Doi showed she deserves a better placement in Luxembourg than the one she currently has, but we also have to take into consideration her way towards the finals. She was quite lucky. Petkovic played one of the worst seasons this season, while the other three opponents had problems with injuries and fatigue. Barthel had a lot tougher journey and she left a better impression. She's really sure behind the first serve and that is going to be one of her main aces. Doi doesn't have such a strong first serve and she offers more break chances, and the confident German will know how to use that. It's not my goal to underestimate Doi, but I simply don't think that she belongs to this level yet. Everything "fell in" in Luxembourg, but in the finals she has a better tennis player who will use her advantage on the serve and forehand, and win without too much drama. I simply don't see a scenario in which Doi could surprise Barthel in these conditions, and the handicap of -3,5 seems like an option I simply have to take.
