing the average up. In 17 games, they went over this margin only six times. Rethymno are a team that prefer faster-paced game, but that style is built around a tough, aggressive defense and superior rebounding. They concede 70.8 points on average in the championship, having limited PAOK to 69, Oly to 64, Panathinaikos to 79. Kifisia will try and slow the pace down and they don't have Panathinaikos' offense quality. The margin is too high and I don't think Kifisia will be able to come close to 80 points, especially with Papatheodoru being well aware that his team's chances diminish in faster-paced game. Details

    Both total team under at CSKA and total under are good bets on this game, but the margins have dropped and lost value by now. What could turn out to be a problem for both bets is the possibility of both teams letting go in the second half in case CSKA settle the game by half time, which is not at all unlikely to happen. The first half under is therefore a good choice. Besides, those kind of bets at CSKA make a lot of sense. They have played 9 VTB League games and stayed under this margin after the first half in all nine, recording over 74 points in only one (Bisons 78, Lokomotiv 71, Enisej 71, Himki 72, Oktjabr 60, Samara 74, Riga 65, Astana 70, Zenit 72). They have played 4 games without Teodosic the past few weeks and never once went over 72 in the first half (Alba 72, Astana 70, Maccabi 70, Zenit 72). All those teams, besides Alba, are quite fast-paced and offense-oriented. CSKA are not as good offense-wise with Jackson on the floor, but their defense improves with his help, as their last games proved. Itoudis will try and win, regardless of CSKA's perfect record, expecting that his team do best from the start. As for Cedevita, coach Repesa will build everything around defense and his team won't stand a chance if Moscow get on a roll here. Cedevita beat Limoges last week in what was a very efficient game, but Repesa knows that that was an exception and that defense like that doesn't get you back-to-back wins. The defense improved as they met Mega, one of the fastest ABA League teams, whom they limited to 55 points. Their job now won't be easy against the physically powerful Russians and Cedevita will have to play very good defense from the start. Details

    There are lots of reasons that make me think Šiauliai won't fare well in Kranojarsk today. The obvious difference in quality being the first one. Šiauliai defeated Enisej in the first match - they underestimated Šiauliai, but definitely won't repeat the same mistake today. Enisej played in Avtodor, and defeated a team much better than Šiauliai. Enisej have to win this because a defeat would complicate things for them in this competition. This is their last home game, and the away games in Turkey and Belarus are next. The state in the group is that even a one-point difference could matter, which definitely works for this bet.
    It's always tough to play in Krasnojarsk, teams are changing a few time zones, and this match will be especially tough for Šiauliai. This is their sixth away game in a row, the players are really tired. So, obviously, their offensive numbers are going down. They survive with shots and speed, and with fatigue, they don't stand a chance here. In the last two games, they were defeated by Juventus, and then barely defeated the weak Mažeikiai who have 0-15 in the Lithuanian league. It would be impossible to keep Enisej under 80-90 points in Krasnojarsk. There won't be a lack of points in this match, so an easy win is expected. Enisej are fast enough to stop Šiauliai's transition, they'll stay close to their scorers, and are much stronger in the paint because of their athleticism. Everything in this match is going for the home team, so I expect this bet to pass easily. Details

    This game should be a fight for each and every point. Nancy are on a 5-4 record, sharing the last positions that would get then in Leader's Cup with their opponents. Their schedule in the next few weeks is horrible and might prevent them from advancing to Leader's Cup. Nancy can count on Pietrus again, a player important on both ends of the floor. Nancy limited 6 of their first 9 opponents under this margin. Strasbourg are top table for a reason. Their performances are good but their are first and foremost a hard-working, defense-oriented team whose offense is not capable of making a difference even when playing against bad defenses. They played 7 home games in total this season and never once scored more than 77 points in regulation time. They played offense-oriented Dijon and Limoges to score 63 and 56 points. I think this game will be much like those. Strasbourg are the favorite, but not as big a favorite as the book makers suggest. They played 5 close games with Nancy in the play-off semi final last season. None of the teams scored over 70 points back then. Collet said on numerous occasions that this team is not as good in offense as they were last season, but the offense is better now. These two teams are great rivals and Nancy want to get back at Strasbourg for the painful semi final defeat last season. They need to try and win and that won't happen if the opponents score around 80 points. Limoges proved there is a way towards a win here...The bet is widely available. Details

