PSG won all the domestic trophies last season and want to make the next step in Europe this one. The team did very well in friendly matches against North American teams and before returning home they want to win the first trophy of the season - the French Supercup. That match is taking place in Montreal, Canada this year. If PSG win, it will be their third consecutive Supercup title. 

- It's always nice to open the season with a trophy. We'll try to do it again. We are still far from Lyon's record-breaking 8 titles in this competition but a win today would see become the second most successful team when it comes to the number of Supercup titles - coach Lauren Blanc said.

Blanc has all of his players at his disposal today but not all of them are in good form. Midfielder Thiago Motta played only 45 minutes and will most likely be out today, especially because he said he wanted to leave Paris. Javier Pastore and Ezequie Lavezzi were given a bit more time to rest after Copa America, which most likely means that neither of them will play the whole game.

Lyon were dominating the French football up until a few years ago. They were in a decline since then up to the last season when the Lions managed to finish in the runner-up position.

Lyon truly are a good quality team but they are the underdog today. The fact their top player Fekir will be out with a suspension today won't help with that. Lyon's offensive midfielder was given the suspension last season and even though club president Aulas wanted the suspension to be lifted for the sake of 'spectacle and football', it didn't happen. The injured midfielders Grener and Fofana are out as well.

Unlike PSG, who did very well in preseason, Lyon fell short of expectations. The French vice-champions recorded 4 defeats in 5 games, with the one to Arsenal (6-0) being especially tough.

Lyon are not the favorite today but any team that has Maxime Gonalons, Samuel Umtiti, Anthony Lopes or the top French player of the last season Alexandre Lacazette is not to be written off.
