    Greece have so far been justifying the role of the favorite they were given before the tournament. Their only serious opponents were Germany, but they managed to turn that around after struggling in the first three quarters. The most important thing in that game is the fact Lountzis and Charalampopoulos played for over 30 minutes, which confirmed they are fully fit. With them on the team, Greece are main contenders for gold. The defense Greece have been playing since U18 tournaments of two years ago until now suggests Montenegro will have massive problems here. There aren't many teams that can hit even 60 points against Greece and as we saw, Montenegro didn't go over 63 points in regulation time in any of the group games. Greece allowed over 60 only twice in the last 12 games - to Lithuania, who have great offensive end and two day ago in the Germany meeting with almost 70 free throws. Montengero are a team that doesn't have much offensive potential, especially when the opponents manage to stop center Popovic. Bakic is too slow, Starovlah will be stopped by the Greek defense. The Greek assistant coach said he would like the pace to go up, that won't happen because this Greek generation has been playing the same kind of game for years. They will get the speed only after a lot of tunrovers for Montenegro. Even though my original option was Montenegro team under, the Greece handicap seems a bit better option. They could settle this early on and that could get the pace up (we saw something like that in the Lithuania-Montengero game. Details

    I have no doubts France will win this and score a lot of goals. This French generation is undefeated for three years in official games, apart from their meetings with Spain or Germany, who are much better than Sweden.What I like most as a betting option here is a goal over for France because Sweden disappointed me a lot with their defense against Qatar even though they allowed only 21 goals. However, it was Qatar that mostly controlled the pace.

    France have a lot of solutions in offense and have the kind of bench no other team of this generation has. They averaged 33 goals scored at 2014 EC and were not able to score at least 30 goals only in the first game with Hungary. But they got their revenge in the final when they scored 33. AT WC in Russia, they averaged 32 and went over the 30-goal margin in 6 out of 9 games. They didn't go over only in games they settled early on. They played Sweden back then and scored 35 in total and 20 until HT. They finished under the 30-goal margin only against Spain but Spanish defense cannot be compared to Sweden's. Also, that game was settled in the first half and there was no rushing in the second.

    In the last 3 years, this team went under the 30-goal margin just in 10 out of 47 games. Among those ten are Spain three times, a friendly with Portugal with B team. France did great in the first game here to score a total of 40 goals against Egypt.

    On the other hand, Sweden were pretty good in defense the past few years but their first game with Qatar wasn't good. Qatar were inefficient and the Swedish goal keeper had 41-percent of saves. They conceded 26,5 in competitive games over the past three years but they conceded a lot against all good offenses (2015 Iceland 31 and France 5, 2016 Denmark 33, Hungary 31, Croatia 30). In preparation games before this competition, they conceded 26 to Norway, 27 to Denmark.

    France will control this from the start. I expect them to win by at least 5 goals and to score a lot. Details

    I expect Denmark to have a better approach and don't trust Egypt much, the tip here is first half under. There's a lot of arguments for that in stats, especially for Denmark.

    Denmark played 2014 EC with this generation at 25,8-goal average in the first half. They went over only against Switzerland (15-15) but both teams played their usual game in the second half and only 23 goals were scored. The game with Sweden went into an over just because Denmark had a big goal difference. With other teams they had: Spain 28, Russia 24, Macedonia 23, Hungary 23 and Spain 24. We need to point out they allowed the super-offensive Russia only 10 goals. Their average was 24 in the first half in Russia and they went over that margin only against Brazil in the last game (for spot 7). With other teams they recorded: Qatar 20, Algeria 22, Croatia 24, Russia 28, Switzerland 24, Tunisia 23, Spain 21 and Sweden 24. Things were similar at last year's Euro in all the important games: the Netherlands 24, Macedonia 21, Norway 22, Germany 24, Croatia 26. We can conclude that they played first halves under this margin in 13 out of 16 games at the last two major competitions. If we look only at the games important for the semis of those competitions, they are 13-for-13. Three games they players in these qualifiers went under (Romania 21, Bulgaria 27 and Sweden 20). Preparation games ahead of this: Norway 29 and 27, Sweden 23.

    Things are pretty similar with Egypt. They went under this in 4 out of 7 games at the championship in Russia but the results with Iceland (30) and Venezuela(42) aren't that relevant. The last game in which they went over this margin was against Tunisia for spot 15 but that didn't mean much to them. At the Olympics two years ago, they finished all first halves as unders. At the African championship last year, they finished the first half with Mali with 38 because Mali are just horribly. But with teams that can compare to Denmark, they had nothing but unders.

    Given all that and the fact teams will want to avoid the second defeat, I believe both will start tough. Details

    A lot has been said about Arabia and their problems. Even though they lost by 6 to Croatia yesterday and were at -2 with a few minutes left until the end, they didn't impress me much. Croatia had 14-6 mid-first half and then got a bit confused. But when they started doing better, Arabia couldn't keep up.

    Iceland were good against Argentina from the start and took an early 7-goal lead. Argentina are, in my opinion, better than Arabia.

    Iceland have 13-11 against Greece from qualifiers but they were without some key players back then. There aren't too many relevant games at 2015 EC since Venezuela were the underdogs and the other teams better than Arabia. They have +3 against Korea, +6 with Egypt, +5 with Brazil. I expect at least a 4-5 goal difference by half time. Total over for Iceland is a good option as well. Details

    Latvia are one of the worst teams here when it comes to offense. Their overall game makes them one of the worst teams as well, which is no surprise since they are without 9 players. They lost by 28 to Lithuania here (despite having a 10-point lead in the second quarter), to Israel by 36, to Ukraine by 13. Before that, at a tournament in Istanbul, they lost by 27 to Serbia, 29 to Turkey, 34 to Lithuania... We need to say that some players who are here now weren't there back then.
    Spain have 32 with Slovenia here, 27 from preparation game with the Czech Republic. There is one interesting result - the 16-point deficit by half time at a tournament in Greece to Iceland. They went on to win the second half 46-24. Quality is therefore not questionable here. The huge difference between the teams should become apparent here. Details