    As the season draws longer, Riga's weaknesses show more and more. The Latvians managed to abuse their opponent's problems and win three games, but are not that good objectively. They're facing this match in a poor mood after five consecutive losses in hopeless games. Olimpia arrived with half a roster but still got +23 in the first half and calmly controlled to the end. CSKA and Himki held +20 in Riga by halftime, while they lost by double digits in Hungary and Kazan throughout the match. They lack the quality to do more, they look for their chances against weaker opponents but the stronger ones expose their flaws.
    Lokomotiv faced Ventspils in Latvia on Wednesday and still won, even without their starting five, as only Derrick Brown played. Ventspils are stronger than Riga right now, and Lokomotiv beat them by nine points. Today they'll have everyone by Kalnietis on roster, which will widen the rotation and strengthen Lokomotiv. So far this season they struggled against tough team that denied their transitional game. Ventspils limited them to 72 and 69, and they lost to Astana, Nizhniy and Himki, in all those matches staying at 70 or under. Those are also the only matches they were limited to under 70, they went way over in others and mostly stomped down their opponents. Riga lack both the quality and tough defense, playing more of an open game, and that kind of a team cannot handle the best. Lokomotiv won all their games by at least 9 points, with the Ventspils win on Wednesday the lowest margin and covering this margin in all others. In Podgorica they won by 14, Krasnojarsk by 21, in Poland by 19, with all those being against stronger teams than Riga. Lokomotiv also have 7-0 in the Eurocup, practically securing top spot, while they're at a more humble 5-3 in the VTB league, so they should not dare to relax here. Details

    The margin is too low considering the difference in quality. Himki had lots of injury problems in the past weeks, but things are better now. Kurtiniatis can rely on all of his players for the first time this season. They made a significant progress in form, too, crushing the Bisons, celebrating in Riga, defeating Olimpija by 28 despite playing only one period seriously. The margin is too low now, it doesn't allow Himki to relax in the final moments, so I think they'll get a double-digited win here.
    Samara did make Himki's life bitter a few times in the last seasons, but this one today is a different team. They lost Bazarevič this summer, who worked a lot, and even though Sokolovski is doing a good job, you can see he can't get much more out of this team. Samara defeated UNICS at home, but that's UNICS' fault. I think games against CSKA and Lokomotiv are a much more realistic image - they were -30 at the half-time against those two, so I really doubt they can keep up with this Himki who are playing really well lately. I think this is a one way street. Details

    Why go with an under when Bourg have nine overs in nine games at this margin? For a number of reasons. Bourg's 5 out of last 6 games ended at 149 or 150 points, just over this margin. They met ASVEL, Gravelines, Limoges and Paris - all the best offenses in the league. Before that, they played at 166 points with Chalon, 154 with the offense-oriented Le Havre and 162 with Nancy as Nancy took a 20-point lead by half time. I expect a completely different story today, a real fight that could result in less than 150. Bourg are hit by a number of injuries and can't count on a few important offense players. This team is very similar to the one that conceded only 68.0 points on average home last season. They rely on defense for success, have three under in the championship at this margin in a row against teams that are much better in offense than Bourg.     After Kifisia lost to AEK last week, I'm even more sure about this bet. Kifisia had a bad night that rarely happens and I'm sure this will be a different story. Papatherodoru has a number of good individuals at his disposal that play these games very well. They won't allow Trikala to set this fast pace home. The visitors are on a 4-3 record, which is modest given their performances so far. They played two teams from bottom part of the table, beat Panelefsinakos by 11 and Kolossos by 9 controlling the game from the start. I expect the same to happen today. They beat Trikala last season as a rookie in the league. They are much better now.

