From the start of the season, the Gornik team were put together for much greater things than the sixth position they're in now. Third place was a priority, and they probably have not given up on that yet. However, by staying in sixth position they would probably go against Pogon in the playoff, an opponent few wish to fight this season. Although they had their ups and downs in the first part of the season, the two games they played in the second part provide a good dose of optimism. After all, coach Ljiljestrand himself promised that the team would be much better in the spring, and it seems he was right, at least judging from what they've displayed against Wisla and Pogon. It is extremely important that Ljiljestrand is finally satisfied with defense, which was another weak segment, but functioned great vs Pogon even though they were a few players short. Jurasik is still in top form, the quality of Kubisztal, Kuszcynski and Tomczak need not be questioned, and it seems they are all finally in sync, which was the basic issue. Stal, on the other hand, are still off track, not looking good even after they went through preparations, and I don't believe they can go past the first round of the playoff in their current state. A team that concedes 35 goals to Gwardia cannot expect a good result. The bet is also influenced by the absence of Gudz, the main defense player for Stal. Gudz had the same injury he has now last year in the second part of the season, and it turned out to be a problem for the team back then as well, although they had a better lineup. MMTS and Pulawy are pretty similar teams and you can see that from their head-to-heads in recent seasons. These are the games without a clear favorite and that is the case today. I should reiterate that MMTS got their bronze last year against Pulawy as they won the series by 2-1. Despite the result this fall, MMTS have the advantage here and I will go for the bet that certainly has a value at these odds. Realistically speaking, MMTS are a good team which lacked organization and continuity in the first part of the season. Despite that, they've played a few great games at home and they've shown they can be dangerous. That's how they lost the game against Kielce by a narrow margin and took a point against Wisla, while their only real home blunder was the defeat against Glogow. They have handled their preparations - a great game against KPR that definitely lifted their spirits and the coach announced the campaign for the 5th spot which they will be able to get only if they win at home. MMTS really need these 2 points and based on the defense they played in the last round, I think they can beat Pulawy. The fact that only away wins for Pulawy came against the teams involved in the relegation battle makes these odds great for e medium stake, which would be even higher had MMTS not had such variable performances. I think the bookmakers overdid the handicaps they offered today. Considering what both of these national teams showed in three games this January, I don't think Italy are so much better. Cyprus gave a lot of hard time to both Romania and Slovakia in two home games, and were almost an equal opponent, especially against the Romanians who they almost defeated. They didn't show much in the away games, but I still don't believe they're so bad to lose with more than 9 difference. Their home defeat by Italy should be taken with a grain of salt because the national league only just started that time, and the Cypriots were out of shape, unlike the Italians in that game. It is hard to predict the final outcome for this game as Wisla could very much lose this game. They definitely cannot be the absolute favorites with so many absent players. Their front court is left with Eklemović, Kavaš, Milas and Kević while Nikvečić will probably step into one of the back positions. Wisla scored 21 against Kwidzyn and 10 of those goals were scored by Nenadić who is also gone today. I believe I don't have to explain this handicap too much. There is no player in this team that can carry the rest. For me, the crucial man for Wisla will be Šego as was the case against Kwidzyn. As soon as he saved a few shots, Wisla got back into the game. It was clear to Cadenas then that he cannot go for run'n'gun with this team. Zrnić can no longer take it and Toromanović's and Milas's physique does not really fit that that style. Considering they will only have 2 goalies and 4 players on the bench, trying to outrun Glogow would be a disaster. Even though there are some new faces in the team, the coach is the same, and the style of play didn't change, either. Just take a look at their last preparation before coming to Serbia. Romanians conceded 21 goals per game, in four games. Japan and Angola each scored 18 against them, and those are not weak national teams, especially Angola. Denmark scored 23 in the first game against them, and it's common knowledge that they live on the counterattacks and running. It was 26 in the second game. As for Tunisians, they mostly depend on Chebbah, which will make things a lot easier for coach Tadici when he sets up his strategy. Tunisians scored 18 goals against the French in the pre-season, and I expect something along those lines today. Romanians know they have to win today, and they'll play a serious game. Stord's team has changed a lot since last season. They had high hopes before the season, and the way things look now, they can still achieve their goals. They opened the season by losing at home vs OIF, but that can be attributed to lack of coordination. They went on to score 4 victories and a defeat at home after that. That means their only defeat was vs Fyllingen, and after penalties too. Gjeitrem missed a shot for the win in that game, and it ended 24-24. To lose a derby in such a manner was rather stressful for the home team, so now everything is focused on winning this and getting revenge. They do have the guns for it, as Knudsen is the second best scorer of the league and a man who can decide the game. As the away team's defense is not up to much, I don't believe they can stop him. They also have Eriksen and Gjeitrem, both excellent players and important links in the team. Gjeitrem is celebrating his birthday today, so there will be plenty of motive. This is also the last game in this calendar year for him, so he will pour his soul out on the court. The home court atmosphere, only one defeat in regular time, tremendous motive and a quality offense of the home team are the arguments leading me today. Along with all that, Stord are two points ahead of Fyllingen, making this an excellent chance to take off a bit. Piotrkow have to win today. KPR are 3 points ahead and Lubin and Gwardia are 4 points ahead. Since they have three difficult away games before the break, this game is practically do-or-die situation. In addition, coach Jednorog's situation is a very shaky one. Even though the club said they won't change coaches, the results dictate everything. Before the game, the coach and the players said that they are fully motivated and are expected to end their black run, they are calling for the fans to come and support them, they are supporting each other and are announcing to go into this game with full throttle. While I was studying this game, I couldn't help but wonder what are these odds based on. Drammen's win was at 1.75 last night and Bodo at 2.5 which made no sense. Some time during the night and early morning things started to make more sense, but the bookmakers still favor DHK. I don't. They are the last team in the league Bodo are the second. DHK have only a single win and Bodo have 5 and a draw and are still undefeated. I thought Drammen's win simply made no sense but then I took into consideration that they only played two home games. They did great against Haslum and they beat them in the next game in the cup. They are pretty solid lately and their keeper Bergerud has particularly improved. However, even if they win today, I don't think they will score more than 28 goals against the best defense in the league. Gornik have reinforced their roster tremendously prior to the season, but those reinforcements needed to be tuned in and formed into a competitive team. This means they lost points to 4 strong teams, with the defeat vs MMTS somewhat of a surprise as well. They did well in that last game too, but their defense failed when they needed it most. That defeat got them angry, and they sent a clear message through the media that they intend to correct that mistake today. One thing is clear: Gornik have a top level team. Maybe not a title team, but worthy of a third place. They had three weeks to tune in, and that is an added value to this bet. Glogow have demonstrated certain quality, but I think they still lack the required level to parry a team like Gornik in their home court. Haslum are the best team in the league. They are playing excellent handball and one can tell they have a great setup, but I do not believe they will beat Stord today. They completely underestimated the second-division team in the cup, they accepted some ridiculous bets in case they lose, and then they were shocked. A week ago, Falk hadn't had a single win. The reason? In my opinion, it was the case of "we'll take it easy". I think Elverum will take this seriously and when they do so they are able to beat this Follo by even 10 goals.
