She is very focused on each shot, doesn't make too many mistakes, serves better and knocked out opponents much better than Liebens in a convincing manner. On the other hand, Liebens is not very good in her service games, which will result in a lot of break points for Bonaventure. Since opponents know each other very well and since they both play home, making prognosis can be tricky. But both are very keen to do well and will try their best. Venus is in an excellent form, no problems with injuries, she's very motivated, and progressed a lot in her game. Seppi is one of the candidates for the title in Zagreb this year. He began his season with a great game in Doha where he lost to Berdych; then he lost to Pospisil in Sydney, but he entered that match as if it were practice in order to warm up for Australian Open. Then he almost won the quarter-finals of AO playing against Kyrgios, and the round before that he beat Federer. He feels great in Zagreb and he loves coming there. Chung has shown incredible progress within one year and we can expect even more from him. As a player, he is improving with each new match, and is mentally at a level much higher than those his age and many older colleagues, showing confidence and focus. He decisively beat Martina and Eysseric, and against Kavčić he showed he can time his form and adjust to stronger players, beating them in the end. Ito has not been in great shape for a while now, he is playing more out of habit than a desire to win or achieve a result. He is a rather limited player, and the level he is at now, with some oscillation, is where he really belongs. Here he beat two much worse players, and a disinterested opponent still looking for himself. This is a match of two players with opposite trends for parameters important in any match. Ito is stagnating in his game, mental strength and drive, while Chung is growing stronger in all those segments. A match against Panova agitated Masha. She played badly, had too many oscillations and errors. Panova was focused and aggressive. When Panova came close to winning, she decided to change the style and play easier, just return the balls because she expected Masha to do the job for her by making unforced errors. She shouldn't have done that. Masha started playing better and dominated till the end. In the next match, against Dyas, she showed self-confidence and focus, and a clear message that she'll go all the way calm and confident. Peng didn't have a tough job so far. In the last match Shvedova defeated herself. Since Masha is superior in any segment, and Peng can't be a threat, it's likely that the difference will be eight or more games. Peng's hits suit Masha perfectly, as does her weak serve, so Masha will easily get lots of winners. The only one who can make problems for Masha is herself, but only if she doesn't cover the handicap. She can't jeopardize her win even then. Since Daria is the new hope of the Australian team and feeling great in Australia, we can expect her full commitment, both mentally and physically. She's had an extremely successful start of the season, other than winning an invite to the Australian Open she won all her matches decisively. Kerber was a bit too much for her, but she sill put up an incredible fight and showed everyone we can expect a lot from her. She can and should improve in all aspects of her game, and currently has the mental strength, fitness and incredible desire to prove that Australia chose well. Kiki is still too unstable and stagnating, she just can't seem to grow and advance to the next level. She ended the last season rather well, proven by the fact she's in the Top 100. The start of this season was rather underwhelming (to my expectations), and I doubt there will be any major changes to that in the next weeks. I expect more unforced errors from Bertens and much less interest and rush on each shot. Daria Gavrilova might be an unknown quantity for many, but that will certainly change after this season. Both players like hitting the ball hard, make mistakes, lack consistency in their game, and both are prone to double faults. At the same time, both are great players capable of great achievements, only if there was more focus and mental stability. Diyas is rising, both physically and mentally, but she showed a moment of weakness in the last match and lost after 6-3, 6-5. She did play against a player who was at home, and who almost got defeated, but then went to all or nothing and managed to turn things over in her favor. All in all, Diyas is a much better player any way you look at it, and she should win this by at least five games difference. Details