    On the other hand, Trikala have been doing disappointingly. Two wins so far are not bad, but they beat one in overtime and the other one as they met trouble-hit Panionios. Home court is their driving force, but they are not nearly as convincing this year home. They lost to Panelefsiniakos, stood no chance against Panathinakos and Olympiacos. Last week, they lost to Apollon away and at this point have no quality to deal with the best teams, which Kifisia are. The visitors are very motivated, and even if Trikala manage to put up a good fight, Kifisia's experience will decide the game.     Opting on overs in the important Greek league games is not the best of ideas, but this margin is completely off. Statistically, it makes sense since Rethymno averaged 140.0 points the first seven with 3 overs (4 if we include the overtime with PAOK), while Apollon averaged 138.7 with two overs. But, the stats are greatly misleading here. Most of Greek teams rely on tough defense and games against such teams bring the averages down significantly. Rethymno finished under with Dramas, Panionios, Olympiacos - all very tough defenses. Apollon were under this margin in all the away games (Olympiacos, Kfisi, Aris and AEK, who are among the best defenses in the league). When playing faster-paced teams home, they would finish well over this margin (Panelefskinakos 173, Trikala 153). Rethymno are the fastest team in the league, with a very good transitions which means they will have good rhythm today. The eight Americans have great offense potential, and both teams have other good solutions. Last season, these two teams ended at 155 and 164 points and I expect this one to end over 150 as well.     I really fail to understand why bookies increased the margin on this game. It's gone a few points up since this morning and is currently at 152 points. Let's start from the beginning: it is an extremely important game, with the defeated losing any chance to qualify for Top 16. The position five is important as well since means the season will continue for the team, only in Eurocup. Cedevita's average in Euroleague is 146.3 points, Limoges' 152.0. Judging by that, the margin is to high, not to mention that Limoges' average has been hyped by the games with CSKA, Maccabi and Alba, with the one in Berlin settled early in the second half. I expect a similar to their first head-to-head match, or the one in Malaga when Limoges lost 75-69. If we add the championship games to the mix, the average keeps on dropping. Cedevita played a strange game with Zvedza on Monday. It was characterized by a lot of points and fouls. Repeša was angry about Cedevita's defense, well aware that his team needs to win when scoring well over 80 points home. The conceded over 80 the last two games, and before that in none. Cedevita are on a busy schedule, have a few injured players and I don't think they will be interested in outrunning today.Their home game with Unicaja ended at 141, with CSKA at 148, with Alba 147 - all below this margin. This game should be a great fight because no team are allowed to fail if they want Euroleague success. Their first h2h ended at 131 points, and I think this one will end closer to 140 points than at 155 or more.     Statistically speaking, this bet makes sense. Nizhny have around 165 points per game in the Euroleague, Zalgiris around 148. The first head-to-head match ended at 160 points. However, if we dig deeper, we will see that the under on this match definitely makes sense. Nizhny have four overs in six matches, against the very fast Sassari, against Real with whom they've had 200 points, and against Zalgiris when they received almost a 100 points. However, in that match only 72 points were scored in the first part, and the second one was a show. Against Efes on home court they've played at 142, in Kazanj at 152 points. If we include the home matches from the VTB league, we can see that Nizhny went over with the fast Oktjabro and Astan, and stayed under against Kalev, Avtodor and Lokomotiva. Today's match should be similar to those, the Lithuanian team are even slower than Avtodor and Lokomotiva, and we shouldn't spend words on the importance of the match. After last night's UNICS's win in Madrid, the defeated from this game will find themselves in a difficult situation, because UNICS are warming up and it is to be expected that they will earn the Top 16.

    Zalgiris have four unders on this bet. The only two overs are in Italy with Sassari, and in the first match in Kaunas. However, I doubt that same story will be repeated today, we should see a bigger battle and uncertainty until the very end. Zaligris played with Real at 151 and 134 points, with Efes at 128 and UNICS at 148. They're not rushing too much, they're aware of the paint quality and they're using in in positional game.
