Since Masha beat Time convincingly, she proved how important the tournaments is for her. Masha is looking great, she dominated the wins and service games,while Mariana played quite well to an extent but she won the match she should have lost. Mariana should win only a few games, which makes this margin sound good. If Masha opens the match as focused as the one against Timea, Mariana could be left with no games. She made into the main draw through qualifying matches, just like Barthel, who's been doing horribly for a while now. McHale is to face an opponent capable of staying in rallies much longer, who fires deeper shots and goes from defense to attacking quickly. On the other hand, Trungelliti is showing signs of progress and confidence. He proved how good he can be in the match against Vasselin and how powerful he can get mentally. Her opponent today is one of the most unreliable players who plays from moment to moment; and as such she is a perfect candidate to defeat. Babos has been really unconvincing lately, she mostly plays badly, and last round's win against Barthel looks convincing only because her opponent was playing even worse than her; and she also has some perverse amplitudes in the quality of her game. Everything is pretty straightforward here. Any time, any place Almagro would have been the heavy favorite. He's superior in every aspect of the game and on the right path of making a full comeback. Robert has been in decline for a while but he still plays well here and there. What to say about Schiova except that she is best form of her carrier. She won Katowice easily and after that recorded a pretty convincing win in Fed Cup. She is really good and tough and doesn't make as many mistakes as you might expect. Soler is in bad form but that is expected given her potential. She mostly loses easily to favorites, even in close matches. She loses when being the favorite as well as she is very unpredictable. The dominance with which Kei wins is amazing. It was always clear we can expect great things from him, but I didn't expect such progress so fast. He worked on his mass, stamina and technique because of which scores came before they were expected. From one match to another his game level is rising, and clay seems to suit him better than anything else. That's why his stamina, technique and the ability to hold long exchanges come to shine. He lost a set to Bautista-Agut, but just because his shape fell a little; but in the third set he didn't want to risk anymore so he pumped it up little and pulverized his opponent. Andujar achieved something amazing here, but as weird as it may sound, he had too many fellow national players as his opponents which suited him. Beating Fognini may sound surprising, especially after he beat Nadal, but Fognini is a completely unreliable player because he can lose to anyone, as well as beat the best. What's surprising is beting Ferrer, in a quite equal match; Ferrer wasn't his level, he again has foot problems and as unexpected as it may be, he underestimated his opponent. Of course Andujar is laying well, he wouldn't have reached this level if it were the opposite, but Kei is slightly better and I think he will dominate this duel. He will win more exchanges, he'll be cooler and make less errors. It's clear Andujar is playing at home and that the pressure is big, but this part of the tournament is more than enough for his level of tennis, so I think he won't handle the pressure well, especially after today's opponent who will frustrate him additionally. When Rola is interested, then he belongs to the challenger elite, without a doubt. It was obvious since the draw came out that he should easily win the tournament. He is completely convincing, his game level doesn't drop as it does his opponents', he is mentally strong and his body language says that winning this tournament is his goal. He convincingly defeated all of his opponents, he lost a set against Pella, but he didn't leave anything to chance in the third set so he played stronger, while Pella's game level dropped and he was frustrated after the break. Germain has been in bad form this year, I expected more from him, but he finally started to play better. He wasn't as convincing as Rola, but he won key points when needed and earned wins. He was supposed to get eliminated against Ghem, but the home player undersetimated his opponent and dropped a lot in the tiebreak of the second set; in the third one he completely fell apart, especially because of the tiebreak frustrations, which is why he couldn't get a first serve in, and he was rushing in the rallies and made a lot of dumb moves. When Monfils is interested, he can be dangerous against anybody. He showed it against Federer in Monte Carlo. He lost to Berdych there, but could have done better. He beat the awful Youzhny here in Bucharest, not even worth the mention, but later convincingly beat Bolelli. Garcia-Lopez's form isn't that great, but he's playing good tennis that can deal with most of the players, but not Monfils. He showed his tendency to make mistakes against Bagi and Rosol. Considering that Monfils is generally superior to him, I believe he should win by at least four games difference. It's very likely that this will be a convincing wing, but Monfils can win with at least four games difference no matter who he faces. The only question is what's on his mind today. Details

Given her start to the new season, not many expected Kerber would clinch the title in Charlston, especially not against such convincingly and powerful Keys. Still, Kerber did it through fierceness, determination, and good tennis. As the tournament advanced, she was getting better and more confident. He's got really good motivation that will get him on the next level over the next month. He displayed a tough and stable game in qualifying matches, while displaying some instability only in the last round but that was due to the fact he was on a brink of making it into main draw. Carusov is a futures level player who doesn't have any special quality, unlike Sancic, who has great serve, especially the second serve with a kick that throws the opponent off. He also has creativity and pretty good volley. Carus is playing home but he's very unreliable and mentally weak. If Sancic plans to attack his second serve and get in the court, while doing his best in his own service games, He will literally leave the opponent with no chance. There is, of course, a chance that he might fall apart as well but the way he behaved in qualifying matches speaks against that. The odds at his win are more than good, while the draw is very favorable and he should take advantage of it. Details

After watching both matches, I can only come to one conclusion; Paula is playing horribly, she lacks confidence, while Lara is playing great, she's full of confidence and doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Since Spain has a 2-0 lead, Paula will have an extra burden which will break her, put her in a cramp even more, which is why she will make even more mistakes and her confidence will drop. On the other side, Lara is under minimum pressure, she can relax and play her best tennis. Since Goffin is now injury-free and has proved that he's headed for the top form, we can expect a lot from him. He's doing great and is clearly in for a great season. Keys is playing a really good tennis this week. She's confident, reliable, as cold as needed. Strong and precise hits, deep balls, incredible serve. Her statistics are amazing throughout the whole tournament, almost nobody has a statistic like that in this many matches in women's tennis. She showed complete dominance throughout this whole tournament and it doesn't really matter who'll she face in the final. A mitigating circumstance is that she'll face Kerber who's completely inferior in any segment of the game, especially the serve. Kerber ended a really bad series this week, her lot was lucky, and her opponents weren't good enough to force her to play better. She beat Petković in the last match, but you could see she was tired and not really interested. Kerber actually played well considering what was expected. Considering the type of the court and the conditions, the home court and her current form, Keys is an absolute favorite, and anything but her convincing win would be a big surprise. Details

Comparing these two, Keys form is much better. She's strong, secure, has no inhibitions. Her statistics are incredible. The conditions suit her perfectly, and after everything we've seen, she should get the title easily. Her game is amazing. Hradecka has a lot of matches in her feet, she beat some decent players, but her game shows insecurities, and it's only a question of time before her game degrades significantly. Considering she didn't face a player like Keys, who's strong and precise in every segment, she will hardly find her way, will make more mistakes, and will become more frustrated. By watching both players in the first two rounds of Charleston I can easily conclude that Keys is playing at a much higher level. Lauren had more luck and she hasn't showed much of quality tennis, because she defeated bad Min in the first round, and catastrophic Bouchard in the second, who seems to be enjoying sabotaging herself and losing. Keys is very convincing on her serve, conditions here suit her and she should win by six or more games.
