Berizzo resting his first-team players for Europe

It seems that the home team have written off the championship, while the away team are in the battle for the Champions League again

Celta are getting further away from the European positions in the League, and in such situation, they have decided to completely focus on the Europa League. Celta lost convincingly, 5-0, at Barcelona, but in the Europa League on Thursday they recorded and advantage over Krasnodar. Celta are going to Russia with a 2-1 result, while in the championship they no longer have to fear relegation, but they are unlikely to reach European positions. 

Eduardo Berizzo will have the return fixture in Russia next week, so he openly announced:

- We have gained a nice lead against Krasnodar, but they are a great team against which we will have a difficult job in the return fixture. We have to know our priorities and distribute strength accordingly. Some players are feeling the consequences of the European game, and I probably won't use them against Villarreal. 

A confirmation of coach's words came a little later when he announced that John Guidetti, Pione Sisto, Andreu Fontas and Jonny Castro, all important first team players, will not be in competition for this game. Injured goalkeeper Blanco and  forward Pablo Hernandez have been injured for a while. 

After the disaster at Roma in Europa League, Villarreal have improved and they are playing better and better and recording good results. After a convincing win at Osasuna, last weekend they defeated Espanyol 2-0, and the Yellow Submarine are back in competition for a position that leads them into Champions League qualifiers. 

- The key of success against Celta will be strong defensive performance. Celta's strongest weapon is their killer attack. They are a team that like fast, offensive football which is why we first have to close all paths toward our goal. We are aware that this is a crucial game in the battle for the Champions League position, and that is why we plan to play with 100% of out abilities. We have improved in our latest performances and we are convinced that we can win points at Vigo as well - Fran Escriba is optimistic ahead of the game against Celta. 

Goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo is still out, and Adrian Lopez and Denis Cerisev are questionable for today's game, but the latter two are not crucial players. Roberto Soldado had some muscle problems over the week, but Escriba has a great replacement for him in Nicola Sansone.
