    I expect a tough game and a battle for every inch of the pitch. Last year Beroe were at an average of 2,12 goals per game, and in 32 rounds, they were under in 23. We can add to that the result from the first round of this season, 0-0, and the last three pre-season games that were all under. On the other side, Dunav were at an average of 2.42 goals, and in 36 rounds, they were under in 21. We can also add the under from the first round of the season, 2-0, and both EL qualification games (1-0, 2-0).
    This will be the 6th head-to-head of these coaches, and in the last four in the past year was under (the only over 2-1 from 2015). IN those four games the results were 0-0 twice, 1-0 and 2-0. These two teams faced each other twice last season in the championship (0-0 and 0-4) and two friendlies (1-1 twice).     A clash for advancement into the next round, and both teams could advance. In that case, Macedonia would face Croatia/Iceland and then Germany. I expect a battle from the start, and the overall under is also a good option, but I am leaning more toward Macedonia team under.
    Their defense was not great in the last two games, but If they want to advance, they will have to fight hard here. In a game at a high number of goals their chances will reduce. They are not very powerful offensively, which is confirmed by their numbers. They went over 27 only against Burkina Faso, twice Russia and Netherlands. All other games were at 27 and under, only Tunisia over 25.
    Brazil can play good defense. They have 29 against Tunisia here, Spain are not relevant for this story, and in other games they have 23 against Russia and 17 to Burkina Faso. At the 2015 WC they had 23 against Japan and Tunisia, 13 Argentina, 26 Russia. Iceland, Slovenia and France are better teams, and Denmark and Norway were for the placement. In key games at the Pan-American games in March they conceded 11 to Chile and 23 to Argentina. Their selector said that the defense has to be at the right level, and in a game this significant, I cannot see Macedonia foing over 25-26 goals. Details

    France are the favorites in this game and I believe they will win and secure the top spot. They will not allow themselves another surprise like the one against Slovenia. Slovenia play 5-1 defense which disturbed France's offense, while Denmark play 6-0 against which France have many solutions. I don't think France can repeat the black hole they had against Slovenia, they scored only 1 goal in the last 11 minutes. Denmark cannot win the top spot because Slovenia have already won, they can only be second with a win and third with a defeat. If they finish second (and if they defeat Hungary or Faroe Islands in the round of 16) they will face Spain in the quarter-final, but if they finish third, they will face Norway and then Iceland or Croatia. Since Denmark have a better record against Norway and Iceland/Croatia then against Hungary and Spain, I think that will be on their minds today, and they will not try as hard as they could. France should use that, because they are fighting for the top position and avoiding Germany and Spain until the semi-final.
    Overall number of France's goals seems like a good bet to me, they have shown that the inefficiency against Slovenia was a fluke and a result of Slovenia's great defense. Out of France's last 26 official games, 18 went over 30 goals, and two were at 30. They did not go over against Spain. And they had no need for thrashing against Japan, Brazil and Switzerland because they had a great lead and could slow down. In friendly games ahead of this competition they scored 34 to Switzerland, 24 Germany, 31 and 32 Spain, 38 and 34 Iceland. At this tournament they did not go over only against Slovenia.
    Denmark do not concede a lot of goals, but they are always around today's margin against offensively oriented teams. None of those teams are as offensively powerful as France. In their friendly games in the past year they conceded 31 twice against Croatia, 32 to Netherlands, at last year's EC they conceded 32 to Croatia, 31 Norway, 28 Iceland. Only Slovenia scored over this margin against them at this tournament.
    I believe France will record an easy win and I don't think they will allow themselves to have a bad day like the one against Slovenia, and they should score a lot of goals as well, similar to their previous head-to-heads in Denmark last year, where France won 37-32 and 31-18. Details

    These are the best teams of group A and this meeting will clearly decide who gets the top spot. Neither team has changed since World League much and since Qatar had 3-3 and Kazakhstan 1-5, that says a lot. Also, Qatar played some serious games when preparing for this. Their mixed lineup lost to Oman 2-3 but they trashed Pakistan in straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-16) when complete. I'm talking about Pakistan because Kazakhstan won the WC pre-qualifying game against them in 5 sets last may. Kazakhstan played no preparation games for this. They have no previous meetings with Qatar but they played some of the same opponents over the past few years. Last year, Qatar (a teams slightly different than this one) beat Greece 3-0. Kazakhstan lost 0-3 to them. This year we have meetings with Venezuela and the same outcomes. Qatar beat them 3-1, Kazakhstan lost 3-1. Both teams beat Tunisia 3-1 but overall, Qatar left a better impression. Stakes are high here and because of everything, I'll go with a win for Qatar. Details
