Germany - Poland (3:1)

Germans want six points this week

  • Published:

Two slip ups at the start of the qualifications put Germany into a more difficult position. Selector Low has made it an imperative to win six points. Poland have done their job quite well so far

Reigning world champions are not as convincing in the EC qualifications as it was expected. Away loss against Poland and home draw against Ireland have put them in the position that they still haven't qualified for the European Championship in France. That is realistic, but in order to confirm it, they will need two wins in the next few days (Poland, Scotland).

- The situation was much more difficult last year. A few players retired from the national team, the rest were physically and mentally exhausted because of the long Summer in Brazil. The situation is a bit different this year, I am convinced that our supporters will enjoy the game. The situation is not as comfortable as we have been used to in the previous years, but it's not alarming either - said selector Low ahead of the game.

The biggest problem is forward Marco Reus' injury, and he won't be able to play in the next two matches.

- Marco is a great player and that is a big handicap for us. But we do have players with whom we will try to replace him - added German selector.

However, if we look at the history of German matches, then Reus' absence shouldn't be a big problem. He missed the Brazil World Cup because of an injury, and after that he was available for only four out of 10 games played. In short, Germany usually plays without him anyway.

In the 4-2-3-1 formation, the only questionable position is one attacking midfielder. It is unknown if Schurrle, Bellarabi or Podolski will start the match. Low confirmed that Goetze is ready, and that he will play, and so will Ozil. Muller also seems to be playing.

Hector should solve the constant left wing problem, while defense with healthy Hummels and Boateng should be key for stopping Lewandowski.

With Reus, Howedese, Badstuber and Khedira are also absent, but considering the rest of the team, these absences should be compensated.

Poland have been very good in the qualifications so far. They are still undefeated, and their biggest win is definitely the one over Germany in the first game. It's a shame they drew in Ireland (conceded in the 91st minute) because with two points more, they would already qualify for France.

- I love watching Germany and I am truly impressed with their quality. But we have our strong suits as well and we will not give up just like that. We have been playing good and we have the right to hope for a positive result - said selector Nawalka.

The strong suit he is talking about is definitely the team spirit which he instilled into his ream. Poland had players from the best leagues in the previous years as well, but the results didn't come. It is clear that he managed to put everything together, and with maturation of players, create the winning formula.

We can't ignore the fact that Poland has an experienced team. Only offensive player Milik is younger than 25-26 years, all other players have played abroad for many seasons.

Nawalka usually likes to play the 4-4-2 formation, but it seems that he will set up a more careful formation here, which could be the closest to 4-2-3-1 with Lewandowski at the top of the attack and Milik behind him.

Among absences, we should mention defenders Pazdan and Komorowski, but it seems that Nawalka is not too worried by their absences. He might be more concerned with the fact that Piszczek and Blaszczykowski are not in top form.

Germany are dealing with certain problems and things don't seem as easy for them as when they won the World Cup. That doesn't mean they cannot beat anyone easily but, as a rule, the wins are not that easy. When the opponents sense that, they usually try harder than normally. Poland did just that id the first match and won. It was quite an aggressive game that finished with 5 yellow cards. Other than in the games against Gibraltar, the Germans have 3 overs and 1 under at the 3,5 yellow cards margin. Poland have 3 overs and two unders. I expect Germany to be offense-oriented today and Poland that will try and put an end to that through aggressive game. What is an average bet gets great when we know that the Italian referee Rizzoli is to officiate this game. He had more than 3.5 handed out in the last 10 official games. Since the start of 2014, he was officiating 47 games, 39 of which were in over. To sum up, this is an importnat game between two neighboring countries in which the home team will attack and the well-experienced visitors (average age of 26-27) will try and prevent them from that. They will try and get a point. Also, the referee went over this margin in 82% of his games over the past two years. That is more than enough for this bet. Other than with bwin, you can find the bet at this margin at bet365 at smaller odds. For those who don't have this offer or are ready to take more risk I recommend over 4 with bet364 or over 4,5 with marathon, or over 45 booking points' with WHill at odds over 2.60 for unit or two down. Any option with a lot of bookings looks good today.
