    Russia started this tournament with a convincing performance against Belgium, they had a 15 point lead by halftime, and later routinely finished the job, even though they had 0/9 three point shots. They relaxed in the final quarter so the win by 9 does not show the real situation. Selector Vasin did not keep any player on the court for longer than 20 minutes, Osipova, Cerepanova and Logunova were not on the record so we can expect them to play today, because they are not injured. We should point out that Russia and Belgium will be in the same group at the upcoming EC so that my be why they slowed down at the end.
    This was the first friendly game for Russia this year, Hungary played three, and lost all three, and they had no chance against hosts Italy last night. It was proved once again that they are struggling in defense, they have a short bench and no width in the paint which is where the Russians are the strongest with Vadejeva, Vieru, Vidmer, Osipova, Cerepanova. All the Russian players are playing in top Russian teams (mostly UMMC and Dinamo Kursk), and all players showed up.
    Hungary cannot count on their top player, WNBA point guard Vandersloot who is still in the USA, but should join them in june. In comparison to previous national team games, they cannot count on point guard Quigley any more, who carried the team in the past years, and important Vajda and Honti are also out. Hungary lost twice to Slovenia in this preparation period. When Slovenia were complete, Hungary lost by 13, and they lost when Slovenia were weakened the day after that. Last night they were down by 7 at halftime against Italy, they fell apart in the third quarter.

    It was difficult to choose between all the under options, overall, half-time or some version of the team under at halftime (Valencia 38.5 too high). Because of the 'king' Pinnacle, and elsewhere available halftime, we will go with halftime overall. So 73.5... Their first head-to-head in the series was at 41-26, Barca demolished the second one by halftime, and they went over with 49-32. Their head-to-head in the championship 35-29 here, one point over, and we have an important game from the Copa del Rey final, played at Vitoria, and Barca had 38-29 lead. There are a lot of facts that Valencia are critical in elimination games, especially at home where they lost the Eurocup final and the Euroleague ticket (halftime with Unicaja 33-30) and we have 44-22 from the previous series, third game against Hapoel at home, which is not a minus for me, because of the Israeli (the first game of the series 36-35 at halftime in Valencia). The third home game against Khimki was at 39-34 at halftime. We also have the last round against Murcia where they ruined their position (27-26). Barca are defensively good, but they are struggling offensively. This game is a chance to save the season for both teams, and in my opinion the halftime will be under 70 points.     These two teams meet in the semis second leg which is played today and tomorrow in Bietigheim. Thuringer are runner-ups in Germany, while Metzingen finished in spot 3. What is relevant about the runner-ups is the number of injured players. That has not changed today. They are still without 5 players: Luzumova MB, Niederwieser LB, Scheffknecht LB, Planeta RB and goal keeper Krause. That means they will play with 1 goal keeper and 8 field players. They played like that the last 6 championship games to record 3 wins, 2 draws and one defeat. They beat easily the teams that had nothing to play for and played a draw with Buxtehuder who fought for spot 4. They lost by 11 in the last round to champions Bietigheim.
    Metzingen are among the top three German teams. They were in spot 2 after the first part of the season and later started lagging behind because they played two competitions and their top two players hot injured. After the defeat to Oldenburg in April, the coach was sacked and Edina Rott took over. They recorded three convincing wins with her and lost in the last game to Neckersulemr. That was an irrelevant game for Metzingen.
    When it comes to h2h games Metzingen won the first one 30-24 while Thuringer retaliated 35-28 in the second. Players who won't be there today scored 15 goals in total for Thuringer. Thuringer can win even with 8 players against teams that have nothing to play for. At the same time, they struggle with top team.     Turda made up for the 8-goal deficit in the first round but Sporting are not Valur and I don't expect any kind of drama here. On the contrary, I think Portugal cannot win here. In any case, we have a meeting between two offense-oriented teams. The game could easily be settled earlier and last week, when the goal difference was important, they played at 65.
    Turda stayed under 55 only with tougher teams like Timisoara (three times), CSM, Satu mare, Focsani, Fagaras. The last three of those are the worst teams in the league. Sporting stayed under 55 in only 4 out of 21 away games. The only problem is the 52 with Braga. They are a team that is in the race for the Portuguese championship but they were always in over (the only exception was against tougher Aquas). This should finish with at least 57-58 goals. I wouldn't be surprised if it went over 60 again. Details
