One team will get the first win in this year's Grand Prix

Both teams don't have a win after the first two games in Ankara. Both are in poor form and are not playing at their usual level. The Americans have a better tradition in these games

The last day of the tournament in Ankara will start with the duel of Japan and USA. These two teams have lost their first two games, but the Americans at least got a point. After the initial defeat against Russia, they were defeated by the hosts in five sets yesterday. What's worrying is the fact that they made lots of errors, a total of 39.

- We've made too many mistakes, we were great visitors for Turkey. We're facing Japan tomorrow and they play a different style, there's plenty of different styles in women's volleyball - said the US coach Kiraly after their defeat in Grand Prix.

It's a rare sight to see Americans start this competition with two consecutive defeats. The question is when was the last time this happened to them. They were beaten by Turkey in a tight fifth set by 15-12. Kiraly tried to make some changes but he couldn't turn the game around. The Americans came back from 1-0 and 2-1 in sets but they couldn't get the final comeback. The fans helped Turkey a lot as they filled the arena and carried their team.

Japan are the type of opponent that suits USA. They suffered their last defeat against them three years ago at the World Cup. They have beaten them at the Montreux Masters this year and they beat them last year in the last official game by 3-1.

Since Japan have secured the final tournament as the hosts, their performances here have involved lots of compromise. That's one of the reasons they haven't been so brilliant so far, they are far from their right form. They are making lots of mistakes, they're not as good as they could be in defense and they struggle against blocks from stronger teams. This will definitely be an advantage for USA.

- Our defense wasn't good and our attack was even worse. We've made too many mistakes, and it all resulted in our defeat - the Japanese coach Manabe was unhappy with the performance in yesterday's game. 

Japan lost against Russia by 3-1 (25-23, 25-13, 24-26 and 25-18). Manabe made plenty of rotations, tried various options. He could afford it as Japan have secured the final tournament and they will use the first phase of this competition to get into good form.
