    We have a similar story to the one with Spain and Taiwan from this morning. Turkey have never played a team from the Far East in their history, which is a big problem. That kind of a fanatic defense is not something you can learn to deal with just by watching a video. The Turks finished the first tournament with three wins but B/C Slovakia team, the unmotivated Portuguese and the Dutch who are rebuilding the team aren't the kind of opponents that could impress me. Japan went to Cairo with an identical team which played the first tournament, with Shimizu, Yoneyam, Yanagid and I don't think they're the underdogs against the average Turkey. Granted, Turkey are physically more powerful but the Japanese have more experince against these kind of teams. Turkey have never been faced with this kind of a game style. The odds we have at 1,5 handicap here should be the odds at Japan's win. Details

    In the next three days, Luxembourg will host the qualifying tournament for the European Championship for small countries. The best two teams will get a spot at the final tournament while the best team here gets a visa for the second qualifying round for 2017 World Championship. Iceland and Scotland are to open this tournament. Scotland are the favorites on paper because of their better reputation and better results from previous years. Scotland are here without their top player and team captain Beattie, who is a receiver. They will also be without one other receiver Couts and two opposites. An Italian expert Capriotti has been in charge at Iceland for 2 years now. There is a big improvement regarding their game and results since he took over. Last year at European Championship for small countries (which Scotland didn't play) they won spot 3 with 2 wins and 2 defeats. They beat Lichtenstein 3-0, San Marino 3-1 and lost to Luxembourg 1-3 and Montenegro 0-3. Iceland have been preparing for this for two months. They are complete and have played test games against Denmark some ten days ago. Denmark won both 3-1. Denmark are at least one level higher than Scotland in quality and even a set for Iceland here has value. Iceland are very ambitious and want to finish in one of the top two spots. They have a big chance not to win just one set, but for much more. Set at Iceland should not be paid with more than 1,75-1,80. Details

    I've seen all the matches these two teams played in the last tournament and I don't see why the Spaniards are so favored. They've lost a set in each game, Mexico almost beat them, and even Germany C lineup found a way to get them to the fourth set. Taiwan made one mistake in Kozaniy (0-3 against Kazakhstan), but have beaten Puerto Rico routinely and were evened out to Greece with Đurić for almost three sets. The Spaniards traveled almost 40 hours to Almaty, and the Taiwanse came from Greece, so they spent less time for the trip. So, tactically, I'd say that Taiwan have the advantage because they played team similar to the Spaniards in Kozaniy, and the Spaniards will face the Asian fast game for the first time in he last two years. Taiwan are similar to China who have beaten Spain two times in the World League two years ago, and the Spaniards were stronger then. Long trip, changing a few time zones and the opponent's game style - all of this tells me that this game is going to be more intense and evened out than the bookmakers think, and the odds for the Taiwanse set should be a lot lower.
